From my experience those that come to do a tandem jump come for just that, one jump, to say that they did it. Those that carry on thru AFF, do so because during that first jump (Tandem) something "clicked" and they fell in love with all the aspects of skydiving, kinda like when you fall in love with your soul mate. One reason that they don't go thru with it and I deal with this alot, is the feeling of not "being able to do it". Plain and simple, they become overwhelmed and then they start using the excuses of lack of funds, time, etc. Thats where the AFF teacher comes in, they have to be extremely confident at what they are doing and be able to reassure the student, that yes infact, they can do it. The AFF teacher also needs to know the students level of compency and fish or cut bait when that student is just too overwhelmed and back off. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. I have four dogs. I have always believed that if your gonna get a dog, GET a dog. No pissy 'lil yapper dog. BUT, I have come to my senses. I rescued from the side of a highway, not once, but twice a small Rat Terrier. OMG! This dog is the sweetest, smartest, and down right fun, not to mention loyal, I can't take a S***, without it following me to the bathroom. Her personality is more then the other three combined. NOT that I don't love my other three, I do, but you know, they all have different personalities. Check out a small dog, 14 lbs and under. Yeah, they need excersize, but don't you? I mean if you are struggling to face the world, so to speak, a small dog will make you get up and out. Not to mention all the unconditional love they give back. Arizona!! Now that is beautiful country!! I went there for 2 months in late november thru Janurary, a few years ago. Absolutely amazing! I was about an hour and a 1/2 west of Phoenix in a town 'lil called Wickenburg. Loved it!! I would move there in a heart beat, but that would leave family and friends too far away. Two things..... 1.) He put himself in that situation when his photo was taken the first time with that big ol' bucket of Heinikens. 2.) More then being offended he probably would be more pissed, because A.he lost his internet access and can't see himself on the world wide web and B. he isn't getting any "royalties" from the pics. A really cool thing that a good friend of mine did when she lost her black lab after 17yrs was to make a really wonderful scrapbook. Enlarge the cool pics, maybe turn a few into black and white, include the special moments in his and your lives. It helped her work thru the grief process and she has a beautiful momento to keep on the coffee table or break out when she is blue. I am sorry for your loss. I too am an animal lover. I have four dogs. I love them all dearly and they are all so different. I have had pets my whole life and the first thing I did when I left home as an "adult" was to get myself a pet. The way I feel is this...both are an extremely intimate act that should be considered for your one and only (and only he/she), so to speak. On the Today Show, they were talking about how teens are really very casual about oral sex. Hell, Bill said it wasn't "sex". So is oral sex or not? Weeeeell kinda. I have mixed feelings about the whole situation. I understand BOTH sides of the coin. I love this section of the forum and I just thought that this would be a great place to hang a hornets nest! A part of me thinks that it is not anyones right to dictate what one can and can't do, BUT on the other hand if you can't afford to put a meal on the table, how can you afford to pay Dr's visits and the hospital bill when it comes time to deliver. Adding a child to an already stressful situation would make it even harder to get out from under. BUT, like I said I see both sides of the coin. Bobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. Ok, I heard this yesterday and was wondering what y'all thought. When someone signs up for welfare assistance they SHOULD be handed, the paper work, along with an agreement that they have to sign as to NOT getting or having any more kids while on assistance and given birth control of their choice. They get preggers they loose their assistance. Can we as a society/governing body, be able/allowed, to do this?
