No way. No freaking way. Video. That's awesome, I guess you're a natural freeflier. Enjoy your H+P, that's a fun jump. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Progression to learn freeflying ?'s
Dougiefresh replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Here's an idea. Walk up to a hot freefly skychick. Stick out your hand, say "Hi, I'm Kurt." Smile. You'll be amazed at the results. Oh, and don't knock belly rw until you've really tried it. Do 10 4-ways with experienced people and you'll see what a blast it is. This I don't understand. As a fellow 100-jump wonder, I have NEVER had a jump where I didn't learn something or do something new. If you're bored, try 4-way. Never a dull moment. I can understand if all you're doing is solo sits it can get repetitive, but boring? And if you want more risk, you're just ignorant of how dangerous this sport is. Have you had a mal? Lemme tell you, baglocks are not boring. You're still taking "the risk" every time you step foot on the dz. I had a closing loop disappear on me last summer. I figured that I must have lost it PLF'ing the landing. So how was your landing? My team was practicing our meeker exit this past weekend, and kept finding ourselves spinning. Any suggestions on how to stop this or prevent it from happening? The more experienced 4-way people told us that the spin is a product of the exit, but we all tried legs turns to stop it without success. The spin is counterclockwise when viewed from above. There's a quite funny vid of us spinning so hard that Jeremy (praetorian) gets whipped off and is never seen again. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. You HAVE to make the first move, because we're wimps and are intimidated by powerful, self-confident (sexy!) women. Sorry, that's just the way it is. Does anyone know the name of this book? It's about a girl who lives in a walled off compound in the near future. Drought has ruined the American economy so everyone is walking to Canada to find work. The compound gets attacked by Pyros, people who take this drug that makes them want to burn stuff. The rest of the story is about the girl's adventure trying to stay alive and establish a community. There's a sequel too, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the book or the author. Anyone? Anyone? never mind, I found it. "Parable of the Sower" by Octavia E. Butler. There's a painting in the Louvre (at least it was there when I was there years ago) of a little cherub being taken away by an eagle. No, he's not riding the eagle. The eagle has swooped down and grabbed the kid with its talons. The kid is peeing he's so scared. This is supposed to be high art? The guy who painted it had a whole wall, maybe 10 paintings. It''s not modern, either, it's like, "ah, the mona lisa. Kinda boring, but nice. And here's some Monet water lilies, how pretty. and over here, we have... wtf?" I guess some people think of a kid peeing as the picture of innocence or something. Wierd. I don't think they have to be too clever... consider the audience. People are dumber than you think, and if someone is watching reality tv (or tv at all, for that matter) they're pretty easily entertained. There IS no engagement by the audience. I'm on long-acting ritalin. It works great, makes me super thirsty though. And I have to remember to eat because it kills my appetite, so when it wears off I'm ravenous. Don't need it when I jump, somehow I'm able to concentrate on physical action much more than mental action.
