  1. You have not been paying attention... Ask yourself WHERE all the money that the government is spending is REALLLY going to..how much of it ends up right in the pocets of the 1%... you know.. those who OWN the military industrial complex where the largest amount goes to. What is (according to the IRS) the lowest yearly reported income in the 1% of all earners bracket? 2009 $343,927 is what I'm seeing. James Cool Next question What percentage of federal income taxes are paid by the 1% ? (those who have an income of the number you posted and above) 36.73 it appears. It will need to be more as will the percentage that the rest of us pay. Along with that spending will need to be cut if we are to get out of this mess. It sucks bigtime, but it is the way it is. I guess the other option is to become a conquering nation and take what we want from the rest of the world. James

  3. It's going to take both tax increases and spending cuts to make a dent in our debt. One or the other will not do it. Even with both we're in deep shit. James
  4. Sorry, yes I was asking you as you seem to be knowlegable in the financial arena. James
  5. If it's a congressional meeting, how can it be considered public if it's not something that hits C-SPAN? my example was that it was on C-SPAN so its public. yours is not so it isnt. its mute because after doing some reading it turns out they can trade on anything. the reason behind this is" congressional lawmakers have no corporate responsibilities and have long been considered exempt from insider trading laws" i'm willing to bet that personal ethics have kept people in the past from trading during these situations. our current congress does not have the same ethical motivations. probably time to change the laws. my 2 cents Do they not have a fiduciary duty to the people they are supposed to represent? James
  6. Coming soon.... a tax so the gov can promote turkey sales at Thanksgiving and a tax to promote eggs at Easter. James
  7. Did; it says it only works on certain W-D models of doors. JerryBaumchen[/reply This unit works on all models. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C-Bxifv2Pk James
  8. I'm glad to hear she made it back. I would probably have left the brakes stowed as they seemed to be "playing nice" with each other. I'm not saying this is the correct thing to do, just probably what I would have done. James
  9. Did the girl make it back to the DZ or land off also? James
  10. How many jumps do you have? I'm not asking to put you down, I just want to know where this falls in the jump numbers/small camera debates. Will you keep flying the camera for now? James
  11. Glad to have you back. I've not jumped in 4 years due to a surprise late in life child. It wasn't right for me (as in personal decision) to risk my new young childs future of having a father. I'll come back when he's older. I surf DZ.com everyday to live/jump through others experiences. It isn't jumping but beats no connection with jumping. That picture hurt from here. Hang in there and keep posting. There will be many new swoopers pushing things that need to hear your story. Heal fast and best wishes, James PS Bust VB's balls about upsizing and taking it slow.
  12. So, which people do you propose eliminating? Asians? Africans? Republicans? Which ones should be euthanized and sterilized to avoid propagation? Seems that global warming is a good idea. The oceans can rise and kill off billions! Just when the population rises, AGW saves the day! Some would say start with lawyers, although I don't think there are enough of you to make a dent. James
  13. I can't believe you are even considering borrowing money from those evil bankers. James
  14. You're upset that you have to pay $3000 to remove the only person from the loan who has not publicly announced their intention to default. If the bankers ever found a way to connect you to this thread you'd be lucky to modify the loan for any price. James
  15. If you did the re-fi you were looking at before would you be able to remove your ex's name in the same transaction? If so that would be 3K of the I think $15K they wanted to do the re-fi and lower your payments. James
  16. Given the choice of hiring two evenly qualified applicants except that one took a lesser job when downsized while the other chose to ride out his unemployment checks I'd probably hire the one that had demonstrated he wanted to work. If I have to worry about being sued I won't hire either one unless I absolutely have to. James
  17. I have to assume it's the airlines who pay the majority of the fuel taxes. It would also seem that they use the majority of the ATC services. James
  18. Huh, I am just using the SAME logic you use on just about every other issue that does not affect you. Ah, yes... An organization made up of small plane owners built with the intent to lobby the Govt. So, I'll make you a deal: Ill accept the AOPA's opinion about small aircraft as soon as you start accepting the NRA's position on firearms..... Deal? Many AOPA members are no where near able to own their own aircraft. It is the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc. My wife and I drive old vehicles so that we can afford to fly a little each month. One car payment plus the increased insurance cost (liability only on our old vehicles) is enough to alow me to fly a few hours a month. I would wager that you make more than I do. I understand the publics view of pilots as rich, but I as do many fall into the middle to lower middle class of income. I do consider myself rich, just not in a monetary way. James
  19. Kallend you know I love you but YOU are rich, there's no assumption you demostrate that in your life style and toys. And I don't believe anyone can find a post where Kallend said he wouldn't pay more taxes. It's something I admire about him and Bill. They would I believe. I can admire it...I don't agree with it though Calling Kallend rich is a point of view thing. To many he is and to others he probably is not even close. I agree with the bolded portion of your post 100%. Instead of using this issue to take shots at Kallend and TK we should be banding together as users of GA to fight user fees. James
  20. I think we agree on the user fees situation. If my posts have lead you to think otherwise I must not have been clear in my writing. I believe the fuel tax to be the most equitable way to handle this. It is already in place and easy to implement. If ATC is not being adequately funded through this then raise it. Creating hard to enforce/collect user fees is not the answer. James
  21. I agree. I'm just trying to point out the potential impact of this poorly worded attack on GA in terms a skydiver will relate to. James
  22. I am actually torn about this proposal. Guys like you keep claiming that the "rich" need to pay their fair share and that a little regulation never hurts anyone. Hate to break it to you.... but a guy like you with a toy car and a private plane.... You are "rich" to many people. And all of us that spend money to jump out of planes for fun have a little bit extra disposable income than most people. This is a fine example of you being good with additional taxes EXCEPT when it comes to the things YOU like. The way the proposal is written a cessna 182 load of 4 jumpers would be charged the same $100 per flight as an Otter load of 21 jumpers. That will impact the small 182 DZ per lift ticket price much more than the turbine DZ. Are you ready to run the small DZ out of business? James
