  1. They were ether very smart or very lucky, the tracks are perfectly placed between two potential failure zones, just looking at the two bowls they have the perfect potential to fail and create a slide and the area in between is prefectly stable. So the skiers either knew what they were doing or they hit the jackpot that day and should go buy a lotto ticket. 2. Using individuals who have been killed in the war as ammo to further your argument is pretty fuckin low. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  3. What's that you say? A dem used the soldiers as a tool to better their political career without giving a flying fuck about us? NOOOOOOOOOOOO, that would never happen. I knew from the beginning this was going to happen and they didn't really give a shit about us, and honestly I could care less, I like the war, if we didn't have it I probably would have gotten out a long time ago. 5. Astrology is what you make of it, its true that there are some people who base their day to day actions on what the planets are doing and a lot of the times the successes and failures in their lives can more be attributed to how much they convince themselves these things are going to happen than anything else. Some famous astrologers have admitted that basing your life around predictions is going to make them come true because you subconciously make them happen and that can have a very negative affect on your life. Everyone who believes in astrology on some level uses it for different reasons, some people look at astrology as a way to better understand themselves and those around them. It's not completely baseless, I study some aspects of astrology and I personally feel that it has helped me grow a lot as a person. Well remember, before we start the R&D we need to know what kind of boobs we are dealing with, therefore we need all dz.com women to send in pics of their boobs so we can get the dimensions for the implants. 7. the Mir lesnar fight was great, I had money on Mir, I knew he could pull it off. I saw a leg submission coming as soon as Lesnar tried to push Mir's leg down and step through, he neglegted his back leg and when Mir took holdof it Lesnar made a white belt mistake, I thought it was going to be a heel hook attempt, possibly a failed one but Lesnar spun THE WRONG FUCKING DIRECTION to get out of it and basicaly handed Mir the kneebar. BJJ is all about capitalizing on your opponents mistakes, never force a submission, set your position and wait for an opening. The Sylvia Noguera fight showed everyone what we already knew about Minatauro, he's fuckin resilient, Sylvia couldn't put him away. Noguera couldn't get a takedown after the end of the first round so he did a smart thing came in and dropped back with Tim in an X-guard, used it to get a perfect sweep, and again, waited for a mistake to be made. He knew he could survive the ground and pound so he put himself in that position and turned it into pure gold. I was happy as hell with last nights fights, very few of them went to the ending bell, it was definitely a great night. And to make the fight even better the guy that made the bet with me was trying to find ways to get out of it so I offered him a double or nothing chance, we grapple for it, he gets to start on my back with an arm across my throat and if I can't reverse it and submit him he gets out of paying me. And as he got more drunk he took another offer, triple or nothing I can reverse it to any type of a submission on the legs, I think I'm gonna offer him another kicker and put a time limit on how long it takes for me to land the submission. I'm gonna clean this guy out!!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  8. Thanks, Dan... I appreciate it. I remember the quote "You always train for the LAST war" and wondered if training had caught up.Quote From what I understand the training has ver much caught up to where we are finding ourselves today, it's not as simple as it used to be where there were the bad guys in different uniforms and us in our uniforms, it's a whole different ball game and those of us that were brought up with the old mindset had to learn on the fly after 9-11. I think th Army has moved in a great direction with what it is teaching the new guys. But like Zen said, you can't teach someone to deal with stress, I'm only 26 and I'm already seeing a huge gap between myself and the 18-20 year olds coming in. You don't see the tough corn-fed country boys nearly as much as you used to, it's a shame. I'm kindof glad I'm getting ready to step out of the operational inventory for a few years, hopefully things willturn around and the military will grow some balls and return the privilige of getting to put a boot in someone's ass back to the instructors so hey can toughen up the new kids and make their mental toughness match the training they possess History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 9. Is that penetration through gel/ soft tissue type material, or through a hard layer like bone? I'd have thought that the higher energy of a large calibre round would help it punch through the skull itself easier than a small round. You got it, the .22 does have good penetration through softer materials, the .45 if shot in the abdomen may not even go all the way through, but it will make a hell of a mess on the inside because of how slow and heavy it is. and at a skul the .45 would knock his brain out the back of his head. 10. What does an officer need to do to get demoted?Quote A LOT, an officer's comission comes from the Pres. so it takes a lot to knock em down. