    Spiders Can Fly

Sometimes you come across something that reminds you this world is awesome. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  2. The way I'm reading those is that you CAN refuse after arrest, but the penalties are immediate suspension until an administrative hearing and even then you might have spent more on attorneys? Thankfully, I ride a bike and there's plenty of cages trying to kill me - I don't need to help them in their endeavor. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  3. Don't know if you've seen this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As8XkJNaHbs Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  4. It would appear the whole world has changed from email to social media, to texting, to phone - in that order. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. https://goldcoastskydivers.com/ http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/2162.shtml Gold Coast Skydivers opened their doors in April 1993, and has been serving thrillseekers ever since. Our dropzone for skydiving is conveniently located within a few hours of New Orleans, Slidell, Hammond, and Baton Rouge. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  6. No. It's the same "news" published in April. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. Sorry, Bob. I don't subscribe to the notion that for some suicide is an inevitable outcome. It is a false premise that undermines hope. I can't take credit for that perspective as I'm paraphrasing from something I read awhile ago and can't give you a source as much as it has become my opinion. For me; survival is our strongest instinct. There's too many studies done on those who've committed suicide leaving a doubt in those they've left behind as to it being an option for them. And, in many cases, it becomes true. Most famous that comes to mind are the Hemingways. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  8. idk, Wendy. Guess I just don't get it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  9. Am I wrong for being angry every time I see another story about suicide? To me; it is a selfish act especially for those who leave children behind to wonder if they are capable of the same "option." I realize they may not be thinking quite right, but.. well, I don't know.. it just pisses me off. EDIT: Love his shows over the years. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  10. There’s a reason it’s not called “RN” week and instead called “Nurses” week. I just came across this and being intrigued; looked it up. Seems to be a bit muddy. It's called National Nurses Week, but it stems from National "RN Day" Not sure if there was a pivot from a day to a week and if the intent was to change it up to National Nurses Week or be National RN Week. https://www.nursingworld.org/education-events/national-nurses-week/nnw-history/ Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  11. Better still is to leave the car at home and use Lyft/Uber from the start so there's never any temptation (or parking fees). There's that also, but some folks start out with the best of intentions. Having too much can sometimes be a factor of not being the destination; but where you wind up. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  12. I didn't say, refuse. I said avoid. There's apps, advertising required in many states, my State requires an exit option from the gauntlet, etc Having said that, if you got to do all that silliness, then you might have a bigger issue. Best course of action us to punch the lock button on your vehicle and hit the Uber app button. In my area; it has become *in vogue" for lack of a better term to use Uber. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  13. In the US Field Sobriety Tests are voluntary. And, you can avoid them - they're required to advertise in most states. One can read up on Sobriety Test guidelines. The best advice is to not answer ANY questions. Not ANY. From where are you going to where have you been. NOTHING. You have a 5th amendment right - use it. Suggestion: Just get the UBER app. Save yourself thousands of dollars for the cost of parking and a ride. The life you save may be that of a child. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  14. LMAO I LIKE it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Well, kinda. In legal terms; it is often referred to as "conspiracy." Collusion is the descriptive word the news media has settled on and they really need to quit using the word, cause its throwing things off. Let's call it what it is - Alleged conspiracy. Collusion; noun. secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others. Every dictionary has a similar paraphrase. As to conspiracy statutes: 18 USC 371) - conspiring to violate several potentially applicable laws like: 18 USC 1030 - fraud and related activity in connection with computers 18 USC 1343 - wire fraud 52 USC 30121 - contributions and donations by foreign nationals (not necessarily financial) 18 USC 2381 - “aid and comfort” to our enemies. The form of collusion - better known as treason. (its held up in court during non-declared wars). I know what you're going to say - but, the bottom line is... we're going to have to let this play out and take it from there. There's only two ways it can go. