I use an Astra and I like it just fine. I hope that I never have to use it but am satisfied that it will work as advertised should I need it. As for it getting accidentally turned off?!? My switch is under a clear plastic cover, the cover has to be lifted up to access the switch. You can forget to turn it off at the end of the day and it will run the battery down pronto, but bet you only do this once, yeah, I speak from experience And as for having to turn it on and let it set itself up prior to every jump, I like that feature. Barometric pressure can change a lot out here (Oregon) during the day and it's nice to know that the unit is set for the current barometric pressure. (I know nothing about the Cypres's ability to compensate for pressure changes). The FXC12000 has a bad reputation and probably deserves it. I haven't heard anything bad about the Astra tho. And last but not least, Sunflyer777, what does my using an Astra have to do with how smart I am?!?

That was pretty funny infidel. But I triple quarentee you that it does have a battery.......usually.....

Hi Ron, I wasn't aware of any big problems with an Astra (which is what I have). I know the FXC12000 were a toss of the dice as to problems. If you have any info on why Astra's should have been on your list, let me know where I can read about them. Thanks, Mike

Yikes! A horseshoe on a reserve......that's a scary thought......

hmmmm......I hope that you were not refering to me being the "arrogant jumper" casue I'm not. At my experience level I do feel that I am compentent. I also feel that I will do my emergency procedures in the right sequence shoult that situation arise. That isn't arrogance

Excellent post, how true!

The ATF could have easily arrested Koresh in town where he went regularly. The ATF knew the Davidians were tipped off and came in anyway. The FBI sniper at Ruby Ridge that blew Mrs Weaver away is trained to fire a 6" group at 1,000 yards, was his problem his target was much to close for accuracy? Thank God that President Bush is in office now and hopefully another term. The aforemention crimes happened on clinton's watch. Had Gore gotten elected (which he didn't in spite of the hanging chads and all that bullshit), we would be much further down the road to not only gun control, but CONTROL in general. Billvon, I salute you here (mostly) you and I have more in common than i thought. As for the sheeple that have nothing to fear from the government, yes, you do.

Yeah, I agree, I went down to Safeway and watched them unload a truck!

Hi all, Multnomah county Oregon (Portland) is looking for someone fluent in Klingon to translate for the occasional mental patient that only speaks Klingon! This is no shit Multnomah county is also going to have a vote next Tuesday to impose a COUNTY income tax of 1.25% for county residents to partially fund the schools that are "the laughing stock of the nation" Geez.....and I thought that most of the fruits, nuts and flakes were in the Golden State (of course, that doesn't include jumpers in CA!)

nope, we need all the bad shit we can get! Earth first, we'll mine the other planets later....

to many to list but the best beater was a 59 Morris Minor convertible. Paid 75 bucks for it in 72. Didn't matter if the top was up or down either It croaked after a long road race with an old VW Beetle, about 50 miles on I-55 in Illinois. The Beetle beat us by a nose, about 57MPH. When I took my exit and the engine slowed down, the oil pressure light came on, so what we were on our way home! Threw a rod about 3 miles later but kept running about 10 MPH in 2nd gear. I noticed the paint peeling on the hood about the same time I noticed the black smoke in the rearview! Pulled into a gas station and asked the attendant for a fire extinguisher. Put out the fire, pushed the car across the highway and into a ditch, then proceeded to break all the windows with some large rocks, poor car.

I thought I was "old school"
-
that's $175 R/T total, not each
-
They're also saying it was 45 minutes into the flight. Damn, that thing climbs slower that a 727!
-
It would be very, very cool to fly to LP instead of driving. Are you able to estimate how much each share of the fuel costs will be? approx. $175 R/T from PDX.
