  1. Good to hear you're still in one piece! Was the camera jumper part of your group? Did you both turn into each other's airspace, or did one come from above/behind? Any extenuating circumstances?
  2. It's fucking old. The whole CN thing was cool for five minutes a couple of months ago...
  3. "Dear XX, This letter is formal notice of my resignation. In accordance with the notice period specified in my contract, my last day will be May XX. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for the knowledge and skills I've gained while working at XX. It's been a pleasure [mention specific project/accomplishment here]. I've learned a lot from your approach to business. I look forward to working with you in the future. Regards, TheDonMan." Congrats on the new job!
  4. Pretty please? With sugar on top?
  5. Do a Search. It's been discussed/debated to death. Tom Buchanan's (tombuch) article is the definitive word on the subject, though it's worth noting that not all US dropzones appear to apply the rules as set out by Tom.
  6. Some options: Optima + Viso. Neptune + Viso. Optima + Alti-Track. Neptune Wave + Viso. Optima + Neptune. Optima + Analog alti. Neptune + Analog alti. etc, etc. Lots of different combinations will work. Personally, I'd go for the Optima + Viso, because I'm leery of Alti-2's software development skills. If you need a second audible, buy a Solo or a 2nd-hand Pro-Track or Pro-Dytter. Viso won't.
  7. My take: it's insecurity, and it's usually manifested in guys under 25 with less than 300 jumps. Once/If they spend a little more time in the sport they tend to chill out. Yup. I really need to round out my abilities.
  8. I got it, even if I still have no idea what a connex is .
  9. Yup. She's an after-market conversion with a Garrett engine. Some photos. The top two pics are as she looks today. Based at Sydney Skydivers, Picton. Primary owner and pilot is Jon McWilliams, who manages the DZ, was on WT06, and has been to 5 or 6 World Meets in 4- and 8-way. Top bloke.
  10. Bet? Tail taken off by a reserve deploying in the door. Pilot got out at under 1000ft.
  11. There's some really nice photos to illustrate the difference on WayCool's Black-Eye (0.25) page.
  12. It's kind of minor - much like having an engine in a car makes the car go faster. Or like having wings on an airplane help it fly a little bit better
  13. If you're OC, don't launch too far - you'll completely hose the tail. In my limited experience, if the tail stays low in the door, leaves at the right time, and presents, the rest works itself out. And yeah, grip switch.
  14. http://www.rmwjumpsuits.com also have a nice colour chooser.
  15. Toogoolawah is a damn nice fun-jumper-oriented DZ. Chilled, laid-back, etc. I think you'll get good instruction there and have a great time to boot. If you time your course right, you could do AFF, then a Learning Curve camp in the one trip. Recommended if you have the pennies and the time...
  16. Apropos of nothing, my Samurai 170 opens softer than my Spectre 190 ever did.
  17. Yep! That's a real pity. One thing you might try: ask someone to video your landings, then ask the swoopers to review the footage at the end of the day when they're not busy. Also, I've gotten loads of benefit from doing a day of coached hop n pops, with video and debriefs. It might be an idea to get a group of folk together and approach someone to spend a day with all of you - it would reduce the cost to a managable amount...
  18. Listen to rehmwa's advice. It's good. If you need practical help, might I suggest getting a highly-skilled and current 4/8-way person to jump with you? They can help you with the more modern techniques that weren't being taught ten years ago.
