  1. Like Beemers and was considering a 328CI but everyone tells me the maintenence bills are rediculous. Thinking of going with this instead. Bad Mofo Yeah, bimmers are a "bit" more expensive to maintain down the road... mine is still covered under the maintenance contract though. RX8s are great cars too, cheaper maintenance and insurance will probably make the car's TCO a bit more easy to live with.
  2. I drive for 5 hours just to get to Eloy... there are closer dropzones but I rather jump out of Otters and SkyVans with top-notch people around than out of Cessnas at the tiny dropzones near my home. I just did all of ASP w/no rejumps in 2½ days there and it was great (except for the crop dusters flying all night long keeping me awake ) NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  3. the time spent fumbling with the air canister could be better spent getting out of the rig... my $0.02 NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  4. I have REALLY toned down my driving in recent years... plus I have an awesome radar detector for it so hopefully I won't have to "exploit" my military service record to get out of any ticket. But if it helps just once, it will be worth the $16 extra I had to pay to get it. A better pic for any bimmerphiles that might be lurking. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  5. I have the NM Army Veteran plate so I can get out of tickets... ;) NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  6. I am sure if/when I have to perform a cutaway I will be letting out a "girly scream" and yelling large amounts of profanity at my reserve until it inflates properly. Glad you made it back safely! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  7. Well if someone was bragging about their sexual escapades in a trip to altitude in a skyvan I wouldn't be able to hear them anyway... that is a really loud plane... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  8. I vote for a rappel as well... you can decend extremely fast and don't have to worry about winds, landing hazards, or debris tearing your canopy. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  9. Skydiving + TopGear = major woody I absolutely LOVE that show, and download the episodes online since I don't get BBC. :( Jeremy Clarkson and company are the BEST hosts next to Tiff Needle of 5th Gear of course. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  10. I also feel a bit more relaxed on the climb if there are tandems on board... Instead of stressing over the exit I just look at the often paniced expressions on their faces and it just makes me feel better. I guess I AM insensitive. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  11. 0:7:lots Graduated ASP, too many firsts to mention... I owe several cases of beer to the instructors of Skydive Arizona... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  12. I'll stick with my 280 personally... I like to get in more than just one jump and a short ride to the hospital before lunch... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  13. One of the tandem vidiots got my AFF1 exit on tape and then played it at the bar!!! I looked about like I was ready to pass-out. No problems with anxiety now that I can do unpoised exits with confidence...
  14. ...maybe next year NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  15. This is exactly why I like to take my sweet-ass time to recheck my rig/equip and saunter out to the plane in advance. Rushing makes me stressed and more liable to forget something rather important. Besides I am a civilian now, and am entitled to drag ass if I want to. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  16. I am still stressed until I hit the wind on my jumps, then it all melts away... Of course, AZ Airspeed's 8+way exits from the SkyVan that make the plane shake don't do anything to ease my nerves either. Glad you had fun! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  17. I banned myself from flirting with any girls on the DZ... my reputation is still good AFAIK in Arizona. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  18. might as well take both... quarters won't break in a bad landing. I can't wait to do a balloon jump, sounds like fun!!! I need a "bit" more experience first though, the tetrahedron on the LZ is still my best friend. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  19. Don't worry man, it just takes practice to judge the distance better. In my "massive" 9 jumps I have had a nice soft butt-landing on all but one. On my ASP graduation jump I did it without radio assist, and would have stood it up, except I let pressure off one of the toggles slightly and tipped over after I touched down.
  20. lol, AN-2 "Colt"... we used to get overflown by those when I was stationed in Korea for training... the N Koreans were supposed to try and use those to infiltrate their SF guys and kill us in our sleep. Too bad they are freaking loud... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  21. WORST THREAD EVER!!!!! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  22. Sounds like a typical super-sized helping of typical small-business immaturity. I, and others I am sure, would love to go a couple of rounds on that ass-hat for making such comments, but it really wouldn't help anything. My advice is just move on. People that lame usually end up screwing themselves in the end and don't even need any extra help doing it. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  23. Otter and Sky Van only for me as well... I don't think my home DZ even does jump runs in their Cessnas. ...and yes, I know I am spoiled. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  24. lol, and I wonder why people say I am "insensitive" NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  25. I shut my machines off during the day anyway... I used to leave them on all the time, not anymore though. WEP is good enough, for the most part, but I don't even use that anymore... I stumbled my apt complex and there were no other 802.11b signals so I am not too worried. Of course, if I lived in a dorm or something, it would be a different story. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
