I had a sprial ct a few years back looking for a pulmonary embolus (luckily it wasn't there - just endocarditis) But when I got the IV contrast... the warmth wasn't in my rectal area, but it DEFINITELY got my attentinon! I hope that the results turned out well for you.

From this description, I still have no idea how you crashed.... clarification? Did you cross over oncoming traffic? There was probably a sign that said, "Fine for passing on the shoulder". Just kidding. Gail sorry to hear you're banged up. OK.... chastising aside. THAT was funny!!! (sorry Gail, I had to laugh)

Hey.... This wasn't an incidents thread. "Let not bicker and argue over who killed who." Especially since no one killed anyone, but regardless of fault - Poor lil Gail is all bumped up. HUGS peoples.... and nice GENTLE ones.

Consider talking to your dad about medical missions.
-
1. Sorry that you feel sick. 2. Drink warm fluids and gargle salt water. 3. Don't talk or overuse your voice (guess you can't do that and still do dispatch. 4. Consider urgent care or acute care clinic depending on your insurance.

Hey all. How about giving a supportive hug to Gail. She crunched herself up in another car accident this week. No major injuries.... just a REALLY PAINFUL clavicle fracture. {{{HUGS}}}}

I don't even want to talk about it..... But the money does come back to me in the form of all of my medicaid patients.

Wow, I like the way you think. Not that I've done that....

That's why you wear one of those cute little aprons... nothing else. Just the apron.

If these are good kids, I would hate to see their basis for comparison to "problem kids". Why don't we spank kids any more?? Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me. And you will likely hear defense of these children - "they didn't mean it." (or they promise to have the safety on) Our society, as a whole, is accepting of too many excuses, tolerating a lack of personal responsibility, raising a generation of those that use and abuse others without consequence. My nephew is a good example - he has SPAT in my sisters face. . . and it was allowed. When I was raising my stepson, I was the "evil stepmother." But it wasn't my job to be his friend. I had rules and expectations. And rule one was to respect his Father and I (his mother thought it was "cute" when he would call his dad a "scumbag" - which he absolutely is NOT) "We have good kids."

Why Pilots Should Not be Allowed Firearms on Planes

You have every right to defend those that you feel deserve such. As do I. I initially didn't lash out at labrys or attack him in any way for his methodology of "testing" his argument. I thought about and waited to see the responses. Which allowed the discussion to continue for about 30 more posts. It honestly wasn't until my post in #83 that I tried to state "you shouldn't be saying that" and then get the thread back on topic. Then all the justifications, excuses and attacks became directed at me. (for which I will not stand) My whole argument on this is that you shouldn't joke about holding a loaded gun to someones head and pull the trigger... even if you "promise" to have the safety on. As this is the internet, I don't know labrys and I can not say with certainity that he would or wouldn't do something. Is it a threat or not.... generally depends on the person making that statement. Since I don't have that information... I can't guage the level of threat. You can have you opinion and defend people joking about all kinds of things. I would rather state, "nope... that's not acceptable to joke about" even if you "don't mean it." We all have limits on what is acceptable and not, even this site has limits on what can be joked about.... I just think that discussing holding a firearm to someones head and pulling the trigger is over the line. -
My grandpa's cows were happy. Or at least I think they were happy. They moo'ed a lot and had scratchy tongues .... That means that they are happy, right?

It's ok to be discussing the holster and securing device. It's ok to be discussing whether the pilots should or shouldn't be allowed the firearms. It was even ok to be discussing the safety mechanism. I just don't trust someone over the internet making comments about holding guns to someones head. And... no I do not consider myself to be on a "high horse." I have my standards. If they are different from yours, I'm not changing them just to make you happy. -

