You do know DEVGRU has access to and does use weapons in every known caliber right? He could have been hit by Ruger 22LR Pistol for all we know. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Until your PUD/Hackey gets caught in the webbing and you stand up . That is why we stress handle checks prior to exit and no unnecessary movement on the ride up, if you do move exercise care, be careful when sitting down, and most of all-watch out for your Buddies! ... in which case it is a plain old slide, not a PLF. What he is referring to is in a Properly Executed PLF. When done right, the jumper lays down (in sequence), the balls of feet, calf, outside of thigh, buttocks, and the "pull up muscle". He then kicks up and over, rotating along the back of the shoulders. This kicking it up and over will result in the feet now pointed, generally, in the direction of the fall. Actually, I do believe it was and a Senatorial findign/decree or some such thing was done to clear it up prior to his announcement of running. Matt Apparently, there was a non-binding resolution, and it would require a Supreme Court ruling, or a Constitional amendment to make it official: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/01/AR2008050103224.html The "Birthers" will still argue the "Natural Born", "Native Born" thing. Service Bulletins and Equipment Bannings
matthewcline replied to tetra316's topic in Gear and Rigging
If the manufacturer could ground their aircraft, they would not have bought them back, they would have grounded them. Aircraft fly every day, legally, with manufacturer's SB's not complied with. Derek V In reading this discussion (http://www.aerolegalservices.com/Articles/Service%20Bulletins%20Clarified.shtml) that is mostly true. But do we want it to be taken so far as to have a manual amended the manufacturer and/or an AC or AD posted by the FAA? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. Damn suspicious, what? Did you also notice that his mother dated her signature 8-7-61? Now, if she was using the british system of date notation (as the Kenyan Barack Sr would) that would mean she signed it 8th of July! Why would she do that? I'll tell you why, she must have signed it in advance before leaving for Kenya, then when Barack Jr was born in a mud hut somewhere on the Maasai Mara she cabled the hospital to fill out the rest of the form and file it away as the perfect cover! It's literally the only possible explanation (As an aside, can anyone even remember how this whole thing got started?) The CIA and MI6! http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig11/madsen1.1.1.html Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Looks a lot like my Birth Certificate, might even be the same hospital, I will have to check. But to answer your question, no it is not the end. "They" are challenging its validity (based on the copy's date) and also what is meant by "Natural Born" blah blah blah. If some one doesn't want him the Office past 2012, vote. Aside from cooky conspiracy theorists show one piece of proof about this. And then if you CAN find proof how does it relate to this? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I don't know the guy, or one thing about him factually, so I took his name out of the above quote. However, have a look at this document, which is in reference the appointing of a DPE (Designated Pilot Examiner), which is GAs version of an I/E, being that the DPE is the one who hands out ratings. Take note of items #2, 3, and 4 under 'General Characteristics', and see if skydiving should expect the same. http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgOrders.nsf/0/7f85cd99697aa59d86256f700076ed32/$FILE/87103D-C02.pdf If USPA had this type of a Pre-Req we would have fewer I/E's and I's. Maybe not a bad thing over all. Let's face it, we made it for years with a very small number of I/Es without a problem. The more I/Es you have, the more chances you have for standards to be 'altered', and for ratings to be granted to people who maybe shouldn't have them. We all know how tough it is to get the USPA to pull a rating, so maybe we should make it tougher to get a rating. With less I/E's and closer attention this may be changing. Remember we (I/E's) all have to attend the CURRENT I/E Course and PASS, by October of this year. You can't just hand out something you can't easily get back, which is where we're headed. It used to be the opposite, where it was more work to get the rating, but you knew you wouldn't lose it unless you blew it big time. