Things I never wish to be, nor wish a friend to be
Dougiefresh replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
That guy in the double mal video. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams -
Cost is no issue if I ever need it. I'm gonna pay whatever the man is asking for the most proven device out there. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

That looks like the happiest dog in the world.

Here's some help. Be sure to change a few words so it's not plagarism. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Didn't he bounce? I don't think there's any reference to his Stiletto... now I want to go check. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

You lucky ducky bastard. Jealousy has set in. Floyd AND Hendrix? man oh man. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

I think you chose correctly. I wonder if all the chemicals he put into his body contributed to his mental state at the end? I don't see how his brain could have remained healthy with all that crap pumping through it. Of course, maybe the chemical use was the result of the mental state. Sort of the chicken and egg question. He'll live forever in his work. It's sad that his life ended this way, but he had a hell of a run. I like to think he's getting his ass kicked by a different sort of angels now. Sure, right after you fly up to altitude without the plane. You might see some pigs up there with you. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

A lot to learn. There's the understatement of the year. There are people who have been in this sport for 20 years and say they're still learning. You're not gonna learn it all in 2 or 20 or 200 jumps. As for your jump being a disaster, I can think of much worse things that could have happened. You did enough right that you didn't get hurt. Keep doing that and the rest will come.

HA! I've been on that shit (and others) for 8 years. I don't believe it hurts my brain, although sometimes warm orange bucket of plaster, with alligator elevator discombobulator Fredrick margle hmm? p.s. attitude really does make all the difference. As my grandfather likes to say, "Illigitimi non carborundum". Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Jeez, don't be so hard on yourself. Nobody is an expert skydiver on their second training jump. If you beat up on yourself, and constantly think about how much you suck, then you WILL suck the next time you jump. Learn from your mistakes, and get back up there and try it again.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. There's a quote by Robert Louis Stevenson that I like: "You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us." Don't worry, Tobby is chasing squirrels in the biggest dog park he's ever seen. If you're still a hottie and you still know it....

In an effort to make Everquest nerds fatter and lazier.
Dougiefresh replied to Slappie's topic in The Bonfire
I had a Everquest-addicted roommate who literally would not come out of his room for days except to get the pizza at the door and go to the bathroom. There were pizza boxes stacked three feet high in his room, it was disgusting. I couldn't understand it, that game is so ultra lame. Grand Theft Auto at least has a point to it. Hey, breaking the sound barrier would rock! Might sting a bit, but that's the price you pay to move this sport forward. Heh, just realized my sigline is really appropriate. While we're dreaming... I want a pony. I like the idea of a catapult that launches you to altitude. That way you get more time to play in the air, plus that neat moment when you reach the apogee and start falling. Now where's my mechanical engineering software...
