  1. Exiting the plane. Whether jumping, letting go, or pulling the eject - all are events that lead to time outside of the "safety" of the airplane, outside of the "Normal" convention of flight, outside of the box. "Skydivers" aren't "special" because they reach a certain number or rating. It's the mindset of doing something different, pushing the limits and risking to live life. (which to me, isn't "special". . . . rather just a normal way of looking at life - cuz I AM NORMAL!!)
  2. A lot of people comment on "Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle" and getting things from Jurassic Park. So I looked at it, and because Planck's constant is so small, it is worthless except with atomic-level particles and such. It IS the same river - just different in the fourth dimension. ummm.... just to make sure, when I mentioned Heraclitus (c. 540-480bc), I was referring to one of the three Milesain philosophers... not quoting about killing a butterfly and changing the outcome of WWII. Philosophically, Chemically, Dimensionally (movement of the river in the bed).... the river changes. It might still be called the "Mighty Mississippi". . . . but it is not the same river. (and not just temporally) Because you are still the same person as back then, just with different experiences leading to different adaptations. I hope to know you in 40 years. What I want to know is who I was 40 years ago.... I would LOVE the answer to that one!
  3. This goes back to Socrates. Even prior to good ole So-Crates was Heraclitus who mentioned that we "cannot step twice into the same river" as at the second time neither I nor the river is the same. I change. I have made some deep changes over the past four years (and not just added parts in my ankle and knee) If you had known me 10years ago... genetically the same person.... but likely not biochemically. How can you know me if I am in change? I actually was being all philosophical earlier today. Wondering about life and death... Thinking about love and genetics... pondering the deepness of my belly button... all important stuffs...
  4. Where ever you might be.... I hope that you are happy and enjoying the experience.
  5. You're a naughty naughty girl. I have never argued that point.
  6. THIN mints.... it even has the word THIN in it. It can't cause you to be fat!! It has the word THIN in it. (and they are YUMMY!!!)
  7. Parenting.... Now, I'll cut her slack with the mohawk. Even with a 6year old... I wouldn't do that if I had a child, but she just might be more tolerant and allowing regarding that. BUT. . . changing schools based on it! No. School choice should be based on academic considerations, not whether the parents can play well with the administrators.
  8. Neither do I. Being a gynecologist, tampons and pads are common and everyday things for me. BUT... last week, I accidently left a tampon (in the cute little wrapper) at the shop. My husband was QUITE embarrassed when he lifted some papers on his desk and *gasp* that evil thing was there ("Guys just don't want to see them")
  9. Oh come on, don't you know that pilots can do no wrong, nor the airline crew. I'm sure it was ALL under control. There was NO way it would have crashed.... in some peoples opinions.... which is as good as fact. Besides, if it would have crashed, then it would probably be just their time to die.
  10. Happy Birthday, Jef! I hope that your day is GREAT! I'm sure that you'll have LOTS of fun.
  11. I do not carry a purse. On occasion, I have been in a form fitting dress that doesn't have pockets. In those situations, I have had to ask my husband to carry my wallet. Most times he does it without too much complaint. I'm asking him now why he has reservations about carrying it and he claims it's . . . . well. . . . now he's mad at you, Mike for asking questions to get him in trouble.
  12. Dude, I'm done here. Once you get some medical knowledge and back away from the defensive attitude, we'll talk again. By that time the airline will likely have settled this case.
  13. Ok... I will say it again. Heart condition. Decreased partial pressure of oxygen. Heart works harder. IF the oxygen had been available, she could have had less cardiac injury. (which is why oxygen is one of the four meds used to treat heart attacks) Additionally, if the heart was strained, it is likely it went into VFib which is a convertable rhythm and IF the AED were functional it could have administered a shock. But... the two canisters of oxygen that were tried were reported to be empty and the AED was reported to be malfunctioning. I understand that you're trying to defend your fellow airline peoples, but I think you're blinding yourself to the logic that this could have been a preventable death. Just having the doctors there waving their hands won't help her. Thats why the airlines have emergency equipment. IF it is nonfucntioning, there is culpability. and by the way, when you state you are saying that I can't come to that my conclusion but you can come to yours.
  14. Isn't this: Heart problems + Low partial pressure of oxygen = Increase stress and work to heart -> increased heart rate -> increase stress to heart -> myocardial death. basic enough not to need a full essay?
  15. So.... why are you entitled to your opinion, but I'm not entitled to mine? (and I do believe that I explained my rationale in a logical and MEDICAL fashion.)
  16. Some are making that assumption. But even if she wasn't, it would still be an indicated treatment for a heart attack.
  17. Hmmmm. OK. Did you read my post above? Where are you getting the "diabetic attack"? Are you inferring hypoglycemic attack or hyperglycemic? DKA (which would only be for type 1 diabetics) or Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic Nonketotic Coma (which is more likely for type 2 diabetics)? Her symptoms really don't match. Honestly. This was likely CARDIAC and triggered by the change in partial pressure of the oxygen in the cabin with the pressurization. If she had gotten oxygen, it might have improved her cardiac stress. After she had the MI, if she had gotten the defib, it likely would have converted her back. Yes, we all die... but this was probably a preventable death.
  18. Oh... I think I'm qualified to answer that one. Shall we start with genetics lessons, or embryology or anatomy?
  19. You snot. Couldn't let it go, could you? even after I recanted (a touch) that your post might have been a viewed as a joke Make you a good sammich?! Hell no. I decided early on that I would make enough money to not have to do kitchen work. My skills in the bj category are strictly confidential. (and again... you're not man enough to know) Barefoot? Can't with this stupid boot thing for my ankle Pregnant? Nope. Guess I don't need your respect. (and .... so I don't get smacked on the back of the hand.... tongue is firmly in cheek)
  20. Are you trying to throw this to SC?!
  21. Nope. Nor does it matter if you drive around lost for hours cuz you won't stop and ask for directions.
