He also wrote, "a world in which, despite drastic changes, people remain essentially the same." Which goes along with Derek's points. There will always be those who follow the law regarding firearms and those who don't. Making more gun laws is not going to change the nutters who have no regard for the law. Let's make a law that - If during the commission of a crime you use a gun = the death penalty. The next day, some nutter will commit that crime. It is not illegal to present yourself at the US border and ask for asylum. There is a difference between seeking asylum, being a refugee and an Illegal Immigrant. According to the UNHCR: Asylum Seekers - must obtain the requisite documentation prior to departure. i.e., by going to the country of destination's Embassy and applying for "Asylum." Refugees - covers other individuals or groups of people who leave their country only because of war or other civil disturbance, famine, natural disasters or in order to seek a better life. As the UNHCR explains: Refugees flee because of the threat of persecution and cannot return safely to their homes in the prevailing circumstances. An economic migrant normally leaves a country voluntarily to seek a better life. Now, one can arrive at the border and seek asylum, but that's where it gets sticky. Sorting through being a refugee and those with a valid need for asylum. There are two ways to come to the US to claim asylum without having papers. One is to approach the US at an official port of entry, like the one on the end of the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez bridge, and present yourself to agents of CBP’s Office of Field Operations. The other way is to cross into the US between ports of entry — i.e., illegally — and, once caught by a US Border Patrol agent, say you’re seeking asylum. The asylum claim may be legal, but you’ve committed a crime (illegal entry) to make it. People who enter a country without meeting the legal requirements for entry (without a valid visa, or applying for asylum, for example) are Illegal Immigrants. Those who make it across the border illegally and stay - are still Illegal Immigrants subject to deportation. In short; you can't play the asylum card after you've been caught as a refugee (Illegal Immigrant) living in the country. You will be deported and need to go through the proper channels. Chris, I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make. I live in the heart of the Cherokee, Osage & Creek nations. Warren said she was of native American descent; she never expressed any tribe affiliation. From your writings; I can infer that you are knowledgeable in native American heritage. In Oklahoma; many claim to be of native American descent and in fact; many are. The difference being in one question, "Are you on the rolls?" That is what segregates the difference between being of native American descent and having a tribal affiliation. I'm not sure what the big deal is from either side; other than semantics. Around here; it is accepted that you can be either a descendant or on the rolls and not be wrong. In fact, to make the claim to be on the rolls requires no less than x/4ths (depending on tribe) to get on the rolls. So, you can be 1/32nd or 1/64th Native American and still not make the tribal roll. I just feel like I'm rambling here, cause I'm not sure of your position... But, I think both Warren & Trump are right. And, I think we have much more to discuss than this silliness. From the 1800's: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/history-stolen-supreme-court-seats-180962589/ To FDR's New Deal Era: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judicial_Procedures_Reform_Bill_of_1937 To Joe Biden in 1992 (the Biden Rule): https://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/23/us/politics/joe-biden-argued-for-delaying-supreme-court-picks-in-1992.html The Thurmond Rule etc. etc. etc... I would argue that all previous administrations have been fraught in less than neutrality. To your point, though; I don't like it. The SC SHOULD be the most apolitical in our government. For many years; I've called this, "Hitting the Wall." It happened with many and pushing past it can be difficult. My own S/O hit her wall at about 30 skydives. The wall can be defined as being at that point where your sensory perception all begin to hone into all the things that "can" go wrong. It's like all the little bts of information you've learned become this huge bowl of holy shit, WTF am I doing? At this point; I usually recommend that you speak with your instructors about doing at least 10 "all-about-me" dives. Solos. No pressure, no stress of adding more complexities into dives for awhile. Hop N pops made fun, solo exits from altitude, maybe two of you just going out and doing a copy cat dive, etc. Bring the fun back into it. My S/O did this (as have many others) and she pushed past it, went on to get ~700 skydives the next two years and was invited to the women's big way camps. Hi, Wendy. A couple of friends and I just took a scenic Harley tour of; Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Northern Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Utah, New Mexico and Texas. We based our trip on as many national parks as possible. We used the following tool to help plan our route and the National Park Service was amazing at giving us directions for the back-est roads we could take from park to park. 7,000+ miles and three weeks. We live in an amazing country. My favorite leg was from Moab to Taos. Enjoy. https://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm Keith Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

There's a lot of truth in that. Admittedly, I had to look up the "Streisand Effect" (but had a suspicion of what it was). I knew it as Brehm's Reactance Theory. I've done a couple of hours of research and the Nike marketing gurus seem to know their shit. The information in post #29 was true. What is also true is - Market research from YouGov Plan and Track shows that 46 percent of Nike customers have a positive view of Kaepernick, compared to 34 percent of all Americans. YouGov also found a 10 percentage point increase in the number of Nike customers versus the general public. So, I will concede to this point of the strategy increasing sales. It also tells me that I'm in the 34% of all Americans. Sincerely, I have issues with those who produce nothing other than controversy being financially rewarded. IMO He's about as much of a trendsetter as the Kardashians. But, not unlike other veterans will defend his right to protest. I don't have to like it. But, I will defend it. If memory serves; if the officer gave the command to salute and you didn't - it went to Non-Judicial - until it went to Court-Martial. Not saying that's wrong... but, I haven't had time to investigate whether it's correlation or causal. My first instinct is to think that it makes for good news; but, I don't know if its normal back to school seasonal purchases (mandated by the schools as to which brand needs to be purchased), or an included discounted pricing, or the significant percentage of purchases made by China recently were factors in the increase. I'll do some research on it and see. Will be interesting to find out. Probably start out with Statista, but they usually run a quarter behind. More later.