Warped gave a guarantee. But a guarantee he wouldn't trust with his hypothetical "life". Therefore, warped's statement was a bullshit statement. He said one thing, but meant another. Bullshit. Word's can certainly become deeds. I perceived no direct threat to be made, so I'm not being cavalier with "statements like that". .jim Are you confusing me and warped? Here's a hint. I'm a girl, he's a boy. Above you quote him in a response to me and comment to me as if I made it. You aslo tell me that I got busted on a bullshit statement. My whole point on this hijack has been that somethings should NOT be threatened (or if you will "hypothesized"). Comments regarding guns to peoples heads should not be accepted. It's not a joking matter and it's not funny. Further, I don't believe that the defense of such comments is appropriate. But if you have convinced your self that it's ok, then that's your opinion. -
To understand this situation a bit better, look at it from the perspective of the intern/resident. Interns are the absolute workers. They are the "scut monkeys." Almost to the point of indentured servants (they had to enact a federal law limiting the work hours to only eighty hours a week and 30hr days.... unfortunately it was after I did my intern year) Interns do all the charting, the dictation, the charting, the answering of random pages from the nurses, the charting, tracking down labs, the charting, following up on pathology, the charting, researching that weird zebra disease the child has, have I mentioned charting. As a senior resident... you supervise. So, wildcard was willing to "demote" himself to doing the interns. But.... was he doing it for the sake of the Intern (you have to admire those that go back to medical school after a full prior career... but do you cut them slack? would he have cut a 20something year old that same slack?) or for the sake of the patients (the intern could have worn a mask and should ALWAYS be washing his hands) or for his sake (sick interns are very needy and he wouldn't have gotten any sleep anyway) At anyrate... the right answer was to send him home. In my opinion.

How so? What bullshit statement? What legitimate response? As you said, you perceived his comment as hypothetical. I did not... or at least I am respectful and cautious about comments like that. If you wish to be cavalier with comments like that... feel free. But as I said. Words can become deeds. Maybe you know labrys. I don't. He might be well trained. He might be respectable. But... this is the internet. I have no idea who he really is... and to type comments about taking a gun to someones head and pulling the trigger. Regardless of his "promise" to have the safety on. I consider that to be iffy. And I still don't see how I'm "busted" on a bullshit statement. -

Well, now that this thread is completely hijacked. Look again at post 53 Doesn't sound like a "what if" or "hypothetical" comment in that post. "I have a handgun right here. How would you feel....?" And then when the response to that "How would you feel?" was a VERY NEGATIVE response to an inappropriate comment then suddenly there's backpedaling and justification. Crying out: He didn't MEAN it. "just ridiculous. It was OBVIOUSLY a rhetorical device" And who am I to argue against such wise counsel... besides, he "promised" to have the safety on. edit - Defend all you want. It won't make it right. -

What was said by labrys was, in my opinion, inappropriate and NOT acceptable. The argument that followed became a drawn out pissing contest about less than relevant matters. But the initial statement about pointing a gun at someones head and pulling the trigger is NOT legitimate and should NOT be tolerated as valid by any respectable opinion - regardless of the prior statements. And it could even be viewed as a personal threat. -Not going to take the bait on the personal direction of your flawed logic comment. Illogical. A gun with a guaranteed reliable safety (as claimed by warped) engaged is no more dangerous than a stick. I think you completely miss the point, which is that 100% reliable safeties do not exist. As for being a threat, that's just ridiculous. It was OBVIOUSLY a rhetorical device intended to emphasize the absurdity of warped's "guarantee". You are entitled to your opinion. Respect my right to have mine. edit to add: Knowing something in theory does not guarantee the reality. One should NEVER point a loaded gun and pull the trigger at a target that you do not intend to hit - whether the safety is engaged or NOT. If someone, even "jokingly", mentioned that they were going to put a loaded gun to my head... I would be very guarded about that statement. Words can become deeds. You can consider it "ridiculous." But... I would still be cautious. Some things should not be joked about -

I don't disagree with that either - the salient point is, to me, that those of us who *do* have the knowledge and training know that *that* type of mechanical failure is vanishingly small. I have to side with Mike, Rush and Warped on this little battle. It is very alarming and quite disturbing that someone who claims to have experience with firearms is stating that to "prove" his point that he offered to point his gun at someones head and pull the trigger. Arguments about mechanical issues aside - THAT is NOT an acceptable test. NEVER. And "joking" about it isn't funny. Now. Enough of this pissing contest. Back on topic - WATCH THE VIDEO in post 48. If that truly is the holster used... it can cause an ACCIDENTAL discharge. -
Are you insinuating that they gave Skymama herpes?!

That is the most ignorantly designed holster that I have ever seen! Should the one locking it have been more careful, of course, but when you have something that is dangerously designed, it makes it more challenging... NOT more safe. I have to agree with the guy in that video ... it's lucky that he didn't injure himself!!