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  11. "Stress card!!! Stress card!!!" Dan (and others with direct experience) - do you think that Basic/AIT in today's Army does an adequate job in preparing troops for the stress of combat? How well are you seeing new soldiers manage the situation? Quote Well I don't know that stress cards were actually ever used, i've never seen or heard of em, only stories and rumors. As for how basic training is nowadays, no idea either, the last time I had to deal with soldiers just out of basic was in '02. The last time I got a new batch of privates to work with they seemed to be pretty good, and listening to them they went through basically the same basic I went through. Back them they ere still big with Drill and Ceremony and all the little things that people picture when they think of the military and basic training. Our combat training was more geared towards teh last war, Viet Nam, so we did a lot of patrolling in the woods. From what I've heard they have geared basic more towards the combat we are seeing nowadays, basically it just evolved to reflect the modern battlefield. I also heard that there is far less emphasis on marching, formations, and all the little toy soldier things than there was before, so that's ahuge plus. As for preparing people for the stress of combat, that's an individual issue, some people are just naturally calm and relaxed and some people can never handle it no matter how hard you train. You can teach a boxer to be the best striker in the world, but if he's afraid of getting punched back there's no amount of training that can fix that, you gotta get him in the ring and get him used to it. 12. there's a difference between being goodie-goodie and being good enough not to get caught. No I'll respect a guy that's good enough not to get caught, props to them for being good at what they do, I've had people that were so honest I couldn't trust em. I want a guy with a sketchy past next to me when things go bad, they've always proved their worth. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  13. I'd rather their colleages noticed the situation first and were able to allow a more positive outcome. As I'd also prefer a more effective system to help personnel deal with any such issues. And I'm sure you would too, so I'm not having a dig. I suppose we're getting beyond the days of 'man the fuck up, wet pants' being an effective means of advice. But I often wonder - sometimes that attitude is exactly what's needed - unfortunately there's less personnel that'd react positively to it. Quote The thing is. most of the time when soldiers off themselves, they put up a very good front, my teammates can tell as soon as I walk in the door, before I even open my mouth when my girlfriend and I had a fight last night. But I don't hide it when I'm not in a good mood, I know my boys will go out of their way to make sure I'm good to go. Every time I've seen a suicide everyone says the same thing, that they were their normal chipper self and it caught everyone off guard. There are more than enough programs to help people having issues, my former battalion chaplain and I were good friends despite the fact taht I'm not a christian. He didn't come around to "save" people, he would make sure he got one on one time with every soldier and would ask about family life, the work environment, the command climate, and anything else that would negatively affect someone. When someone wants to off themselves there really isn't much to be done unfortunately. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  14. Being an E4 it takes little to nothing to get knocked down a peg or two, your commander can sign off on it because promotions at that level are handled within the company and battalion. Simply showwing up late for work too many times can do it, a long string of seemingly minor discipline issues can be rolled into one if each of them was documented. And the thing about not getting off work, he was most likely given a field grade article 15 and part of the punishment that typcally goes along with that is 45 days restriction to the barracks and duty area, and 45 days of extra duty, which basically means you get off work and go do menial tasks like rake leaves and take out trash until its time for you to crash. every good soldier IMO has at least one of these under their belt, the soldiers that are too good can't be trusted under fire, I'll take a team of guys with criminal records and tarnished records for knocking out know it all officers any day of the week. Overal this is nothing to worry about in the long run, it's a kick in the balls now but you can recover. I had one when I was young and I still made E7 in 7 years. 15. The man at the top of the food chain has little to no control over the moral of the individual soldier, if soldiers are weak mentally than taking them to combat is only going to expose that weakness and push them to the breaking point. What are we supposed to do put all wars on hol until all the soldiers who may be involved have stated how they personally feel the war would affect them? Call me cold-hearted but I'd rather they reach the breaking point and kill themselves than go out and snap under fire and cost someone who had the will to stand and fight their life. how do you think the morale would change if clinton gets elected? Blaming this on the administration is about as logical as blaming someone's AFF instructor because someone did a low hook turn on jump number 5000. 16. Concur. VR/Marg Me three. So I ask the three of you, in your opinon what is the best course of action? An officer is pursuing a fleeing suspect on foot, he can keep pace with the suspect but is falling short of being able to close the distance, at some point in this foot race one of the two is going to fall out, does the officer wait and see if his cardio is better than the suspect's or does he use one of those nifty tools on his belt to slow the suspect? Lets look at all the tools on the belt shall we? Baton....yeah, there's a great one in a chase Pistol....OK, and when the first round misses and goes into someone's house and kills a kid then what? Pepper spray....Genius, let's spray it ahead of us as we are running and see who ends up in the cloud of it first Handcuffs....Maybe we can throw 'em like a boomerang and just like in some crazy ninja movie they'll snap onto his ankles perfectly and trip him up Police badge....They make great ninja starts in a clinch Tazer....OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, LOOK AT THIS, the officer was issued this wonderful tool, it can be used to literally stop this guy in his tracks and 99.9% of the time