Fine, then the government should stay out of all marriages. They shouldn't recognize anything BUT civil unions whether gay or straight. If they are however going to recognize straight marriages, then to not recognize a same sex one is discrimination no matter how you slice it. If it is a religious union then the government has no business being involved. If it isn't then they have no business discriminating. Coming up with a different term for it (i.e. civil union) is just a not so backhanded way of saying we are begrudgingly giving you the same rights because we have to, but don't think you are equal because you aren't. When fuel prices first started to get out of control a few years ago, TK at Z-hills put off raising ticket prices as long as he could. Eventaully he raised them. At one point fuel prices started to drop back down again and it was looking like they were going to stay that way so he DID drop the ticket prices back down a bit. Eventually things got even worse for fuel prices and they have been raised several times since then. I have no doubt that if fuel prices went back down so would our ticket prices. I can say this because it already happened last time fuel dropped back down. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I rarely post in SC but I have to break my own rules to ask this question. I am trying to understand something. For the last few years many people on the left have been saying that the economy was falling apart. A house of cards ready to come crashing down. People on the right have insisted that the economy was very strong and growing even stronger. The right insisted that tax cuts were working and doing their job. The left claimed the opposite. So how do the people that have been defending the right's economic policies all along explain the current state of the economy. It is pretty clear that things are bad and getting worse every day. Did we not cut taxes enough? Was it the left preventing the right from doing what needed to be done. Clearly what was done didn't work and plenty on the left have spent the last few years predicting the current mess. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

The "nation will live to regret what the court has done today," Scalia said. He was supported by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. What a surprise that these are the 4 that dissented. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I have had 2 removed via laser. It was extremely painful, but it worked flawlessly. Both tats were solid black and both are completely gone. No scaring to speak of. The best advice I can give you is to spend the money and go to a good high end dermatologist to get it done. Don't go to a hack or you will end up with scars and it will look awful. Mine was a very high end doc and he charged me a buttload of money but it was worth every penny. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Zhills 6th Annual 4-Way Scrambles, Sunday May 25th
okalb replied to lauras's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I just want to post a special thanks to Lauras. She helped me pull all of this together. This event has gotten bigger every year and I can no longer do it on my own. She was also nice enough to spend her birthday running around making sure the scrambles worked. Happy Birthday!!!!! Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -

New front riser loops design from UPT
okalb replied to Sergey-san's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
This is far from a new design. The first time I saw this was about 1999 when Tony Hathaway came up with the idea and put them on his rig. He has put many thousands of Jumps on them. He still jumps them to this day. Over the years several people as Z-hills have come up with variations of them. The most common variation is now known as the Salony loops because they were a combined effort from Tony and Sally Hathaway. There are probably half a dozen of us that have been jumping the Salonys for at least 4 or 5 years. Tony actually still uses the older style like the "new" ones made by UPT. The newer Salonys have a ring around the top of the loop that connect to the slink. Here is a picture of Tony from a few years ago landing with his original design. http://www.tonyhathaway.com/downloads/tonyloops2.jpg Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -

2-4 days to thaw in the fridge. If you leave it out in the sink it should be good by tomorrow night. You don't need to worry about it spoiling since it will still be defrosting the whole time. If tomorrow it is still not ready, you can sink it COLD water. You don't want to use warm because it will start to cook the outside. Also, take it out of the plastic vacuum sealed wrapper if it is in one, that makes a big difference in the time it takes. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Let me preface this by saying that I have absolutely no experience flying wingsuits, but I have quite a bit of experience organizing larger skydives. Sorry, but that attitude is completely unacceptable. The rule of skydiving should always be safety first. I am all for not leaving people behind. I do it every weekend. We have organizers that work with newer jumpers to get their skills up. We don't take a newbie on a 40 way just so that they won't be left out. We work with them and teach them and when they are ready to go to the next level we help them progress. Not leaving people behind means teaching them, not throwing them into something that is way over their heads and potentially dangerous, because you don't want to hurt their feelings. No bird left behind should mean that no matter what your skill level, there will be people and coaches and organizers for you to jump with. Not that you will be welcomed with open arms on any skydive regardless of skills or experience. That is dangerous and just plain silly. Just last week I helped organize a 40 way track dive. Someone with 105 jumps asked to be on it. I felt badly about it, but I had to tell him no. Someone with 105 jumps has no business being on a 40 way regardless of whether it is a tracking dive, freefly dive, or heaven forbid wingsuit dive. I am all for having fun, but there is nothing wrong with having a proper plan for breakoff. There is also nothing wrong with telling someone that they are not ready to be on a certain jump. As long as you have jumps going on that they are ready to be on. Since there is pretty much nobody in the world that has any real experience with flocks of this size. I think it is wise to get feedback from people of all disciplines. This can only help come up with a comprehensive plan that makes sense. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I always fly continental. The routes in the evenings from EWR to TPA are a disaster. I will say that for the last 2 months or so things have gotten much better and that is represented in the numbers. They have gone from about 40% ontime to the 60% range according to the stats. While that is a HUGE improvement, when you start that low, there is only one direction to go. I have definitely seen an improvement over the last few months though. I actually had a flight arrive early last week. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

You have got to be kidding me! I fly in and out of EWR almost every week and those are words I would NEVER use to describe how thing run there. There is a reason why it was voted worst airport in the country this year. Most of my flights have an average ontime rate below 40%. If that is what you consider running pretty smooth then we have very different ideas about what smooth means. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

I don't think that whites got lesser sentences than blacks for the same offense, but in many states the penalties for Crack are much stiffer than those for cocaine. The argument has been that cocaine is much more expensive and generally a "white" drug whereas crack is cheap and generally a "black" drug. Not saying I agree totally as there are plenty of whites who smoke crack too. But I have heard that argument made many times. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Does anyone have a recipe for REALLY good homemade whipped cream?
okalb replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
I have also recently discovered that if you use non pasturized heavy cream (found in the organic section) the consistency and taste are much better. It will also stay whipped (without falling or seperating) MUCH longer. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana -
One option is to put another hard drive in it and install windows. Then you can put your old drive in as a secondary drive and hopefully access the data on it if it isn't completely fried. Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana
