Next drug litigation goldmine for mass tort lawyers...
FallinWoman replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't know what you mean by the "school establishment and the NEA", but speaking as a teacher... In my eight years of teaching (that is over 800 students) I believe that I have had one TRULY ADD child and two or three TRULY ADHD children. I have had hundreds on one drug or another. I do not approve of drugs, nor do any of my colleagues with whom I discuss such issues. We are all in agreement that it comes down to parents setting and enforcing limits. I cannot fix 15 years of lack of discipline in 270 minutes a week. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -
And how do you know that it causes back pain?? What scientific experiment was conducted and what data was collected that proves that the cat has back pain and that the declawing caused it? My old cats have always still been able to run and jump and climb right up til the end.....even though they were declawed at an early age. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

They are crdible sourses, but they are just making blaket statements about the issue. They are not proving it. Just because someone creidble says something does not make it true. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

From that website: Again....that is a blaket statement that they are not proving. Just because someone says it on a website does not mean that I believe it. Where is there scientic evidence? What studies did they conduct? What was their study group and control group? What conclusion are we able to draw from the data?? ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

But again....my scientific mind does not believe every statement made on the internet. Where is your proof that it handicaps the cat? That it causes long term physical or psychological effects? Your passion is admirable, but I am from missouri, you have to Show Me. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

I like the idea of Procedure #3, although I would point out (maybe the obvious) that you try once...and then go to Procedure #1 or #2...you are losing altitude fast at this point! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Amen, Sister! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Which is why I believe that if a cat is going to go outside on a regular basis, they do need their claws...for defense. My cats declawed cats have all been indoors only...no need for defense, no need for claws. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Here Is what Skymedic chose to do last weekend. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Why is it that someone who is not against declawing cannot talk about things from the cats perspective, but those who oppose it can? None of you are cats, wither, so how do you know the psychological trauma caused by this? I have read every link in this thread as well as the recone one. All of them spout terrible looking statistics that are meaningless. You cannot tell me that 15% of declawed cats develop an aversiln to using the litter box sometime in the five years following surgery without having a control group, of the same age cats, and telling me how many of them develop a litter box aversion. There are also blanket statements about all the terrible things that happen....a cat become withdrawn because he cannot defend himself. How do you know that is the reason? Did he tell you that? Yes, the surgery is painful. Yes, it removes their fingers to the first digit. No, this does not cause them to be permanently handicapped. People live perfectly normal lives after losing fingers or toes.....they are not handicapped. Plus....cats do their sensing through the pad of their foot....we use our finger tips. Declawing does not damage the pad. In my life I have had about 15 cats, two of whom were/are not declawed. One because she went outside. One because we just haven't done it yet to our kitten. I have never seen (of those other 13) one cat with issues stemming from having their claws removed. They have still been able to run, jump, climb, play, use the litter box, etc. No amount of your blanket statements or links to terribly non-scientific websites has convinced me there is a problem at all. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

Skymedic would wear a ring right now (we are engaged) if I got him one. The one he wants, though, is what he wants as his wedding band. The wedding band is more important to me than that he show the world he is taken. I told him I would kick his ass if he spent more than $1000 on my engagement ring. We already had a house, and thus a mortgage payment, as well as a kid, and a custody lawyer..... The ring he will get as his wedding band will cost more than my engagement ring, and I am thrilled about that. I love my ring. It has just over one carat total in three stones...I get a lot of compliments because it is a little different than the traditional solataire engagement ring. And he loves the ring that will be his wedding band...all is good. In the end I would have said yes with no ring. I would have insisted on a wedding band. That is it. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

The amazing part is when he went airborn he cleared all four lanes of Lindbergh, a very busy street. i am just so grateful that he didn't take anyone else out with his reckless driving. We drive this stretch all the time. Symedic takes this highway to work....right past the accident scene. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!

They didn't prepare me in teacher's college
FallinWoman replied to FallinWoman's topic in The Bonfire
In my eight years of teaching I have dealt with a lot of kids with a variety of problems. I just have never had to deal with a kid eating a pringles can. Thankfully this kid is messed up enough across the board that I don't have to deal with this alone. His other teachers and principal will back me up. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! -
I guess that depends who is doing the carrying and where they are taking you. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!