causes no injury to the suspect. Voice....Yes, that's it, the officer should talk to the suspect, because obviously the first time he approached the suspect the silly man got confused and thought Mr. Policeman wanted to play freeze tag, and haha, he's it, let's run away......"Hey stop, no seriously, stop, I'm not joking I'm a cop, come on man for real, stop running, pppllleeeaaassseee, ok can you at least slow down I'm running out of breath from yelling, ok, you go ahead I'm going to catch my breath, take a left at the light, i'll meet you at the 7-11, oh damn he turned right, maybe he's going to the loaf and jug instead, I'm sure he'll wait for me" All of those options but one are completely retarded, and I'll let you three guess which ones they are. 17. A man runs from the Police and the tools provided to the Police to apprehend people who want to resist arrest are used. 18. I just got a call from the girl I met at the dentists office today, she was on her way home from Yoga, that's so hot. Means she's flexible I love it History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  19. I like going to my dentist because as soon as I walk it the door he offers me a shot of tequila or a beer.Quote And if you take that shot of tequilla before you get in the chair and then close your eyes and pretend it can be just like playing a rousing game of "who's in my mouth" History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 20. So just let people get away with treating people badly? Not show people there are consequences for their actions? So you think it's up to you to punish this person for not being honest about their availability? How very stalkerish of you, good luck with that. 21. person tells you they are soul searching so they can be happy with themselves. 5 days later you found out they are dating and were probably doing so when they said that or before. Is it possible to do both at once? Quote That very well may be a polite way of saying that they aren't interested. But as for the question, you can do lots of things and date at the same time, it's called multi-tasking History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. 22. The thing with Tito and Dana is despite the fact that they hate each other, Dana has always said that he can still do buisiness with Tito regardless. And Randy only did the guest announcer shindig to get himself more comfortable in front of the camera, he made that clear in an interview, being an announcer wasn't a goal of his. And the UFC refusing to find a middle ground with another promotion to get the Fedor fight was one of the big reasons Randy left, that along with the fact that the UFC is always talking him down. They really do treat him like shit for being the best ambassador this sport could ever have, this is a guy who has the class to go on a talk show and sit down next to his future opponent 5 days before a title defense and have a decent conversation with the guy he's about to fight. How do you treat a champion of that caliber the way the UFC treats him? Dana White and the Fertita brothers did great things for this sport once upon a time, but it has become a much bigger animal and all they are doing is riding it for money, and the fighers are paying the price. 23. Expect the smearing to get worse. The smear attacks on McCain in 2000 will be nothing compared to the attacks on Obama or Clinton (whoever wins the DEM nomination). Quote Both sides are equally guilty in this respect, it's BS I agree, but it's part of politics, people would rather focus on the negative aspects of another due to the fact that their positive aspects are usually hard to account for. On the note of smear campaigns though, all the press coverage of Obama's former buddy being arrested is a wonderful example. A close look will show that Obama made an effort to break ties with him a few years ago after getting a good look at this guys corruption, he even supposedly donated all the money this guy had given him to charity in stead of using it in his campaign so he couldn't be accused of taking dirty money. I'm sure in hindsight Obama regrets ever doing and dealings with him, but hindsight is 20/20 and at least he made the effort to distance himself when he realized how bad this guy was. Either way the excessive amount ofpress coverage on this and the way everyone has to mention him as "the guy who contributed to Obama" without mentioning that the contributions were a few years back an later given to charities, this is the perfect example of a smear campaign. With the Clinton camp stench all over it. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
  24. Tito and Vitor are also in different classes, Tito more than likely will never step up to the heavy weights. One of the biggest things he prides himself on is his ability to overpower anyone in the light heavy division. He cuts from 225-235 down to 205 in camp so he has a lot of power over anyone. Stepping up would take that away from him. Although with how slow most Heavy weights are it might make shooting for those big double legs a lot easier. On a side note, this is the 2nd top tier fighter that has walked away from the UFC in the last few months. Randy walked away due to issues with the promotion and now Tito is saying the negotiations for a new contract just aren't working out. These are two of the biggest names int the sport. The UFC is responsible for alienating the most beloved fighter in the world of MMA and has now shunned away their biggest ticket seller. Ortiz holds the records for the biggest PPV buyouts of any UFC and they ave pushed him away. Dana White needs to lose his job and someone who gives a shit about the people that fight for them needs to be broguht in. Look at the payouts for people like Matt Hughes and GSP, and Anderson Silva, for the amount of popularity they have they get chicken scratch. The UFC makes millions on every PPV and I guarantee they pocket stupid amounts of it instead of pumping it back to the fighters and people that work behind the scenes. They are greedy and it's going to be the end of them. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
