  1. Then again I was surprised at Chucks loss to Jardine. I thought it would be a brawl but chuck seemed to forget that he needed that win. It may be time for him to learn some ground skills. This new breed won't Lay still for him. Quote Problem with the Jardine Chuck fight was that Jardine's awkward stance and fighting style just married up with Chuck's perectly. Remember how Jardine was keeping his left shoulder low and hunching over, well Chucks big overhand right(which causes 90% of his KO's) was slipping right off Jardine's head because of that stance. He was playin for keeps in the first round but by the second he was getting frustrated because his punches weren't being as effective as he wanted. Blame his trainer for not chaning up his game plan between rounds. As for his ground skills, Chuck was a well classed division 1 wrestler in college, wrestling is part of his daily routine(which is why he can scramble so well) and in terms of submissions he probably has the skills of a solid purple belt or even better(for comparison GSP is a purple belt). He just doesn't like it down there, unlike me, I love the ground, I don't get punched as much down there and I'm a big baby that doesn't like getting punched!!! In Randy's case though, I doubt he'll come back, he tappd out at the right time and did it for a good reason, he fights to prove he's the best and picking on the new up and coming fighters doesn't do that, it makes him a bully, so when Fedor backed out he had nothing left to prove. I miss him already History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  2. Fedor may not want to come to the UFC because of Pride's record so far. I thought the merger would bring talent, but it has not worked out that way so far. Randy is a real class act. I am sure he will be training some future champs. Quote Or Fedor could very well be playing the Frank Shamrockesque smoke and mirrors game of intentionally seeking out lesser talent to pick on to give the impression he is unstoppable. It's hard to say, but if he was half the warrior Randy is he would be kicking down Dana White's door to get in the octagon with Randy. As for training future champs, well Forrest is a product of Randy's camp, so is Karo Parysian, not to mention Wanderlei has recently started training with Randy as well. there are some great fighters working their way up the ladder but I'm really going to miss the way Randy fought, his name is synonymous with MMA. 3. So what happens with the belt? Nope, he said he won't even be broadcasting with the UFC, he has actually been doing that for th last couple years to improve his on-camera appearance to help with his acting. He is filming a movie right now. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  4. I just got word that Randy has hung up his gloves for good this time. After defeating Gonzaga a few months ago he told the UFC that if he didn't get a fight with Fedor he would retire because he felt that Fedor was the only heavyweight in the world who coud really challenge him, and if he wasn't fighting someone who stood a real chance of beating him he would just be fighting for the money, and thats not why he wanted to fight. This happened after Fedor announced that he was signing with another production(M-1 fights in Russia). Here's the article http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=ki-couture101107&prov=yhoo&type=lgns He couldn't have picked a better time to go out though, he's a 2-time light heavyweight and 3-time heavyweight champion and he's beaten MMA's A-list into submission for years and the whole time he's always been one of the most polite, respectful and classy competitors out there, and the fact that he came back at the age of 43 to beat Sylvia is nothing short of amazing. It just sucks to see him go, he's one of my heros, I wanted to cry when I read the article And not to knock Fedor too bad but, WTF!!!! If h really thinks he is the best heavyweight in the world than he would have signed with the UFC. If you want to be a legend you have to fight a legend and right now in that weight class Randy is about the only man standing who can claim that title. I see it as Fedor playin a smoke and mirrors game to make himself look like the best, but fighting in M-1 where there are no top rated heavyweights means he's not the real thing. 7. I have no reason to believe that. However, when you use the power of arrest to detain and restrain an out of control person, then you have assumed, to a large degree, responsibility for their safety. I agree with you completely that once someone is placed under arrest the arresting agency has a responsibility to protect them, but if you have to assign someone to do nothing other than watch your detainee you have effectively reduced the number of people available to respond to another situation. Unless someone has directly expressed an interest in wanting to cause harm to his/herself than checking up on them at regular intervals is perfectly acceptable IMO. This woman caused a problem was restrained as a result of her own actions and from what the evidence is pointing to made her own situation worse which ended up costing her own life. She made the concious decision to cause a problem and continued to make it even worse after the fact. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 8. Does anyone in this thread truly believe that the cops strangled this woman, there are so many pathetic theories about how the cops, and coroner have some little arrangement so the cops can get away with murder, its sad. People die, idiots die early, this woman was an idiot. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  9. Also, in Oregon (and you'll love this one) she can remarry, divorce him/them and come back at any past husband for alimony. At least the courts put a stop to THAT problem for me. Quote So what you're saying is that if I lived in Oregon I could go after my ex-wife for half of what Hustler paid her since I bought the boobs that got her in there in the first place even though she is since divorced again, damn I knew I lived in the wrong state History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 10. What difference do you think Iraqis see when they look at armed Americans in Iraq? Do they make the distinction between the Military and the contractors or do you think they see members of the occupying force? Quote The majority of Iraqis are smart enough to differentiate between soldiers and contractors. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  11. So how long before you have a cleaning detail to take it off the wall, disassemble it, clean it, rreassemble it and put it back up on the wall? Do you have the rank to be incharge of that detail? QuoteI have enough rank that I'm not in charge of details anymore, I'm in charge of the people that are in charge of assigning someone to be in charge of the detail. I don't bother myself with menial tasks such as this, it's for the little people My time is better spent trying to figure out what unit that hot Air Force girl I saw the other day is with History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 12. Was it the opposition who failed to plan for a hostile insurgency, or was it Bush's own staff who pushed the rhetoric that we'd be met with flowers? Quote And who in the opposition was screaming about having to prepare for an insurgency before it happened, it seems that all the politicians who didn't really want to go just went along with the "cool crowd" and then when things went awry started screaming "I told you this was a bad idea from the beginning, I knew all along that this would happen". Both sides should be ashamed of themselves for the mess we are in. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  13. If you're in another country - your action cannot be defensive. Your being there is as the result of an offensive, not a defensive action. Quote Being tasked with defending the lives of Iraqis VIPs is an offensive action? All the incidents where they fired first is why they are under scrutiny, it goes to show their task in Iraq was to defend the lives of select people, by providing them with a PSD, not to go out, find insurgents, and engage them. 14. I don't think it is a reasonable comparison. The war in Vietnam lasted at least three times longer, spanned the administrations of several war Presidents, and still got them nowhere. History repeats it self maybe? Well as far as getting nowhere is concerned, I agree with Tonto. Can choppers land on the roof of the embassy building in Baghdad ? I will agree to some extent that we aren't where we hoped to be at this time, but we are far from having made no progress whatsoever. Do people honestly think that this tribal/ethnic fighting was non-existent under SH? It's bee around for quite a long time, SH only intervened when it either affected his tribe(the Al-tikriti tribe) or it was directed against his regime. People just didn't know about it because this place was crawling with media. Despite what the media is pumping out there has been a huge change in the way this country is headed over the last few years, yes we have had some setbacks but as a whole this country is moving in the right direction. I'm sorry if it hurts everyone's feelings to hear the US soldiers are dying over here, while others seem not so much hurt by the news but still like to use it as an argument to validate their position that this is a hopeless mess, but last time I checked our job as servicemembers of the US military is to make sacrifices to try and help those who cannot help themselves. If we aren't here to act as a buffer while steps are taken to rectify the situation then everyone will just be bitching about how even more civilians are getting killed. We're the ones over here getting shot at and as crappy as this place is we are taking it in stride while everyone back home does 10x the complaining we do. Things are changing for the better, trust me, I've seen it with my own eyes over the course of 3 tours here since this little adventure kicked off. 15. You bring up a really good point Wendy, the only person I have to worry about keeping happy is my dog!! And she eats whatever falls on the floor regardless of how healthy it is My brother asks me everytime I see him what he can do to start getting back in shape, he's married with 2 kids. He's far from being unhealthy his wife cooks great food all the time he just isn't athletic. I've been trying to tell him that everything you do from the time you wake up til the time you crash at the end of the day makes a difference. Little things like intentionally parking at the far end of the parking lot anytime you go somewhere(when you don't have the kids with you), taking the stairs not the elevator, picking up your pace when you walk anywhere, and even if you don't need it, take a backpack with you and throw 20 pounds in it everywhere you go. Something as simple as that will add up to probably a good 2-3000 calories a week. That's almost a whole days worth of food you've just burned off right there. I've been active my whole life so it's easy for me, and being in the military just adds to how active I am, but I see far too many people making excuses to not stay active and then trying to make up for it every January during the new years resolution time. 16. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In how many US households is dinner cooked from scratch and fresh meat/veggies at least 5/7 days a week? Cheers, T -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mine. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Me too! Now for my cousin who is 250ish. I'll take two double whoppers w/ extra cheese and a DIET Coke. Quote Me three, funny how someone like me who gets up for work at 530 and is going full-bore til 630 at night can manage to cook a healthy dinner and still have time to get to the gym after dinner for a third workout of the day. People who say they can't live a healthy life because of their hectic schedule are full of BS History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  17. How long does it take to accomplish the mission of extinguishing a fire with one of those? Quote Nobody knows really, they don't come with instructions so it is therefore useless to us soldiers History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

