  1. I think some of the problem here is the use of slang in the US is different than in many parts of the world. I'm very much offended if you are implying that I would be more hurt/saddened by the loss of a pet than by the loss of my "little shit" (big shit now). If you think that most of us care for our pets more than our children you are very much lacking in understanding of the average "american". Maybe if someone had recognized that the teen mentioned in this thread was behaving like a little shit earlier in his life he would not be in this situation. James
  2. I have refered to my son as "the little shit" or "that little shit" when telling other people of some of his "adventures". I would never call him that to his face, and never have, especially since he is 6 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than I am now. I guess if I'm telling someone about him now he'll be the "big shit" if the situation was a pain in my ass. The child in question is acting like a little shit, so we have to call them like we see them. Maybe we should blame his parents/the system for his behavior, but I personally think the little shit knew what he was doing. James
  3. One of the boat haulers out here has a very similar truck. I don't know the particulars, but I can verify that such trucks do exist. I think his is on a 5 ton chassis. James
  4. Try searching "Spizzzarko landing", he has some landing advise that I found helpfull. Don't worry it gets easier with practice. James
  5. Slightly off topic, If you haven't seen it there is a very cool "gameshow" video where Jeff Provenzano cuts suspension line after suspension line after missing questions from the MC while under canopy. He gets quite a few of them cut befor it spins up. Of couse he is cutting the ones he wants. I don't know where to find this vid on the internet. (skydivingmovies.com maybe) If you find it it's worth a watch. I was very surprised how long it kept flying. James
  6. My guess on the last 50' "freaking you out" is that you are much more likely to hit the ground dureing that last 50' than you are when up "high". I have no landing advice for you, only a reference to some reading that helped me. Search for "Spizzzarko landing". In my opinion (way low time jumper so it don't mean much) He has given some very good landing advise in neumerous posts. "Spizzzarko rules the landind advise" James
  7. Again, sorry for questioning your attention to detail. I type a little slow (think that way to) so some of the last few replys are out of order with some of the posts. James
  8. That list really helped my confidence level in you. Looks like the only one that might possibly have been a packing problem (your packing) was the last and who knows if that was it. I appologise for questioning your attention to detail. James
  9. So as a general statement you would have no problem useing a rigger with 5 chops in his 162 jumps? I guess he didn't say that the cutaways were on his own packjobs, and you may have a point about him chopping stuff that may have opened or that he could have landed. I would need alot more info to be comfortable with this. James
  10. 5 chops in 162 jumps makes me wonder about his "attention to detail" in a sport that will kill you. 5 chops in 162 jumps may just be bad luck. It just does not give me the "warm fuzzy" I'm looking for in a rigger. What do the rest of you think, 5 chops in 162 jumps would that bother you if it was your rigger? If I knew him personally it might not bother me as much because I would know what type of person I was dealing with. James
  11. Bill did I miss something? Did you just reccomend a pilot 168 at a 1.35 wl for a jumper with 40 jumps? You obviously know your stuff, so I am hesitant to question your advise. No disrespect intended. James
  12. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but do your rigging customers know you have 5 cutaways in 162 jumps? This might make me look for a new rigger. Why do you think you have this many mals in so few jumps? What measures have you taken to try to prevent this in the future? I guess if you go with the odds it will be a long time till your "due" for another one. James
  13. Check in safety and training for a thread called the accuracy trick. At the end of the thread is a post by slotperfect with an attachment that explains a lot of what your looking for. Wish my comp. skills were better I'd make a clicky for you. It is a "current" thread. As always check with your instructor or atleast someone with way more jumps than me. James
  14. Sounds to me like you know what is right for you. Don't let anyone push you into anything that you don't feel is for you. It's a risk/reward situation and at this point the only reward may be not hearing crap about the size of your rig. I also fly a larger canopy at a low wingloading. I still feel I have things to learn with this canopy. If the right deal presents itself I'll downsize. (I have 140 jumps on present canopy) If not I'm happy with what I have. As far as I know waiting to downsize never killed anyone. Sometimes I think it's more me being self concious about the size of my rig that makes me feel "weird" about how big my rig looks than anything else. James James
  15. Time to move to AZ. It's hot, but that is probably good for your ultra fast head down speed dives. Not much rain, it does get windy in the afternoon these days. Did I mention the wind tunnle is almost open? James
  16. That was at Canyon Lake in AZ. Is your Dad working fires out here? I can understand him not wanting to take you for a jump, after putting up with you for all those years. A nice guy like me on the other hand, he would probably be happy to risk it all. James
  17. Ah, so the key to this "very important" skydiving skill is to blow harder/faster. I was trying to re-shape my lips for a smaller opening. Nice work on finding "lesson" in there for us that has real value. (hypoxia example) James
  18. I had someone ask me if I could whistle while in the plane at about 12,000'. After I said yes they said to try it. I couldn't do it, and of course he could. Another effect of density altitude I guess. Have you ever tried this? Can you do it? James
  19. Saw this at the end of my workday yesterday, made me want a helicopter jump. I bet this would hold a few jumpers with the cargo pod attached. It's sucking up water to put out a desert fire. James
  20. Those smiles made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks James
  21. Lucky you, I have to go to the Lake and fix boats just like every other weekend. I'd be happy to trade days with you on that one. Guess I can't complain to much, there are plenty of people who would be happy to go to the lake every day and get paid for it. James At least I have time for some DZ.com
  22. The woonderfull thing about tiggers is tiggers are wondeful things. James
  23. Your starting to sound sick from here, nothing heals this kind of thing like airtime. James
