  1. Better yet, go jump a Lightning and go report on its terminal openings . Note for some people: this is sarcasm. Please don't take a Lightning to terminal. It hurts.
  2. The FAA only has jurisdiction over a very small part of the world's airspace .
  3. Well said. Or take the Irish approach by getting drunk and making a pass at her.

    Well . . .

Thirded. Nick mate: you've got lots to say and most () of it's worth listening to. Just buy for the folks you know that you scared and I'm sure it'll all be ok.
  5. Disclaimer: not a doctor, just someone who's damaged too many joints playing soccer. I doubt a normal bought-in-a-sports-store-or-pharmacy elastic ankle support would be strong enough to transfer a break to the tib/fib. However, my major concern would be a weakening of the muscles in your ankle. Ankle supports are not designed to be used with healthy joints - they take too much of the load and with continued use the muscle atrophies. If you do use one, put it on about 20 minutes before undertaking the exercise, and remove it straight afterwards.
  6. Nah. It's all about making 40 jumps, learning to sitfly, learning to backfly, drinking too much, talking shite, making friends, making inappropriate comments, going swimming at 3am, watching the sun come up, dancing like a fool, and needing a holiday once it's all over.
  7. Lesson: drink beer from bottles with twist-off caps .
  8. Nothing. I took up skydiving four days after I moved to this country .
  9. That's not fair. I'm sure Frenchy is a very attractive man .
  10. They're here. I might just have to go visit when I'm home in the July/August timeframe...
  11. What are the dimensions of the shops? Are the internal walls solid brick or plaster on a wooden frame? Ditto the external walls? Are the shops side by side or some distance apart?
  12. You have to pay a service charge for an electronic transfer? . Nuts. Most companies in Ireland/UK/Australia offer a discount for direct debit payment. As for overseas, you should really only pay using an escrow service. It's too dodgy otherwise.
  13. It's in production, with a US release date of 7th Oct 2005.
  14. You can get one similar in the UK.
  15. He's gotta be lying too. I refuse to believe that 18. can be right in both lists . edit 'cause I can't read.
  16. Unless he's changed his mind, from reading his last post in Photography & Video, I doubt it'll get released. At least he's not going to sell it .
  17. Why do you guys still use checks? A direct bank deposit is easier, faster, and much harder to forge. If you need payment protection use an escrow service or a credit card. I haven't written or cashed a check since I lived in NYC in 1998...
  18. Another a-student-at-our-DZ story: A student loses altitude awareness on first AFF jump and is dumped out by instructor. Canopy opens. Student decides it's time to deploy, so looks for ripcord, can't find it, and initiates emergency procedures. Instructor's reaction: "Did you not notice the open canopy above your head?!"
  19. According to the thread in Incidents, he busted himself doing a low turn, leading to this whole mess. Edited to add a link to the thread in question.
  20. I wouldn't go so far as to call it many. They're there, but they don't particularly dominate. Hell, you can grow palm trees in Ireland!
  21. You'd disable the whole security suite on a net-connected machine?
  22. Why would she want to go there? It's a dodgy marketing affiliate site... Norton is most likely blocking it to save her from herself.
  23. You might want to try posting this in the Skydiving History & Trivia forum. It'd probably get a better response there. edit: now been moved.
