    Knew a lot of guys that went thru HALO and it sounded like they got about as much altitude as normal skydiving operations. But, with Team's like Marcinko's, it wouldn't surprise me if they mission-specific trained many times. As to Marcinko's impression of himself... seems like all those guys were surrounded in some sort of controversy. Hackworth was run out for being outspoken, challenging an Admiral on his fruit salad only to find out he (without intent) was really not Ranger tabbed.. Audie Murphy died with tons in gambling debt that his widow tried paying off while working at the VA... etc. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

    I really haven't heard of anyone getting that high at Yuma or Marana. What I have heard is they train "as though" they were going to do it. But, I'm the wrong person to be discussing this. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

    I didn't get to attend HALO school after three years of trying due to lack of funding and I wasn't on a HALO team.     First, the woman displayed a lack of judgment that went well beyond using cruise control in the rain. For example, she used disposable diapers on her baby, which is not very environmentally conscious. Second, the story in circulation has been "cleaned up" a bit for public dissemination. Ms. Abbey was actually ironing her entire outfit at the time of the incident and had removed her bra with the intention of breast feeding her child after she changed it, thus she was actually wearing nothing but the helmet and panties when she was found. And finally, the woman received multiple traffic tickets after the incident, including ones for speeding, unsafe driving, child endangerment, littering, breaking various fire-marshal regulations, illegal parking, damaging public property (the cliff), indecency, and operating an aircraft without a pilot's license.     Oh Dear Lord Jerry, That's shit about the 50's. We'd have to be 60-80 years old to know the answers to those. On the flip side of the coin, I had no idea who Amy Winehosue was till she passed and have still yet to see a Lady Gaga video. BUT!!! I can sing every Barry White song ever performed and know who sung the "Greatest Love of All" and who wrote it and why before it became associated with Whitney Houston 20+ years later.     When I think of guys like Marcinko, Bo Gritz, Colonel Hackworth (RIP) and others like them; I'm reminded of an old movie line from "Heartbreak Ridge." "They need to put guys like him in a glass case with a sign that says, "Break Glass in case of War." Go look up Hackworth on Wikipedia or sumpin.... he had sumpin like 7 or 9 Silver Stars AND 7 or 9 Bronze Stars all with V devices AND, AND, AND... I "think" the unit was started around 1980 and the chutes "could" have been large silk rounds (just thinkin... Italian military supplies in those days?).     Like I already mentioned above... The point of this thread is 100% to find out how many people have made night helicopter jumps... I guess your vote is NO, considering that you didn't bother voting. Does the link bother you? If the poll was 100% dedicated to find out how many people have made night helicopter jumps then why conclude it with advertising an event? My answer is, "Yes."     1. There are student systems where the reserve ripcord cuts the main and deploys the reserve. 2. They appeared to be pretty deep in the bottom end. 3. The only one there who could have made the call was the reserve side Instructor... I'll leave that judgement to him/her.     That reg is only in violation if the person in front was not a TI. .. .................................................................. I disagree. Unless the skydiver wearing the instructor's harness is a certified TI (on that system) or jumping under the supervision of a Tandem Examiner, he is violating a law. Tandem rigs are far too expensive and far too complicated to be used as TOYS. Tandem rigs are TOOLs and cost "x" number of dollars every time they leave the ground. Not to muddy the water , but FAR's aren't law. I may be wrong, but I think they fall under Administrative Law. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