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  16. Luv you, both... Back on topic, please. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  17. >>>>>>>>>>>Yea someone coming at me with a knife, I want 4 shots of pepper spray to stop him NOT. 1. It would only take one shot at someone with a knife. 2. The Marines Non-Lethal Weapons Committee, Prisons, German Polizei, the Spanish Police Association, US Police Officers, County Sheriff's Departments along with all the other "professional" endorsements could all be wrong. 3. My reply said, "viable option(s)" There's more non-lethal options out there. I am in the camp of carrying a weapon; but there are options for those who simply do not see themselves killing someone. I would rather see them with something (anything) to defend themselves; than nothing. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  18. Works for me, and just about everyone else in a developed country. You just made a stretch that only a liberal can make! To Winsor's point; there are viable options for personal defense available. To your point, there are a considerable number of liberals AND conservatives that have started "conceal carrying" these: Fires up to 4 Separate Shots to 23 feet at 590 FPS from the nozzle High Grade OC Solution Not Considered a Firearm by ATF https://www.amazon.com/FIRESTORM-Shot-Compact-Pepper-Spray/dp/B06XVKRRQM?tag=bespepspronl-20 Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  19. What I find interesting in that report (far right one) - Is that in the 15-24 age column; if Suicide "firearm" and Homicide "firearm" were to be just "by-Firearm" it would be the number one cause for that age group. Cause, one of the real arguments is - inventory control and access to guns. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  20. In the way that each of you present your "statistical" argument - all three of you are correct. 1) To Rush's point - "IN School" is correct." 2) To Winsor's point - "IN General" is correct (which you validate in your post) "...it turns out that your kid is much more likely to O.D. or die of medical mistakes or sundry other causes than by firearm." (behind illnesses and unintentional injuries like drownings or car crashes) 3) To your point - "In America" is correct ...making "guns the third-leading cause of death for children." 21. Many have left Speakers Corner due to the levels of toxicity. SC is down to the last ten players discussing the same ten issues. We can blame facebook for the withdrawal of so many diverse opinions; but the issue is not facebook as much as it is the lack of respect for an opposing opinion. The SC environment has degraded to a discussion of, "You don't know what you're talking about and therefore must be an idiot." The level of respect for another's right to an opinion or even belief, common decency, and respect for our fellow skydivers (much less our fellow human beings) has deteriorated to a camel-spitting session in each thread. Too many talk "at" each other instead of "with" each other. Even when the substance of one's position has merit; their known religious beliefs or party affiliation gets entered into the discussion as a discredit to the foundation of their point. For me; it has become a level of disgust for those in which I have once respected; as I watch the not so subtle innuendos of personal attacks. I don't think its possible to enforce decency, or respect, or common courtesy. Will the last person to leave SC; please turn out the lights. /mic drop and exit stage left. 22. Well, that took me down quite the bunny trail. Looked up the author; which then took me to "Intelligence related to income and climate," which then took me to Monaco's highest per-capita income, along with Singapore's highest average IQ & income stats, which had an interesting .14 per 100,000 homicides, only to somehow wind up in Nicaragua's gun laws. I realize this is very off-topic, but Nicaragua developed a National Defense Ministry Registry in which all guns must be registered and police are allowed to inspect your storage & inventory. Their now per 100,000 per-capita homicide rate is 4.68 with a gun ownership rate of 7.7 guns per 100. Now, if we compare that to its neighbor Honduras (which has some fairly restrictive gun laws; but a constitutional right to carry and bear) has a per-capita homicide rate of 60.00 with a gun ownership rate of 9.9–11.24 guns per 100. Yet, Honduras has a law of "each firearm must be licensed and no more than 5 licenses per citizen" and a National Registry still has an estimated 500,000 illegal guns. No real conclusions, just informative reading and sharing. Thanks for the morning read. https://www.worlddata.info/iq-by-country.php https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Honduras Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  24. OK. I see where we're at... Where the frequency distribution is symmetrical, the arithmetic mean, median, mode and midrange are likely to be quite similar - therefore, on er, average. However, if the frequency distribution is skewed (in any way/its always skewed) the midrange will often be closest to the "tail" followed by the arithmetic mean. The mode will be furthest from the "tail" and the median will be in between the mode and the arithmetic mean (er, average).