  20. Does it fight the terroist fire with a SURGEQuote With a surge of AWESOME!!! Like you don't even know!!! My best friend and I were walking out of the chow hall the other day when she spotted it, she looked at me and said, "did that fire extinguisher actually say combat on it??". so we went back to double check and sure enough, we're arming our chow halls with combat fire extinguishers!! i wanna bring one home with me History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 21. If a hooker tells you that you are the most hung and skilled man she ever met, would you believe that as well? Quote She told me she says that to every guy but only REALLY meant it when she said it to me, and she had to be telling the truth, I mean why would she lie to me History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 22. Question is how do you deal with situations like that. How do we stop that before it even starts.Quote Get rid of this BS attitude in our society that we have to accommodate everyone and make them feel good about themselves. Get people to stop hiding behind excuses like genetics make them fat, anyone can be healthy some of us just have to work harder at it. We've created a society that wants to make everyone feel good about themselves, doing things like calling obeisity[sp?] a disease instead of a weakness and not forcing kids who aren't naturally athletic to participate in physical activities so they can become even less athletic and people wonder why we live in a county full of disgustingly unhealthy people. 23. the COMBAT FIRE EXTINGUISHER..............every chow hall in Iraq is now equipped with them. Able to extinguish terrorist fires in a single blow, but only terrorist fires. The War

If you read what I first wrote, it is that THIS PROGRAM appears to be dwelling on the screw-ups. Which makes it quite different from, say, "Victory at Sea". The War

In any major military operation there are going to be things that go wrong, 90% of the time we go into the objective area blind. Mistakes aside the overall criteria for success on D-Day were met, against overwhelming odds yet the only thing you can do is highlight the mistakes that were made. Nothing in combat happens the way it should, Murphy climbs into the pocket of every soldier that steps on the battlefield and hangs on for the ride. Yet as stated before the only you care about when there is a topic involving the military in any capacity is how "screwed up" the military is, you have quite the dreary way of looking at everything.
