  1. Two points to note: 1- I sincerely hope you're getting canopy coaching. You're being very aggressive in your downsizing, and there's quite a high chance you'll hurt yourself. 2- You'll have difficulty travelling to jump. Many DZs won't let you jump an elliptical loaded at 1.5 when you've only got a B licence. Make sure you check before you travel.
  2. The BigAirSportz owner's manual provides some handy tips. It's freely downloadable from the website. One trick I find handy: If you find yourself being pulled along by the canopy, put a foot on the bridle. Walk towards the canopy. The central topskin of the canopy can't move, but the rest of it can. You end up with the nose facing downwind, and a much more controllable canopy.
  3. Get your boss to start a phone-in collection to send you to the penal colonies . Picton will be going off over Christmas. Nationals are in early Jan, so every team will be going hard, there'll be a shedload of birds there, and there'll be at least four turbines on hand. I've heard rumours that the Skyvan will be dedicated to the birdies. How bad
  4. Sydney Skydivers has a staff rigger, and there's quite a few Packer As on site. If you want to schedule it, call the office and ask for Rory. He's the rigger.
  5. They're all good rigs. Read the articles here, and use the Search Posts link above for lots more detail. Welcome
  6. I don't think there are any airworthy DH Mosquitos left . Such a cool plane.
  7. Yes you will. Talk to your instructors about it...
  8. It's really not all that hard. The APF Op Regs are generated from an MS Word document. The new office workflow for revising the SIM goes as follows: Backup last year's version. Clear all revision marks. A revision mark is simply a line on the left-hand-side of the page. Every time you edit a section, place a revision mark on the left-hand side of the affected paragraph. There's no need to overcomplicate things. In fact, given that PageMaker is a business publishing tool, I'd be surpised if it didn't have the facility to automate most of this. Dig out the manual
  9. Good call. For reference, I've never had problems, even through scuba gloves.
  10. Most I can empathise with, but: ...nah. Another year older, more memories, more experiences, and hopefully a little wiser to boot. All good
  11. If the problem is knowing what the changes are, might I suggest a quick look at the APF Op Regs (pdf) for a possible solution? To quote: Makes it easy to see what's changed at a glance!
  12. Nope. I may be teaching grandma to suck eggs here, but are you sure they're from skydivingmagazine & baserigs and aren't joe jobs? Usually when I start getting crap like this it's because a third party with both my email address and that of the purported sender in their Outlook Address Book has had their machine compromised. View the message source and do a reverse lookup on the source IP. See it it resolves to a customer machine on a large cable/dsl network. Betcha it does .
  13. Getcha. We usually put three abreast and back everyone up so the last row are by the pilot. I don't believe we've had any issues with snags, though I'd like to see a pic of your door - I can imagine small changes having major effects on the likelihood of snags.
  14. We regularly go with three abreast for the divers. Why do you say just two?
  15. Is the mount a custom design? If so, would you mind posting some plans or pics?
  16. Threesome! You pull the chicks and I'll join in once the bullshitting sensitivity is done.
  17. If you want a hardcopy, you can order from Skydiving Magazine for $5, postpaid. Or your local skydiving gear shop might carry it.

    flu

And so is bigfoot . Unless the 'celt has been in SE Asia recently, the chances of it being bird flu are basically nil.
  19. The Economist did a really good series on the economics of illegal drugs three or four years ago.
  20. For something a little different: Aug - Espace Boogie, France. AN-72! Oct - Equinox Boogie, Australia. Three weeks of carnage
