  3. Ok Ok, maybe not 25 years ago, but you get what I mean. It just sucks that things have to get to this point. But it is the "real" world so you have to try and make your way thru it. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
  4. "This isn't a sign of the times and how de-sensitized we are." I have to disagree with you...25 years ago, people would have a real problem with this type of "humor" meaning dummies hanging from trees, etc. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
  5. Its so sad that we as a race seem to have become so de-sensitive by such sites. That no body would think twice. Do you think Hollywood, the news agencies, and such, helped get us to this point?? Obviously!!!!!! Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
  6. Saw this on the internet. It is a sad day when you think a suicide was a Halloween decoration.... Bobbi __________________________________________________ Thu Oct 27, 7:10 PM ET FREDERICA, Del. - The apparent suicide of a woman found hanging from a tree went unreported for hours because passers-by thought the body was a Halloween decoration, authorities said. ADVERTISEMENT The 42-year-old woman used rope to hang herself across the street from some homes on a moderately busy road late Tuesday or early Wednesday, state police said. The body, suspended about 15 feet above the ground, could be easily seen from passing vehicles. State police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Oldham and neighbors said people noticed the body at breakfast time Wednesday but dismissed it as a holiday prank. Authorities were called to the scene more than three hours later. "They thought it was a Halloween decoration," Fay Glanden, wife of Mayor William Glanden, told The (Wilmington) News Journal. "It looked like something somebody would have rigged up," she said. I too, have to keep track of the cds he "borrows", pisses me off though when he snags the ones out of my truck! LOL!! though he has a couple that he bought that I have since "borrowed". " Its not just high schoolers...my 10 yr old son, soon to be 11, LOVES the Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Doors, etc...He hears the songs on Sims games for Play Station, comes out and asks me if I have ever heard of such and such and I say, "why hell yeah!" (not those exact words mind you), and I give him one of my many CDs to listen too. He loves classic rock, just like his momma...haaaaaaaa. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. 13. Lets face it...there are some groups/singers that sound great live and then there are others that sound better on CD, uh the beauty of a mixing board. I have seen a few in concert that I would have much preferred so save my money and just keep listening to them on CD. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.

  18. I had NO IDEA that these guys were together and playing again, well they may not be now, but they were and still may. I would pay BIG $$ to see them in concert!!!!!! Bobbi __________________________________________________ Just days after the legendary group performed concerts in New York, the Eric Clapton-led band may have split up for good. According to a Reuters report, the band's promoter and publicist say the trio's recent shows were likely their last. "The band has no plans for the future," publicist Kristen Foster of KFPR told the news agency Thursday. The "Strange Brew" singers are just coming off reforming for a string of shows in London, New York and Los Angeles over the past few months. The English blues-rock pioneers could have surely launched a larger world tour based on the strength of the recent gigs; yet the appetite to do so is apparently not strong for remaining band members Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Clapton. Cream announced they would re-form last December in England. They went on to perform their first show in decades at London's venerable Royal Albert Hall in May--the same venue was the site of the power trio's final gig in 1968. Since the group's disintegration 35 years ago, the only other time Clapton, Bruce and Baker appeared onstage together was when they performed a scorching three-song set at Cream's 1993 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After the jam, an emotional Clapton told audience members that he was "moved" by the band's performance, sparking a decade's worth of talk of a possible reunion. "It's been so long since I've been around something from somebody else that's inspired me. For the last 20 years, it's been up to me to inspire me," Clapton said at the time. Cream was formed in 1966 when Clapton left another Hall of Fame band, the Yardbirds, and hooked up with Bruce, a Scotsman from blues outfit Manfred Mann, and Baker, who played toms for the Graham Bond Organization. Known for its blues and psychedelic-infused jams, the threesome quickly established itself among the rock pantheon. The band released just four albums in two years--Fresh Cream, Disreali Gears, Wheels of Fire and Goodbye--but left an indelible mark on classic rock with such radio standards as "Sunshine of Your Love," "Strange Brew," "Spoonful," "White Room" and "Crossroads." 21. NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Although both marijuana and tobacco smoke are packed with cancer-causing chemicals, other qualities of marijuana seem to keep it from promoting lung cancer, according to a new report. ADVERTISEMENT The difference rests in the often opposing actions of the nicotine in tobacco and the active ingredient, THC, in marijuana, says Dr. Robert Melamede of the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. He reviewed the scientific evidence supporting this contention in a recent issue of Harm Reduction Journal. Whereas nicotine has several effects that promote lung and other types of cancer, THC acts in ways that counter the cancer-causing chemicals in marijuana smoke, Melamede explained in an interview with Reuters Health. "THC turns down the carcinogenic potential," he said. For example, lab research indicates that nicotine activates a body enzyme that converts certain chemicals in both tobacco and marijuana smoke into cancer-promoting form. In contrast, studies in mice suggest that THC blocks this enzyme activity. Another key difference, Melamede said, is in the immune system effects of tobacco and marijuana. Smoke sends irritants into the respiratory system that trigger an immune-regulated inflammatory response, which involves the generation of potentially cell-damaging substances called free radicals. These particles are believed to contribute to a range of diseases, including cancer. But cannabinoids -- both those found in marijuana and the versions found naturally in the body -- have been shown to dial down this inflammatory response, Melamede explained. Another difference between tobacco and marijuana smoking, he said, has to do with cells that line the respiratory tract. While these cells have receptors that act as docks for nicotine, similar receptors for THC and other cannabinoids have not been found. Nicotine, Melamede said, appears to keep these cells from committing "suicide" when they are genetically damaged, by smoking, for instance. When such cells do not kill themselves off, they are free to progress into tumors. THC, however, does not appear to act this way in the respiratory tract -- though, in the brain, where there are cannabinoid receptors, it may have the beneficial effect of protecting cells from death when they are damaged from an injury or stroke, according to Melamede. All of this, he said, fits in with population studies that have failed to link marijuana smoking with a higher risk of lung cancer -- though there is evidence that pot users have more respiratory problems, such as chronic cough and frequent respiratory infections. If marijuana does not promote lung cancer, that could factor into the ongoing debate over so-called medical marijuana. Melamede said he believes "marijuana has loads of medicinal value," for everything from multiple sclerosis, to the chronic pain of arthritis, to nausea caused by cancer treatment. U.S. government officials, however, maintain that the evidence for medical marijuana is not there. Ten states allow people to use marijuana with a doctor's prescription, but the Supreme Court has ruled that federal law trumps state law.