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So your friend/FAA dude has a calibrated eyeball? "Scattered" can mean anything from clearer than broken to not exactly a "few" clouds. That's a damn big range, and way too vague to define a violation based on made-up forum scenarios. If the clouds are so tight that you can't reasonably say they meet minimums, they probably don't. Beyond that, the feds are going to have a tough time making a case unless you actually punch a cloud...probably. Did you bother to ask how many jumps he/she has made in "illegal" conditions? His point was unless you hit a cloud, he would not even consider "Violating" a skydiver if it was "Scattered" or better. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. I was taught and have done it with the same set up and count as a left side door. Only modification was lingo. Main side controls the student to the ramp hinge, turns the students left hip to the ramp as they crab the over head and move to the edge. Reserve Side, who has checked the spot and separation, is waiting near the left edge of the ramp (Video is in the right corner, if present). The trio is all set up at the ramp edge and the count begins. "Check right, Check Left, Front! Up! Down! Arch! The two Instructors stay hip to hip with the student and make their transitions just as mentioned before. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Well, as we were talking about Busting Clouds, "Busts", I think he understood. Even if some one is only 100' below he didn't "bust" the cloud, and yeah I know "he" is still wrong. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Is it a "Sham"? No, I do not think so. It can use some tweaks, but that is normal in a sport that is so "evolutionary" like ours. Coach standards have come up. But they are not expected to be 4-way medalists. Lets not confuse the types of Coaches out there. Staticline and IAD may not be the "In" thing in some areas, but they are still going strong. AFF is now easier to UNDERSTAND when it comes to the STANDARDS. The current system took away the "Ego's" we heard rumor of so much. Now, as to your actual agenda. Sure Jeff Fincher may not have been the best Candidate for an I/E rating in the PAST. Sure he was "Disciplined" (playing a semantics game here aren't you?) in the PAST. But maybe, as those are in the PAST he has learned a bit and is a better "Professional Skydiving Instructor" for it? So, lets give a bit of the benefit of the doubt to him and let him work a bit in the I/E field, maybe he will prove you wrong. Besides as an I/E he knows he is held to a higher standard and has three "Governing Bodies" watching him like all the rest of us. They are, for those who may be asking, the FAA, USPA and the Rig Manufacturer. They all have rules and standards, he met them and past the course, end of story. if any one of us I/E's makes a mistake any one of those three "Governing Bodies" can take action. Dunno, but the dude did say if the reading apparatus could not go through it, it was a cloud. Funny story, we had these beautiful clear skies out side one AM. So we got all the gear ready to head to the training DZ. WE go to call out PIC and ask if he wants us to have coffee at the DZ for him when he arrives. He says he is still in bed as the AWOS said over cast at less than 100'! I said; "It's clear blue Sir!" He never looked out the window just rolled over and went back to sleep, now he looks and says he will be there in an hour. We get to the field and see the problem, an awning fell and then blew up into the FBO's roof, covering said reading apparatus. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I am posting this here as it seems a "Training" item. We so often talk about cloud "busts" I asked an FAA Inspector and Skydiver how does one know if he is in danger of a violation with out some high tech laser widgetry? His answer came in a few parts and is paraphrased below: Over Cast- If you can get high enough to exit, get out 500' below it PERIOD. Broken, see over cast. FAA Defines Broken as 6/10 to 9+/10's cloud covered sky. You may get lucky and have the actual numbers to fall through a hole. But the recorded Forecast wont back you up if "violated". Scattered- wait for the bigger holes, if you think the hole is not big enough, it isn't. Few-stay away from them the blue is bigger. Clear-have fun. Best and cheapest place to do AFF in the USA?

OR We can just keep the Coaches, as Coaches and bring the JM's and I's back in, as it was before we had the BIC to Coach and dissolve the JM changes! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

The neat thing about the over sized toe loop of a "Poor Man" is if, for some odd reason, your flying the flag and have to chop the main but forget to release the lower part of the flag it tends to pull the over sized toe loop off and go away. Just make sure all is right then put the flag into play! It is a six or 1/2 of a Dozen type thing on if you want to attach one end first or the other. Just make sure it is upside right, before the crowd sees it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
