Have fun mate. You never know, I might just see you in China or SE Asia one of these days...

Question: on a small, highly-loaded elliptical with the brakes set, is it possible that you don't have enough control range with your rear risers to stop a turn?
-
I thought it was funny. And my brother is in Japan. Chill. 'Tis Bonfire

A big VX!! There's a guy on my DZ with a VX 142. So it's definitely possible.

Nah, I just do a good impression of a three-year-old . Thanks for the info one and all. 'Tis always good to learn something new.

Have you ever done that? What canopies, have you or would you use? Dave safire. mainly. Until a couple of weeks ago, my main canopy was a Spectre 190. I've also put 20-30 jumps on a semi-elliptical Safire2 170. I've just switched to a fully-elliptical Samurai 170. The difference between a Safire2 and a Samurai at the same loading is like night and day. Putting a student under a Sam would be bloody stupid; I doubt I'd be here if I'd started jumping a fully-elliptical canopy straight off student status. At our DZ, many jumpers purchase Safire2s as their first canopy. That's when they have 20-30 jumps, and it seems to work just fine at an appropriate loading. I think you do need to differentiate between Safire2/Sabre2/Pilot, all of which are tapered to some degree, and the fully-elliptical Sam/XF2/Stiletto. Very different canopies.

The APF website has a list of all DZs in Australia. The biggest in QLD is Ramblers, at Toogoolawah, approximately 2hrs outside Brisbane. Cessna Caravans, nice facilities, and a swimming pool make it an excellent, though expensive, DZ. They run regular Learning Curve camps, aimed at helping newer jumpers acquire the kind of skills that'll keep them alive in the longer term. Well worth attending if you're around at the right time.

AADs are required for all sub D licence holders. AAD or RSL is required for D licence holders. E and F can do without if they so please. APF.

Congrats Nik!

This is giving back to the skydiving community at its best

I thought that bears repeating, for the greater good of all our Californian denizens.

The format is humps : jumps : owed. Humps can be replaced by something else if it's sufficiently important or interesting. But to take the place of shagging, it'd better be damn interesting! My numbers: 1 reserve handle dislodged during a jump : 12 : 0 12 team jumps, with our coach standing in for our injured point. One interesting jump where a stuffed-up block move dislodged my reserve handle. Fortunately, it didn't result in a premature.

Definitely.

Three is better than two.

I'm completely out of touch, but some of his Perfecto mixes from the late nineties were great. His mix of Mansun's Wide Open Space still sends shivers up and down my spine. For one reason or another, I don't think I ever saw him DJ live.

If you get on the rear risers a little it flattens out nicely and makes it easy to get back from long spots. Much better than most of my team-mates canopies in that regard

Are west coast chicks as cool as they say they are?

I know a guy with a VX 142. -
dammit! Frustrating isn't it? It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife. ironic? No. Bad cutlery management.

Why?

Barigos are endemic here because Parachutes Australia sells them. They do the job, are affordable and pretty tough. Sold.

I doubt there are many in Lithuania. Nearest outside the country would probably be Sweden. -
Custom made harness/containers??? / need advice
bob.dino replied to Zydrius's topic in Gear and Rigging
I wouldn't jump a rig that badly fitting, and there's no way in hell I'd try to freefly in it. If that's the case, it sounds like the dealer is at fault. Whether the dealer will pay for your rig to be fixed is a different matter. I know some dealers that would eat the cost and others I wouldn't be so sure about. Best of luck.
