The military gives out nice paychecks!? Quote well with my new promotion I can't complain too much, and my tax free status helps too History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

One never knows where these threads will lead. Four people from my DZ ended up at a 4-way camp in Arizona, and Parachutist is considering doing an article on the subject... all because of this thread! Quote whats the teams name so we can keep an eye out for the article. I'm actually in the process of moving closer to a DZ, getting out of the military after 8 years, and giving up that nice paycheck to pursue 4 way. Isn't it awesome how addicting this is

Skydiver suing jump outfit - News story

Anyone know what the TM was unable to throw the drogue for the main? Just curious. ThanksQuote I'm curious about this one too, does anyone know if there has been a thread started about this one in the incidents forum, I'd like to read more on it. thanks History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. By the way, Airspeed is focusing only on 4-way this year.Quote I'm sure we'll see a gathering of AS alumni doing an 8 way team though IIRC they won nationals a few years back in a similar situation. And the Knights usually pull together a group of their former 8 way competitors and have a strong showing as well. How is the Perris team doing this year, I'm anxious to see what kind of scores they put up. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I'm starting it right here on DZ.com, it's a foundation whose sole purpose is helping me get my hands on everything I need to make margaritas to celebrate a birthday for the young lady I've been chillin with here on the base. She's been an awesome friend and is helping me keep my sanity, she said she wants margaritas more than anything for her bday, so it's the least I can do for her. Anybody interested in making a donation PM me, and the first round is on me when I get home Just a note, the tequilla isn't the issue, that part is taken care of, so you don't need to send any alcohol and get yourself in trouble, I just need everything that goes with it. To include those cheap tacky plastic margarita glasses witht he blinking lights and umbrellas to go in them I can also get to western union online so don't worry about the cost, i'll cover that for ya luv ya guys

Anytime you're at a DZ where you don't know too many people there don't be afraid to just walk up and introduce yourself to a few people. I rarely if ever find people at a DZ that aren't willing to at least say hi and point me in the direction of someone to jump with. Sorry to hear you haven't been having a great experience recently, hopefully it turns around for you soon. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Document: Iran Caught Red-Handed Shipping Arms to Taliban

I got out..used every last cent of my GI BILL and figured out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Doing pretty well since then. I suspect you will as well.Quote I've got a little bit of a plan drawn up for myself, it's just going to be a rough first couple of years after I get out. My teamamtes and I were just talking about it today though, we've got some new guys on the team and they've never even gotten to experience the "good life" that the military has to offer. I've had tons of great experiences in the military with the exception of this trip, and unfortunately the newer guys don't know any different, they think that another 16-17 years in the military is just going to be more of the same. Steering back towards the topic a little though, if we do turn East and start moving I have a feeling the military is going to have a real tough time making it's recruiting goals over the next couple years. Nothing good will come out of us rolling into Iran. I don't even see how it could be supported logistically. Unless AAFES can preemptively move into Iran and set up a PX, internet cafe and a Pizza Hut trailor before we invade the troops would never survive History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Right now it is August 15th. Everything is going great and they are going as fast as they can. It is going to be an incredible machine. Quote Looking at the pics on the website it's one hell of a task those construction workers have undertaken, that thing truly is a monster, it's definitely understandable that it had to be back up a bit. it will require a quick team AND a good judge to see thoughQuote I've actually done the exact same thing the first time I ever did a 2. We built a right hand donut and I took a left hand grip(I BS'ed my way out of it by calling it a 3 way pretzel). I switched my grip halfway through the inter, but at that point we had already begun the inter with the incorrect grip so as I see it the closing formation would still be an infringement due to an incorrect inter wouldn't it? This was a fun jump and not judged so we never really got into the scoring aspect of it. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

thanx for everythign guys, and we all do know that just because people don't support the war it has nothing to do with their support of the troops. it's the situation here that has made everyone lose hope. and it continues to get worse everyday. we are no longer serving a purpose here except to soak up bullets. it's bad when so many of the people i know who wanted to make a career out of the military, myself included are counting down the days til we get out. and most of us don't even have anywhere to go when we get out, we just know we don't ant to be here anymore. I hope the American public refuses to buy into the same weak sales pitch again. Quote I second that, there is no doubt that Iran to some extent is supplying anti-US fighters in Iraq, I personally have no experience in Afghanistan so I can't say for sure either way, but some of the charges being used over here would be impossible for some piddly IED maker to put together in his house. This is going to happen regardless, there is always going to be countries that do not want to get directly engaged in a conflict with another country so they support those who have the same enemy. I just hope this isn't used as a reason to tell all the troops in Iraq to do a right face and start marchin til we run into our buddies in the Afghan mountains. I'm halfway through my third trip over here and I have yet to run into a soldier this trip who still supports "the cause". My last two trips even when it was apparent that our reasons for being here were bullshit the majority of us here still believed that the soldiers on the ground were contributing to something good. The administration made a mess and we were here fighting to clean it up and help people. Now, not so much, when every IED you get hit by is within 500 meters of an Iraqi army checkpoint and almost all the people you kill are the ones that were working with you just a few hours before they went home and switched uniforms its time to leave. I hope that the people back home won't let the administration send us into another no-win scenario. Even if you don't give a shit about whether or not going into Iran is what is best for the US at least care enough to not let us get sent into a fight that would be far worse than what was mounted against us when we came here. 3000 folded flags is enough, we don't need anymore, and I'm personally too close to getting out to get killed in some other god-forsaken place. No point in it, Dan. When someone comes home and talks about the good they did and the things they saw, they are obviously PR plants from Halliburton.Quote You're absolutely correct, this is the way anyone who comes home saying positive things is treated. Spend long enough time around these here forums and you may notice how many times I've been regarded to as brainwhased or a tool of the system because at one point I believed in what I was doing over here. May not believe the original reason for being here but I felt that I was accomplishing good things. Now........not so much, I'm ready to come home take care bro History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

well i cannot tell you much about the ground without violating laws.... at least until i return... you never know who's watchin.... like this kallend guy... his picture looks like someone recently detained..... and gewain i can tell you that i have not seen much press but i hear of them operating over the radio and such and it turns out the president has even stated on my battalions influence here in our ao... now i cannot say much more.... i feel i am already walking a fine line.... for further questions pm me... and be ready for me to ask for some credibility on your identity.... even though i don't think there are many skydiving terrorists.... i cannot risk somethings because the situation here is still volatile maybe even more now than ever.... Quote It's all in how you word it and what specifics you give out, you can tell quite a bit about the general atmosphere of your area without giving out sensitive information or your location. However, I don't know what unit your in so I would recommend inquiring about whether or not your unit has any policies concerning posting on public forums about the war.
