  1. I don't see any point or counterpoint to what I posted regarding tax deductions for PACs
  2. According to the IRS: “You can’t deduct contributions made to a political candidate, a campaign committee, or a newsletter fund. Advertisements in convention bulletins and admissions to dinners or programs that benefit a political party or political candidate aren’t deductible.” This includes Political Action Committees (PACs), as well.
  3. That is true, Lee. But, she was still one of the most versatile skydivers I'd ever meet. And, the girl I was talking about was there for a short time and was even shorter than Mandy.
  4. Back in the mid "00's; there was a girl ~your height at Skydive Dallas. We called her five foot nothing. She would take guys 6'4" on tandems. If you can pass the TI course - you can out-control most anyone strapped to you. Go for it.
  5. You have the equivalent grand total of seven minutes of skydiving. Tell me any other sport aht you can spend seven minutes in and be proficient (Please don't try downhill skiing.) It's going to take you at least 50 - 100 jumps (50-100 minutes) in the sky to feel any kind of comfort in your abilities. The tunnel will accelerate that, but man - you got to give more time than seven minutes. Story: I knew a highly decorated Vietnam pilot (as in 43 air medals). He was all over the sky the first day of flying at flight school. He thought he was horrible at flying. His Instructor told him - try to remember everything you did today, because once you find the "hover button" you'll never be able to do what you did today. And, the Instructor was right - once he learned to hover he had to think really hard about how to do some of the aerobatics he did on his first day. Same thing in skydiving - you know how many of us didn't have the benefit of tunnel and had to go out theri and flail for 20, 30 40 jumps until we found our "hover button?" (Hell, there are some national champions that will tell you - never thought I'd be in the nationals much less win anything) Or before other skydivers would even jump with us? Then one day; it happens. You find your "hover button." You no longer have to think about the mechanics of turning; you just just "think" turn and it happens. Please don't give up after seven minutes.
  6. Well, his whole argument is based on fear. Fear of other cultures and scary looking weapons. So, I just thought I'd throw in a little mechanism of cognitive dissonance and watch his head explode.
  7. Because it's their right and they don't need your permission to do so.
  8. As a group; no argument. I akin it to being afraid of a gay rights parade. Those who are uninformed will always be afraid of what they don't or are unwilling to know. No difference.
  9. Same old liberal agenda - wanting to tell others how they should fit in their view. So, it's ok if he's carrying a gun dressed like a hunter or a civil war reenactor is ok. - is it ok for the hunter to carry what ever kind of weapon he wants? Whose permission does he have to get to dress like a militia-man? Or, is this just another case of, "ooooh, that looks scary - ban it!?"
  10. That's [edit] 20 years younger than me; a veterinarian and whom has her own skydiving rigs and Harley.
  11. Same old liberal stance. You can't have a logical discussion, so it becomes some decades old junior high school "pecker" response. You've got your rigs; he's got his guns. Maybe the two of you can rub pecker heads and the first one that smiles; loses. I have guns, rigs and a Harley - I win.
  12. Got it covered, Boomer. [with the "talk to the hand" up] BAM, old man - take that!! I literally cracked up when she said that.
  13. Nope. They get much worse See Answer number one - she called to say thank you.
  14. The takeaway from this isn't what you imply. It's that 22,000 gun-toting Americans can have a peaceful protest assembly. And as AOC says, "Where were all the police?" Didn't need any Babe - they had it covered.
  15. Well, we've established that you don't read what I post, but apparently you don't read what you post either.
  16. I was waiting for it . . . but, it never came. Now that you've given your answer on the train of pulling the lever - Is your answer the same if it's your daughter or son that's on the side track?
  17. You read absolutely NONE of the scientific data I posted. Kallend's right. No more feeding for you.
  18. Lemme try this one more time - And, if you'd like a little more reading - the title says it all: https://www.livescience.com/10-signs-of-climate-change-in-2019.html
  19. That is exciting. And, I think anyone who doesn't start investing in EV now is going to miss out on a very lucrative portfolio. I am in the process of building out an electric golf cart for use in my area. We can use them here on roads that are 35 MPH or less. One thing I struggle with and maybe you can enlighten me (I am not an engineer type, but have been interested in this since 2008). I simply do not understand how EV can have moving parts, but it isn't possible to have some kind of "generator" on it to re-charge it for virtually unlimited time & mileage in a single trip. BillV tried to explain this to me one time - but, I'm still not tracking. Personally, I think once they were self-charging - the EV world would increase exponentially.
  20. So, I see you've been dragged down to a circular argument for the past couple of pages. Can I encourage you to take a more linear approach to the issue and continue educating those of us interested in learning more. On a similar note; I read this and thought you might find it interesting. https://www.npr.org/2020/01/14/796252481/worlds-largest-asset-manager-puts-climate-at-the-center-of-its-investment-strate .
  21. "While all these policies and programs can help reduce emissions and drive technological change, economists across the political spectrum agree that a flexible, market-based approach is the most cost-effective way to reduce emissions, and should be a centerpiece of a comprehensive climate strategy."
