  1. What's the name of the guy that provides a lot of the OpFor aircraft for the military?
  2. My thinking is that it's significantly too small. Weighing 152lb means you'll load your reserve at just under 1.4 (152 + 22 / 126 = 1.38). If you're low, possibly injured, and likely off-DZ, do you really want to be loading an unfamiliar canopy at 1.4 as you try and put it down in someone's backyard? You won't impress the cute chick by the pool if you femur in under your reserve 'coz it's loaded too highly . For what it's worth, my advice would be to look at a reserve around the 170 size for maximum titanium avoidance potential
  3. Exactly . Ah, seen the pic. She's old enough. Poor daddy. If he'd any hair left, he'd soon be tearing it out .
  4. I'm far too far away to do anything. I'm just curious to see how much stress you've let yourself in for .
  5. I'll also vote for coaching. It's done wonders for our team. We improve at about double the rate when we've got a coach on board. When approaching a coach, we give them a tape of our last n jumps, and enter a dialog with them on what they can bring to our party. The coach has a pretty broad hand in what we jumps we do when we're with them. Different coaches have different strengths; it may be worth using different coaches at different stages throughout the season. Otherwise, what Ron said.
  6. Doesn't work so well in a Skyvan .
  7. Last five for me: RJD2 - Scott Walker - No Regrets The Bees - Amina Menina Tatu - How Soon Is Now CK & Supreme Dream Team - Dreamer Just dropped a random selection of MP3s onto my phone last night.
  8. A little, but nothing major. Just pay attention to your instructors and smile
  9. I can't speak for the bunkhouse, but the IHOP is perfectly acceptable. Think up-market youth hostel. As for visas, you should be able to travel on a holiday visa, if your passport is from a country that participates in the visa wavier program. The UK is one such country.
  10. My guess (and it is really just a guess): Run-in at 200. Green at 0.7 long. You could probably push the spot longer without major problems, as the winds at 3k will help those long get back.
  11. I'm regularly first out (4-way is my thing at the moment). If the spot is short, you can't turn towards the DZ until the next group has opened. If the spot is long or I'll still look to make sure everyone in the next group opens ok, and that we're not too close. If we're not first out, that extends to finding the prior group as well. I think most 4-way folk at our DZ are aware of and follow these procedures. It probably helps that a couple of the instructors have been running canopy safety seminars after jumping on Saturdays recently.

    Who is this

Have another beer and go for it. I need some entertainment
  13. I saw Crash making a camera condom about six weeks ago, so yep, he's still doing them! If you have difficulty contacting him, let me know and I'll grab him next time I'm at the DZ.
  14. Some Sony camcorders can operate as digitisers too. Check the manual...
  15. It's one of a Skyvan (2 engines, back door), an Otter (2 engines, side door), a 750XL (1 engine, low wing), or a Beaver (1 engine, high wing, taildragger). If I was guessing, I'd say it'll most likely be the 750XL.
  16. Arrrgh. Not this one again! In a forelorn attempt to forestall the inevitable religious war, may I point out that the pros and cons of pull-out vs throw-away systems has been discusssed numerous times on these very forums? And might I suggest that it's not necessary to flog that dead horse in this thread? And that a Search will turn up plenty of information, including a number of posts from Bill Booth, the inventor of both systems? Thanks.
  17. Good. I wasn't at the DZ last weekend, but I'll definitely be there this weekend
  18. Absolutely brilliant idea .
  19. What does this mean? It's an idiom I'm not familiar with...
  20. It's legal, but only because of a hole in Russian copyright law. When you buy songs from them, the artists & record-labels don't get compensation. That said, you can get your music in all sorts of nice formats like VBR MP3 and OGG. Much better than iTunes in that respect.
  21. I have a half-bottle sitting on my shelf at home. But given where I live, that's not surprising. It's a pretty decent cheaper end of the market sweet rum.
  22. Your #1 strength is badly phrased. You never have 'adequate' training; you have 'excellent' or 'in-depth' or 'extensive'. Adequate implies that you have just about enough, which is an impression you don't want to give in an interview. As for me, I'm perfect. And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you .
