  1. Did they find the batteries too? Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
  2. Are you kidding?:10:2 Ten jumps, six out of the PAC on Friday and 4 at the MWSL meet on Saturday. First jump out of a PAC, first time at SkyKnights. For those who haven't jumped the PAC, do it. It's a beautiful little plane -- comfortable, fast, and fun. Prop blast is very different from an otter, but I got used to it. 3. The worst part is, the stick is long enough to give him some margain of safety... but he jams it down so the wick is as close to him as it can get. 4. 8 months. F***in wisconsin winter. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
  5. I started playing with risers at about 50 jumps, up high of course. I just started doing double fronts before landing. I had been bringing the canopy in a little fast for about 30 jumps prior to that by doing a short final and toggle whipping into it. Dragging my toes across the grass is fun, even if it is only for 5 feet or so. The reason I started is so I can fly my canopy (sabre2 170 loaded 1:1) to its fullest before I downsize. 17. Sorry to butt in on the standard conservative v. liberal debate, but I'm going to actually answer the question. My grandfather, who was raised republican, served in three wars and rose to the rank of colonel in the USAF, and had NEVER voted democrat, told the family before he died two weeks ago that he regretted voting for W. The only person I ever heard him speak ill of was Clinton, until now. He gave as reasons 1. the economy, specifically wasteful spending, 2. the war, and the lack of leadership and foresight demonstrated, and 3. evidence of bald-faced lying, one of the same things he hated clinton for. I just wish I could have talked to him about it before he died, as we never exactly saw eye-to-eye politically. The fact he withdrew his support is very telling, at least to me. 19. That poor dog on the website. Who the hell spray paints their dog?! And the bit at the end, "I am a responsible dog owner." Yeah right. The poor thing looks so unhappy in the final pic, like "what did I do to deserve THIS? Is this about the teddybear, cuz I'm sorry already!" Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

  23. There's nothing wrong with pausing your flare if you're too high. It means you're paying attention to what's going on instead of just thinking "herecomesthegroundflareNOW!" It's a good idea to show the experts and see what they say though. Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
