  1. I could probably put you to work renting boats, fueling boats, and manning the dock store. Our season is getting ready to kick in. Only problem is you would not like the pay and on top of that it's 110* plus working outside in the summer. On the plus side the bikini watching is pretty good when it warms up and you do go to the lake every day. Let me know if you want to relocate to the Phoenix area. James
  2. Unemployed for 14 months now, maybe it's time to get a job. James
  3. Crap, scratch that, it's an ad for scratch proofing your suunto. James
  4. No answer, but I find it funny as hell when I clicked on this thread (twice) a suunto ad comes up on the left. James
  5. I think the best option would be to have an experienced camera flyer take a look at your setup. The advice of other low time jumpers over the internet is not what you want to stake your or someone else on the ground's life on. James
  6. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/how-to/tips/how-to-make-your-ipad-a-second-screen Try mounting a macbook on the yoke in front of you and flying the airplane. James
  7. No, the AOPA can not change the FAA rules for a class 3 medical. Yes, they can help you navigate through the pitfalls of the FAA rules. If you want an FAA class 3 medical you will have to jump through the hoops. Had the 1996 DUI not been reported by you it would have been found in the national driver license database check that is done and you would be screwed. James
  8. AOPA is excellent for this. Dr. Bruce C. in the medical forum is "the man". You can get a free 6 month membership by expressing interest in becoming a student pilot. Don't waste any time do it now. If there is a way, Dr. Bruce C. can find it for you. James
  9. Airplane Pilot starting salary $85,000. Pilots I know are not atarting anywhere near that. Maybe if they qualify it as Airline Captain it might be close. Ask your jump pilot about Airplane Pilot starting salary. James
  10. I also would think the 1st ammendment is at play here. Should the owners of the bank not be allowed freedom of speech and religion if they have not discriminated against anyone? Is the point of the 1st not to stop the federal gov from making laws that limit free speech and religion? As an athiest I do not expect to be discriminated against just because I see someone displaying their faith. On the other hand, if they had a sign that said "non christians not welcome" I'd have a problem with that. James
  11. Is it acceptable for a small hardware store owner to offer a 10% discount to members of the church he goes to? James
  12. Looks like we may cut the employee contribution to Social Security for a year. Is this a good idea? Of course the claim is that the reduction will be paid for from other money the gov does not have. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101207/ap_on_bi_ge/us_tax_cuts James
  13. You asserted that no fraudulant votes were cast as a fact. It appears what you really meant was, no fraudulent votes were cast that I know of. James
  14. All your source shows is that the easiest to find registration fraud, the names like Donald Duck etc. were turned in by ACORN. Your source is wrong about the voter registration not in person needing to show ID to vote. I registered online and voted by mail in early ballot, no one checked my ID. Unless someone has verified every single ballot no one can factually state that there were no fraudulant votes cast. You can however state that no fraudulently cast ballots were discovered in this investigation. Seems a bit of a difference there eh? James
  15. http://www.vladiball.org/ Try that. James
  16. Ah, the infamous eat less move more diet, not very popular these days. James
  17. OBGYN office probably should have been on the list. James
  18. The AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc) has a very good "medical" portion on their forum. If you would like to get your medical back it would probably help to discuss it with the doctors there. You can get a free 6 month aopa membership by indicating interest in becoming a student pilot with no further commitment. James
  19. Another option. http://meltingclocktimes.com/turkeyparachuting.htm James
  20. I make single grocery bag parachutes for my kid to play with. One standard plastic grocery bag works pretty well for a single little plastic soldier (you remember the little green plastic "army men" about 2.5" tall from when you were a kid). The little plastic guys weigh almost nothing. I'm thinking the decent rate will be fast even at 1/2lb per bag suspended weight. James

http://www.purpleboard.net/forums/index.php Purple Board for Pilots is very good. Also the AOPA has a good forum. James

  23. RIP my friend. You will be missed! James
  24. TO REPEAT: "And just to make it clear to those who read into my post things that I haven't written: I am not opposed to a wingload BSR. I am opposed to a BSR based on jump numbers rather than ability." I'm surprised you choose the easy path instead of the right path. Would you be opposed to a BSR that imposes a minimum jump number and a test of ability? James If they can prove they have the ability, a jump number requirement is irrelevant and superfluous. How do you propose they prove they have the ability? James Test. Just like we ask candidates for a license, or a PRO rating, or a coach rating, or an instructor rating to prove they have the ability. Just like we ask people who want to build bridges to prove they have the ability. It's not exactly rocket science to devise tests of ability. Yes, most reading this understand you want to test these abilities. What tests do you propose? Billvon's checklist might be a good place to start, does there need to be more? If we are going to take experience out of the equation how will we test the ability to handle surprises in the pattern? How do you test if a person will be to focused on flying the canopy to be aware of what's going on around them? Experience does not rule out these problems, but it may figure in there somewhere. James
