Time to go on Holiday and visit us in the US. James
-
Cost me about $10,000 in instruction and used equipment, but that was for the wife and I both last year. We jump in the US so I don't have any idea what your looking at there. Now it's $20 a jump each+packing if we're to lazy to do it ourselves. It has been worth every penny, hands down no question about it. James

Thanks, that helps explain why hearing the horn does not mean your flying on the edge. Still curious about the airspeed thing. Is an aircraft more likely to stall as the airspeed reduces? James
-
Let me understand, are you saying that an aircraft is not more likely to stall at a lower airspeed than at a higher airspeed with the same AOA? I have to assume that an engine failure will reduce airspeed. I do not know what the affect on the AOA will be. educate me please, James
-
Not a Lawyer, just trying to understand why the stall horn is there if it is not telling you something you "need" to know. I know litigation has had harmful effects to the private aircraft manufacturers and wondered if this is a cover your ass type warning. James
-
I guess I don't understand stalls as well as I thought. I always thought that airspeed was a factor in stalling an aircraft. Is the stall horn there to protect the manufacturer from lawsuits or to warn you that your pushing the limit. (maybe both) You have to remember that Dave has had a loss of power on takeoff situation in a cessna in the past and it might not have turned out so well if the pilot was "pushing the limit" when the engine failed. Go to the DZ.com home page and click on "learn to skydive" it will answer many of these questions and most likely create more. James
-
Sorry I missed that PD is jumping it now. I think that should give you a good idea if it's you or the canopy. James
-
Sounds like it might be hard to sell this main if you tell people why it's for sale. on the other hand if it's not the canopy's fault someone might get a good deal. Did you try haveing someone else jump it that has more experience. I'm still jumping the 210 I bought just off student status at a .9 w/l so I can't coment on openings at 1.3. Good luck with the canopy. James

Is it standard practice at your DZ for high pullers (4500) to get out before low pullers? James
-
Only once on the comeing through the wall. The knock on the door in the middle of the night thing has happened more than once. I have not always had the funds to move to a better place. Sometimes you have to do the best you can with what you have. I have no ethical problem with useing deadly force to protect my family or yours. You will note that I refer to my firearms as weapons. I have no interest in hunting. James
-
A knock on the door in the middle of the night you did not expect= me alot more comfortable with my weapon. A "tweaker" (meth user) neighbor breaking through the wall between my apartment and his= S.W. .357 pointed at his head when it came through the hole. It took him a second to realise how close he was to dieing, but ended the immediate threat. After calling 911 it took over an hour before the police got there, can't always count on them to protect you. Yes I enjoy shooting at the range, practiceing skills that one day might save my life or yours. Only a morron would try to "draw" on someone that has a "bead" on them. James P.S. both of those examples have happened to me, the first one more than once

My kid watches a cartoon called catdog. If I remember right it has a dog head at one end and a cat head at the other. The little bit I saw was pretty funny. James
-
Is it collapsible?
-
With 31 jumps in 2 years atleast he's "ultra current". James
-
That's all good stuff!!!!! We do it very similar to that with our boat rental and repair buiss. How do the "banks" react to the idea of a skydiving buiss.? Do they treat it like other recreation, or do they give you "that look" when they hear skydiving? James
-
Following that link it looks like they get $350K for a new one depending on options. Says big enough for 2-way RW. James
-
Bodyflight.net has info mentioning sales/design with a picture of a "trailer unit" behind it. Hope that helps, I've seen them posting here so maybe someone will give you the answer. James
-
There is a video on skydivingmovies.com that shows it. I think it was titled how to bag ZP in 60 seconds or something like that. You should be able to find it there with a search. This is something you should have someone experienced with show you in person. James

Are there skydivers without injuries?
chutem replied to Don.Key's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Safer than a driveing a yugo in a figure 8 race maybe, but I'm not sure. The level of danger will depend greatly on you, and your actions. In my opinion it will always be more dangerous than driveing a car. 1st thing to learn is not to trust advise from low time jumpers from the internet such as myself. I'm sure some more experienced jumpers can quote some statistics compareing safety driveing with jumping. In my "low time" opinion the reward is well worth the risk!!!!!!!!! James -
Sorry, don't have time to search for it now, but there was a thread about rigging that had a huge list of sites you can download manuels from. Try a search, or maybe someone else knows the thread I'm speaking of. Good Luck, James

Bad landings and the "I was lucky" advice.

I just want to let you guys know that not all of this falls on "deaf ears" (no offence to the hearing impaired). I'm very fond of walking, and would like to continue to be able to do so for a very long time. Last year when I started jumping I planned to downsize relatively quickly, after reading all the posts here I plan on takeing it slow. The main point of my post is- Thank You DZ.com and Experienced Jumpers- I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel the same way. Thanks Again, James -
Keep it up!!!!!!!! Be Safe!!!!!!!!! James

Yes, humor was the intention there. Are you saying that all doctors are good just because they passed the boards or got into medical school? I hope not. I would rather see a doctor who graduated high in the class/passed boards with an excellent score his/her 1st try. I'm just kind of pointing out that all doctors/Lawyers are not created equal and that just because they passed a test/ got into school does not mean that there isn't a better one around the corner. I also find humor in the way people will look for the answer they want wherever they can find it.(I'm not saying that this thread is an example of that) James
-
Always remember and don't ever forget, 50% of all Doctors and Lawyers graduated in the last half of their class. Even the best are only "practicing", so when in doubt get a qualified second opinion. As seen in these forums who could be more qualified than skydivers. James
