They didn't prepare me in teacher's college
FallinWoman replied to FallinWoman's topic in The Bonfire
BTW...this is the smae kid who ate one of my piece of chalk a few weeks ago. His counselor and principal are certianly involved. His mom thinks that any problem I have in class is due to my teaching skills (or lack thereof.) It is never her precious son's fault, problem, whatever.... I simply forwarded this info on the counelor and principal...there is little I can do at this point. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -
They didn't prepare me in teacher's college
FallinWoman replied to FallinWoman's topic in The Bonfire
It was one of the little ones. Does that make it any mroe normal??? He just took a bite out of the side and started chewing!!! I still cannot believe it. Of course now I am terrified that he is going to get sick and his family is going to try to sue me because I was not able to keep him from eating the can. What a crazy day. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -

Today I had a situation in my ninth grade algebra class that I was totally unprepared to deal with....so i welcome any thoughts. I had a student who was refusing to do any work. I would not allow him to talk to the other students, who were working hard. In order to get attention he.....are you ready??..... HE ATE A PRINGLE'S CAN...not a can of pringles....the fu**ing can!!!!!! This is a bright 15 year old kid. There is no such topic covered in the classes I took in college to become a teacher. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -

Interesting....I think I handle my life differently than some... When I get home I cannot wait to hear Skymedic's stories about his day....be they positive or negative, it is what his life was while we were apart.... Likewise...I love sharing my humorous stories about my students and my not so humorous...I just want him to understand what my world is like.... Neither of us obsess about it...we share...laugh or hug or both...whatever is appropiate..offer advice....or not...and then go on with our evening. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

The really nice thing about getting an imac is that now my home computer is compatible with my work...and our daughter's school computers are also macs.... too bad medic's ipod is formatted to a pc!!!! (although he figured out how to solve that....just a bit of extra work.) ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Don Kirlin even ate breakfast with us.....I love skydiving!!!!! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

For those of you who are interested..... The celebration of life for my father was amazing. there were probably just over 150 people who came...over the course of four hours. August Busch had donated 30 cases of beer, so we have a little left... anyway...people came, had a drink, gave hugs, and told stories about my dad. and there were plenty to tell. he was always a bit crazy and fun...so there were a lot of people who really loved him. i saw one of his law partners cry. a strong man from whom i had never seen any emotion. i listened to a high school buddy of my dad tell stories on him that dad would NEVER had told me... there was laughter, and tears, and a lot of wonderful memories. we put out a lot of pics and several albums full of more pics. there was a place for people to share a story or two...some e-mailed in advance, some written while they were there... Dad's secratary described how he taught her to heat up a grilled cheese sandwich for his lunch. The first time she was not allowed to do it...only to watch. She was to put the sandwich up on the edge of the plate so air could circulate all around it. She was to heat it 11 seconds on the first side and nine on the second. He usually quizzed her when she delivered it to his office to make sure she was following his instructions. THAT was my dad. It was a beautiful, happy, sad, joyful, tearful night. Perfect. Thanks to all of you who sent me thoughts, prayers, messages, etc. during all of this. I really do appreciate it. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Michele.... This is what I was looking for...we are already pulling pictures from each part of his life and planning to mount them on little cards with a brief description for those who do not recognize the picture. We want those all over the house. We are planning to have several places where people can jot down the outline of their favorite "Lew" story....and there are lots. This was a man who the first time the ST. Louis Rams went to the superbowl, he got all dressed up in rams gear from head to toe, and then put two little blue and yellow footballs around his crotch with blue and yellow curling ribbon....he looked ricidulous but totally my dad!!!! This is the man who went to the neighborhood Christmas party with a red string wig with little ornaments attached to it. Crazy, but totally my dad! I appreciate everyon'e's input on how to best celebrate his life. He left vague instructions....just celebrate and drink beer. I like the idea of playing some of his favorite music, especially since he liked Souza marches...it is hard to feel too somber when those are playing! Thanks all! Anne

Your Skydiving Goals for 2005?
FallinWoman replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well...I have not jumped a whole lot in the past two years....and I am honeymooning at Rantoul....so... I want to jump my ass off this spring and summer so I can be a crazy jumper at WFFC. I want to kiss my new husband in freefall at the WFFC. I want to finally get a new canopy.....so I can sell this one back to the previous owner. I want to have a blast and be safe. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -
I love anything red.....and drink crap/cheap wine most of the time. This time of year, however, August Busch sends my family a box of twelve bottles of wine. I do not drink the whites, but damn were there some good reds this year....if only I had been sober enough to remember what they were.... ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Instead of a funeral or a service for my father, we are having a celebration of life, as per his wishes. We are inviting people to my mom's house to have a beer in honor of my deceased father. Have any of you attended such events? Did they seem ok? What did you like or dislike about such an event? We still have over a week to plan it, so I would love to hear any advice you have for us as we plan such an event. Thanks! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

I have made a couple of amazing connections because of this site.... Because of one of those connections...I am getting married on August 6! I blame HH. I met Skymedic solely because of this site. What a blessing! The most amazing thing to me is that I know I can go anywhere in the world and find someone I "know" . Even if I have not really corresponded with the person, I know there are skydivers out there who will help me out because of this site....and I will do the same for anyone who needs it...What a great world! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

I'm excited about medical procedures! Am I a freak?
FallinWoman replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire

Which way should your closing pin point on your neck?
FallinWoman replied to cvfd1399's topic in The Bonfire
I say left.....that is the way I put my first closing pin necklace on...and that is the way it feels normal to me. I am sure we can create all sorts of hidden meanings behind the pin facing left or right, but in the end it comes down to personal preference. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -
And this is why I do the laundry at our house. There are just too many variables....like Skymama said...there are certain things that do not get dried....way too complicted for my man.... ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!
