OK, that is a point I hadn't considered. Does it put the onus upon the Federal government or the carrier? It certainly looks to me like American is going to eat this one. oops... see my edit. I added comments that kind of agree with your "American is going to eat this one."

I don't know the legal aspect of this, but I would guess that it likely falls under one of the disability acts. Edit to add: Here is some info. Passengers with Disabilities But... it's not exactly GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITY. Rather government regulations that mandate the airlines. So... I think it would implicate the airline

It's not that high but the effect could still have been the same. A change in altitude and pressure might have been the right recipe for her heart failure. I am not a Doc so who knows. My opinion is if her medical condition was that bad she should not be flying anyway. Thats just me. You might be right... as you work in that field. But this is how I got that level of pressurization. Per, "Directly measured cabin pressure conditions during Boeing 747-400 commercial aircraft flights" Authors: KELLY, PaulT.; SECCOMBE, LeighM.; ROGERS, PeterG.; PETERS, MatthewJ. Respirology, Volume 12, Number 4, July 2007 , pp. 511-515(5). source And using this units conversion is where I've always thought it was pressurized between that range.

That actually makes the case a little stronger for the family of the deceased. One of the medications to respond to an acute myocardial infarction is Oxygen (oxygen, morphine, nitro, aspirin) It's hard to say if she had gotten proper management whether she would have lived or not. The hypoxia on board probably led to heart strain as they generally pressurize the cabins to 7,000 to 10,000 feet. If the partial pressure of the oxygen at that level was inadequate to meet the needs of her heart, then the heart would have started beating faster and she would have developed the chest pain and difficulty breathing. IF she would have gotten supplimental oxygen in time... she might not have lost as many heart cells.... Then there's the issue of the defib. If there was a NON functioning defib on board.... The airlines would be best to just settle this one quietly as this could have been a preventable death.

Hey, if they're good at inspiring the crowd and providing entertainment, why the hell not? Isn't that what the scantily clad cheerleaders do? It's just that this wouldn't have the sexual fantasy associated with it.... or are some just scared that it might?

What kind of gentleman posts about the stupid women who fall for his lies as well as how often and easily he is able to get laid? Yep, oozing with respect for women, he is. I think, again, it was an attempt at humor.... but some things just aren't as humorous to all.

and with proper medical terminology?!

OK, big strong man. Yes, I vote. Yes, I want equal pay for my time. Yes, I've given almost 5 years to Uncle Sam. If you don't want to hold my door. Don't. If you don't want to pay for my dinner. Fine. Honestly doesn't break my heart. But don't whine when women look at you with a complete lack of appreciation or respect. And as far as shooting them.... I've got bullet fragments in my arm. You just have to be MAN enough to be able to shoot me and get away with it. So.... you think you are?

Does this clip make you want to become a vegetarian?
kbordson replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in Speakers Corner
That attitude is so incredibly ugly. One of my dear friends got bladder cancer. It metastized to his bones. The pain was horrid and crippling. He wasn't even 55 years old. A nurse. A vegetarian. His cancer was very likely linked to the chemicals that he ate.... in his tofu and other "meat flavored" products. I would NEVER wish cancer on anyone. Especially for something as superficial as whether they eat meat or not. -
I'm thinking it was her living situation/environment.

One of the most disturbing ER patients that I had was an 7-8year old girl. Came in at 2-3am with her father because she got a cockroach stuck in her ear AGAIN. Saddest part... she was the most calm and relaxed thing about it all... as if "sigh... got another one in there...." I got heeby geebies just trying to get it out for her...

Interesting articles. Thanks for posting those. So... being "not unhappy" might be better than being "happy". . . . hmmmm. I don't know that I'm willing to go that far yet. The problem is that the "not unhappy" types are more exhausting to be around..... (on that note.... I'm placing Moldova on my places NOT to visit list)
-
Been considering this question again.... Different people do have different levels of "happy". . . in fact it has been stated to me that "not unhappy" is the same to some as "happy" is to others (which I have a hard time agreeing with) Why are some people "happy" and others not so much? Genetics? Chemical? Trauma/loss? Can a "not unhappy" person become "happy"? Is it truly a matter of changing the way you think? Can someone else make that person "happy"? What does make people "happy"? Money? Adventure? Comfort? Self goals? Others opinions? Are YOU happy?

Spirit of Kansas, aircraft number 89-0127, built in 1989. Poor bird was almost 20 years old. She had been at Whiteman since 1995.

Yes, it was. But luckily, nuttin happened. (which is especially good as I was the only one in the pool at all... so if I did something too stupid, it would have been not so good)

Went to the pool today (7w after the fracture and 1st surgery; 5w after the second surgery) and was AMAZED at how WONDERFUL it felt to be "swimming" (I didn't actually swim - I kicked laps and tread water) My ortho cleared me for the water but never mentioned how great it would feel and what a range of motion you could really get in that environment. Anybody else take to the water after pounding the dirt?
-
I would avoid those carpool lanes. I've heard people go missing.... I suspect macra

I wonder which plane it was. Some of these Whiteman birds have been in service since '93. (I know 15yrs is still young, but I honestly can't remember any other B2's crashing) Glad the flyboys are ok.

You can decide with whom you are compatible. You can decide with whom you want to spend your life with.... But LOVE is more than companionship and caring. And I don't think it would be an "animalistic" trait to have. But then again, I don't know if wolves love their mates or if bunnies do..... or if it's just sex. But I think love is not something you choose.... it includes more than physical or personal characteristics, it's deeper than just lust or passion. . . . it's something that whether you want to feel it or not.... your heart decides.

But sometimes the life you want to live is not an option. I used to think that I had all the control and power over my life. Then in the blink of an eye, I learned that life is sometimes beyond my control. So I would agree with you to a point.... cuz sometimes no matter how much you want a life.... it's not possible. And no... you don't pick who you fall in love with.
