It's more of a timing thing from what I understand, the 2 top teams in the US just returned from Russia for the Malevsky meet and are travelling to NC next week to compete again. this close to nationals competing at the WC would only wear the team out when they will most likely be in their final training camp for nats. "I brought terror to people under the American Flag"
GQ_jumper replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
We're fighting an enemy who's stated policy and actions target civilians extensively.Quote A quick look into the mindset of the enemy that will help validate your point a bit. Last month I went to one of the local Iraqi Police stations, they claimed they had captured one of the individuals responsible for helping bomb another station in town. When the other station was attacked it was done via VBIED(vehicle borne IED), the car was parked next to the sation packed with explosives, left, and detonated. It did some damage, nothing major to the station due to the fact that the station was surrounded by Hesco barriers and the vehicle couldn't get close. Well right next to the IP station was an all girls elementary school. The explosion tore the school open and killed quite a few girls, all under the age of 10. When we questioned the individual he admitted to helping the people who planted the bomb, he had allowed them to stay at his house the night before with the vehicle, his neighboors reported him after they heard what kind of vehicle blew up. We asked him why he helped, he said it was because he wanted to help them kill Americans. We made sure he understood that his attack did little to the Americans there and killed a bunch of little girls. His reply was along the lines of, as long as the explosion hurt a couple of Americans he didn't care what happened to the little girls, it was worth it. So the eney that everyone seems to have so much sympathy for gives a fuck less what happens to innocents, as long as a few of us are killed in the process. What a bunch of heros and if anyone is wondering what happened to the asshole, later that week he was transferred to a different station, he is now being held at the same IP station that he helped bomb. Just so ya know I started learning to swoop on a pilot 210(wl1.1:1), I never did anything more than a 90 on it, but i still got that canopy to do some amazing things at that size and loading. I, believe it or not broke the 100 foot mark once or twice with that set up. I love the Pilot, great canopy, and if you're just startng out it's there to bail you out when you make those little oopsies that are bound to happen in the beginning. Specialist Philip Chrystal, 23, of Reno, 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade. In Kirkuk and Hawija on 11-month tour beginning November 2004 A two year old took a round to the leg, a leg that small and it was still attached. And the two year old, just sat their and looked at this soldier? Yeah ok. I'm not saying that there aren't bad apples who have done bad things in Iraq and Afghanistan, but these stories in particular seem pretty fuckin fake. I wouldn't be surprised if you looked up the past deployment schedule for the units listed and it didn't even match up with the dates of these incidents. For 20K wingsuit jumps you should not need 100% O2 systems. World Team jumps regularly from 26,000 feet with no bailout O2 at all. Wingsuits take longer to descend - but even so, you shouldn't need anything more than supplemental bailout O2Quote Bill, I agree with you 100% that it can be done without O2 for the trip down, but personally I'd always reccomend someone having too much than not enough. There's always the chance that someoen is out of shape, or just panics a bit. With the military its 30 minutes of pre-breathing for 18k and an extra minute for every extra 1k feet. It can easily be seen as a bit excessive but at the same time, who knows safety better than the military? I'd say too much is never enough, but that's just the JM in me talkin History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Well I didn't get any last night, but tonight was a different story. I somehow found myself in a guard tower on the base with an Air Force girl named Ferrari who coincidently was wearing nothing more than my cowboy hat, braided pig tails, and a smile. I was also invited back for a second time tomrrow evening and have been asked to bring a video camera with me. So does that count??!!?? Even though I'm in Iraq and not in the states? You see Dan comes accross as the non threatening male to the chicks. They get comfortable around him and then Dan and the girls start to share underwear secrets and eventually he makes his move for the tits. It is a brilliant tactic if you have the patience to pull it off. Quote Dude, don't tell everyone, now I have to come up with a whole new trick, god you're such a dick Lucky for me there's no other dz.commers on my base so it'll still work til I get home. You know what, I thought that for a second as well, but afterwards I saw the ref made the right call. Marquardt was down for a decent amount of time fter the fight was stopped, and if you see, about four punches before it was called silva caught him with one tat slid right between Marquardt's hands and caught him on the button. Silva has an amazing way of sliding his fists straight through is opponents defense. A lot of times when people are knocked out clean they stiffen up, which would explain his hands still looking like they are protecting his face, look back at Rich Franklin's fight prior to losing to Silva, he hit that guy(can't remember who exactly) so clean he locked up and fell down like a stiff board. Herring let him get away at the end of the first after landing the kick to the head. Quote Herring let his opponent get inside his head, he was reluctant to get tied up for fear of being submitted so he backed off too soon. Thanks for the info. I didnt see the fight yet. but I figured YOu would be the one with the good review.Quote Yeah I have a pretty addictive personality, have you seen my commentary on the Malevsky meet in the RW forum, I went a little overboard One more note on the Tito fight, I have to take another shot at Rashad, towards the end of the first round Tito got cut under his eye, looking at the replay in slo mo Rashad grazed him but caught him with his thumbnail. Well his thmb was sticking out a lot more than it should've been while making a fist, I think he may very well have done it intentionally. Not to mention Tito showed far more class in the immedeate interview after the fight, and to top it off he's coming to Iraq!!! Maybe I'll get to catch him this time around History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Well I picked pretty good on this one, with the exception of the Florian I had em all, and Florian, I didn't really know his opponent, I'm just not a fan of his, and despite the fact that he won, he still doesn't look like he has the skill to beat Sherk if he gets a rematch. The Tito fight, Rashad did a good job, he only pulled out the draw because Tito lost a point for grabbing the fence. Looking at the fight though Rashad needs a lot more discipline if he's going to continue to move up the ranks. Yeah his take down defense was good, and he never gave Tito a good opportunity to work the ground and pound, but he did a horrble job of controlling the fight and all his strikes were wild and he didn't work combos or use his strikes to set anything up. Tito' downfall on his feet isn't skill, it's confidence, his strikes, when he threw them were clean, technical and straight down the pipe, no wild haymakers. A few controlled overhand rights but they were intentional, not flailers, his biggest problem is he isn't confident enough that he can finish on his feet. He has the skill, he just needs a good knockout win under his belt to prove to himself that his standup is good enough to engage, if he can do that his take downs will be even better because he can close and setup the shoot from a tighter spot. Overall it was a good fight, I was on the edge of my seat and completely agreed with the decision. The first fight with Herring and Noguera(sp), Herring could've ended it in the first but he was so afraid to get wrapped up with such a good grappler that he stood up and backed away from an iminent TKO victory and allowed his opponent to recover and dominate the rest of the fight. I picked Noguera to win on that one. Sherk v Franca was an AWESOME fight!! Some of the best technical ground work I've ever seen, Franca didn't make a single mistake the entire fight, Sherk was just in a different place, as are most champions in their prime. Hermes should be happy with the ground work he had, he just couldn't deal with Sherk's power, he had the perfect counter to Sherk's takedowns, almost everytime Sherk would shoot Hermes caught him with a knee to the face, Sherk was just so tough the knees didn't do enough, anyone else would've gone down from that. Silva and Marquardt was a good one as well. Silva isn't one to push the pace, he is known as a counter striker, he holds his ground and waits for his opponent to attack, finds that weakness in his opponents attack and exploits it. Even when Silva was on his ack he was ever in any danger, he ended it clean. Overall I'd say this was the best UFC I've ever seen, and now I get to look forward to Randy's title defense next month, that's gonna be an awesome fight.
