  1. Holy crap that's funny!!!!!!!!!!!! I just clicked on the R U IBAD link in your sigline. Almost fell off my chair laughing. I can't even begin to imagine how much "crap" he must have taken over that video. You made my day. James
  2. Hey that's my boy. Very nice, I will be printing that out for him. James
  3. Thanks Skydive Arizona for making my son's first tandem great.
  4. it is quite possible that this is an argument with yourself you may lose. James
  5. That sounds like something to try up high sometime also. If it is doable this might be a good solution. How about it more experienced jumpers, can you restow a toggle in flight? I would think that you'd have some time to work with it if you leveled out the wing quickly. Opinions please. James
  6. If the left toggle is stuck and the right is free what is the best method to hold the right toggle for level flight while still being able to do a rear riser flair? Are you takeing raps on the right toggle so you can reach the rear riser at the same time? How about hold right toggle/steering line in your teeth leaving both hands free for the rears? (this just does not sound right but might work, teeth thing) If you take raps on the right when you flair with the rears will it affect the right steering toggle position causeing a turn in your flair? Can you compensate for this by flairing unevenly with the rears? Am I over anylising this? Sounds like something to practice up high to be ready if it happens. James
  7. You might consider asking one of your instructors to test jump it for you and compare to theirs. Also the school might have crude test/calibrate chamber you could run it through. James
  8. Are you this guy? You know the one, the guy who jumps with low timers to see the joy on their face and their skills improve. The one who see's me having trouble with my sit exit and gives me some pointers. You know the one, the guy who could deservingly be called a skygod but never acts that way. You've seen him/her around always ready to set you straight if you deserve it, but doing it in a nice way that doesn't embarrass you in front of everyone. If you are this guy THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! James
  9. Just to be fare it does look like the original poster said "reserve lineover" James

Phoenix Sky Harbor is the major airport nearest the DZ. I think it's about 45min away. James
  11. I was not saying that big rigs open slower than small when things work as designed, but that design plays a larger part in the quickness of the opening. I'm curious if you jumped the same canopy design in a 230 and a 150 (sq ft) with no slider which one would slam you harder. I understand that no one would want to do this and that it would most likely result in injury. Simple logic says the larger canopy would open harder as you describe. Do any of you more experienced jumpers/test dropers have an answer based on experience rather than calculations? James

Mondays have been a little slow. I will be there in the morning and would be happy to make a jump with you. With any luck there will be some team training going on to keep the loads flying. James
  13. I think there may be more to it than that. I may not be as "booksmart" as you, or geeky if you want to call it that. My 210 sillouhette opens much slower than my stilleto 170. The student canopys I jumped 280-220 navigators opened much slower than my 170 stilleto. I have heard stories of original sabre's slamming people in all sizes. It would appear to me that canopy design, slider design, and pilot chute size all play a major role here. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. James
  14. If the boat you're "restoring" has an OMC stringer mount drive system sell it now. They are the "black hole" of boat drive systems. Most people I know trying to bring old boats back to life spend way more than they are worth only to have an undependable pile. Remember B-O-A-T stands for bust out another thousand. That said it doesn't sound like you are ready to give up skydiving yet, keep after it. James
  15. Your coach jumps in Eloy most likely will be with "world champion" caliber skydivers. Some people in this thread are comenting on low jump # coaches. It only takes 100 jumps to be eligible to be a coach, most think it ridiculous to pay to jump with a 100 jump wonder. I was a little leary of the cost of coach jumps in eloy. Now that I have a couple of years experience I feel I got what I paid for, top notch coaching. I did most of my coach jumps with Will Pesek who now flys camera for airspeed. Worth every penny. Who is the guy you are comfortable with? I won't tell. JAmes
  16. Most will say you should have atleast 200 jumps to fly video. James
  17. If you have a high + perscription make sure you get some that the lenses fairly flat/straight accross from side to side, not wrap around. I got some (can't remember the brand) from e-bay, had lenses made for the inserts, and found out I could not see for S**t straight ahead. The low profile wrap around style caused the lenses to be at to much angle in front of my eyes. I have a very strong prescription so this is probably not a problem for most.(+6 both eyes) I'm at eloy most mondays if anyone in AZ wanted to look at them. I think they were birdz rx but not sure. James
  18. It would appear that God knocked her up. As we all know religious discusions belong here in SC. Seriously Congrats!!!!!!! I am 40 now and have an almost 5mo old son. It's great!!!!!!!!! James
  19. Have not hit the hobby shop in a while, is the strker C available yet? James
  20. Clear thinking, altitude aware, cutaway at 2700'. All sounds good to me. James
  21. Ok so who was it with all the posts saying the jet would never drop jumpers. I think it was "untameddog" but not sure, haven't searched it yet. Care to comment? James wish I was there!!!!!!!!!

What's with all the posters who have less than correct jump numbers listed in their profiles? I understand the high number jumpers not wanting to be bothered by updating. It's the newer to the sport people that make me wonder. If you're going to give advice to "younger" jumpers shouldn't they know where it is coming from? James
  24. Wish this was posted in the instructors forum so we could see some tandem instructors opinions on a 200 jump camera flier docking on tandems. James
  25. Search for posts on landing by "spizzarko" he has some really good explanations on how to judge your flare. James
