I painted myself into a corner at work. The PDX pilot supervisor for the company I work for was bullshitting about jumping ( he had about 3,000 jumps then) and I said so what? He said "put you money where your mouth is" and I did. Made a tandem with him shortly thereafter and then took the FJC a month or so later. I've been flying airplanes since I was a little kid and thought that people that jump out of them are crazy, and I am right! Then again, jumpers are the best, most interesting people I have met in my life!

Bad news, it gets worse when you get older No matter what I do now, stay up late get hammered, etc., I only sleep 5-6 hours a night. Oh well, the big dirt nap aint that far off so I should enjoy all this awake shit I guess

First off, this is in NO way a reference to Holly's accident. I never met Holly but I almost feel like I know her from reading her posts here and the incredible outpouring of the DZ.commers stories and pics about her. I wish that I had met her in this life, maybe later I hope. How about if everyone uses a lot more judgement when getting ready to land? You got in an A/C, ascended to 14-15 grand, had a nice 60-70 second freefall, great canopy ride with some radical shit up high. Then, maybe fly a conservative approach and have a nice stand up landing at the end? It breaks my heart to read about jumpers getting seriously injured and dying when it's time to land. I'm an old fart and should probably have been dead many times over in my life (but not from skydiving) and would like to know that all you junior zoomers will live to be old farts too. And please, refer to the first paragraph before you start the hate mail. Blue skies Holly, no black death. Mike

I interviewed with Delta Airlines long ago and they had about a 600 question thing on a computer that really pissed me off, then about a 5 minute interview with a shrink. One question from the shrink that still stands out is "what would you do if at the end of the shift, you can't find a wrench and think you left it in the A/C" My answer was call the Snap On Man......end of my possible career with Delta

It's to damn hot in Illinois in August. They should have moved that boogie to Spokane or somewhere else out here in the NW. I'm from the St Louis area and my relatives are still back there, to hot!!!!
