  1. Speedracer, say, for example, you were REALLY scared of snakes, would you want to spend time in somebody's company who spent most of their money on and time thinking about snakes? Of course given half a chance that person would discuss snakes for a very long time, maybe making you uncomfortable. Maybe some people who truly suffer from vertigo just aren't comfortable hearing about how people willingly jumping from planes. I know some skydivers are scared of heights, but to each their own. Can I make a suggestion? Always wear a skydiving T-shirt when you go out. That way the women who are interested will make an effort to meet you and the ones who don't like skydivers/skydiving won't waste your time. /s [drop till you party!]
  2. That's another thing : drunk=pissed angry=pissed off These expressions are used in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand as well as the UK. Hmmm, maybe america should start conforming to the rest of the English speaking world - that would be real good. /s [drop till you party!]
  3. £1000 will pay for your flight, your AFF AND your accomodation at Citrusdal in South Africa!!! Don't believe me? Check out the flight prices and AFF price (10 jumps inc. 2 consolidation jumps) on-line. The level of instruction and facilities are world class, and the weather is ideal in March/April. /s [drop till you party!]
  4. Ed Here's one I made up (and I'm pretty proud of it too!) : roflmfaopimp the pimp is for pissing in my pants Pretty cool, huh?
  5. Yes, and I don't think Albatros has his C license yet either, so I still think a good helmet would be a good investment. /s [drop till you party!]
  6. Don't you mean why is diaper the name for a nappy in the USA?
  7. Buy the absolute best helmet you can afford. Rather get a cheaper jumpsuit (especially considering you WILL be getting it very dirty/used very soon) and buy a good helmet. I bought a bonehead and can highly recommend it. Very comfortable and gives good protection. /s [drop till you party!]
  8. lol laughing out loud imho in my humble/honest opinion wtf what the f@ck? btw by the way There are loads more, but just keep asking as you come across them. /s [drop till you party!]
  9. Man, I just watched the Tom Sanders documentary that I got off that site - AWESOME!!! The Quincy footage, the George Bush bit, the base stunt, hell, I think I might just have to watch it again (for the 3rd time tonight). Those two files were huge (in the 'From TV' folder), but so worth the download wait. Any UK skydivers with crap net connections, contact me privately, it'll only cost you a self-addressed stamped envelope (as if work really needed all those blanks

    LOW

Dude, what is with you??? You have already told us you love pulling low, now you tell us you are jumping without an AAD. Well, I am going to do my best NOT to pull low and, yes, I do own a cypres. Do you know why? Because I am starting to really love skydiving and I want to be alive for a long time to enjoy it. I think maybe you are just trolling in a big way - I don't think you are somebody I would want to learn about skydiving from. I just checked your profile and you have your A license. So, an A-license skydiver who doesn't have an AAD and likes to pull low... Seems like your email address sums you up pretty accurately! /s [drop till you party!]
  11. Is it just me, or is there some serious flirting going on between our fearless leader and skymama? He'll jump with her AND pay for her jumpticket??? Stay tuned to this thread for further developments... /s [drop till you party!]
  12. Balls, people, it means balls.
  13. Yeah, the Beach rocks. Especially when the bar ladies climb up on the bar and give free tequila shots! As for those podium dancers in the white bikinis selling the beer... We will definitely need FFF there to lead us! /s [drop till you party!]
  14. No, in this forum it really doesn't matter and nobody ever said it did (I myself am 967 jumps short of my 1 000). However, why don't you at least register a profile with a username we can get to know (and hopefully love given time). I first started posting to this ng with an alias but had none of my personal details (inc. name) on it. It is just a bit frustrating for the rest of us because with lots of anonymous postings, we have no *feel* for who we are talking to. And, for the record, I lurk but don't post on rec.skydiving too, and I have seen the reaction anonymous posting generates there. I happen to prefer this ng because it is moderated (rarely and with discretion). Lurking is fine, but criticizing people anonymously isn't. /s [drop till you party!]
  15. lmfao Yes, and if you follow Mike's advice, just remember to delete that last *jump*...
  16. What, you mean the instructor wouldn't be giving a little *hands-on* coaching? /s [drop till you party!]
  17. And also, do you appreciate the irony of posting to this thread that you don't like this particular thread? All you did was bump it all the way back to the top again. And this thread was in fact started by Sis to STOP all the bitching. If you actually read the whole thread, you would realize that it actually became quite humourous. /s [drop till you party!]
  18. Question for smkjumper : Seeing as how they jump the North Pole, think you'll ever get the chance to jump Antarctica? I don't mean the South Pole, just the area where you work. BTW you must have the world's most extreme commute - summers in Alaska then 'summers' in the Antarctic. Must be great at parties when an accountant asks you 'So what do YOU do for a living?'
  19. Thanks Geoff You are right, I think it was more a case of me being new to the licensing structure. Only 967 jumps to go and I'll have my D!!!
  20. DAN, YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO SPEAK UP, I CAN'T HEAR A F*&^^ING WORD YOU ARE SAYING!!! WANNA FIGHT??!!
  21. Hi guys I just found out the BPA license requirements : the A and B are pretty much the same as USPA, however for the C you need 200 jumps (plus some other requirements) and for the D license you now need a whopping 1000 jumps! The C license will be the equivalent of the rest of the world's D licenses and you will be allowed to jump wingsuits, skysurfing etc. with the new C license. Do you guys think 1000 jumps for a D license is a bit many? Or is 200 too few? Would 500 jumps for a D license be better? I read an interview with a Golden Knight who said that he thinks you are still a student until about 500 jumps. Fact is, I will probably just get a USPA D license when I get to 200 jumps and I am in the states for a boogie. I am interested to know what you guys think of this. Should the jumps requirement for licenses be standardized internationally? British skydivers who have D licenses but less than 1000 jumps can upgrade their license (ie keep their D). It is just a bit demoralizing for me to think that it could take me years and years to get 1000 jumps and get that Holy Grail - my very own D license. /s [drop till you party!]
  22. You know you're a skydiver when you just spent £44,20 on public transport, lugging all your gear to a DZ you knew was rained out, just so they could check your rig, check your log-book and an instructor could sign off your A-license. Yup, after a minor 7 year break between jumps 11 and 12, I am happy to say that I finally have my A-license!!! Woo-hoo! [gwyneth paltrow] "Firstly I'd like to thank the academy, and my director and of course God for making airplanes so we could jump out of them" *sob* *sob* [/gwyneth paltrow] Now for that B license! Woo-hoo, outta my way folks internationally A-licensed man of mystery coming through!!
  23. Skyhawk makes a good point - what about us *bloody foreigners* who want T-shirts? Can't we have Mike's original idea as an alternative, Sangiro? You could mail us the design, then we could print it off and make iron-on transfers. I'm sure that the T-shirts will look great, but will probably cost quite a bit more than $20 after P&P to get to us. You see, yet again the rest of the world suffers while the evil American capitalists enjoy their fine T-shirts (made by 4 year olds in a sweat shop somewhere in the middle east). Actually, come to think of it YOU guys should give US disadvantaged foreigners (ie non-americans) FREE T-shirts! Mike, skyhawk, you guys with me on this one?
