  1. I believe it is foolish to put any AAD in your rig and "forget about it." They do change things, and can prove to be fatal if not taken into consideration when determining deployment altitudes, emergency procedures, and canopy flight. Absolutely. Unfortunately, the "forget about it" or "jump like you don't have one" advice is frequently given. Yeahhhhh, I am going to go with the "jump like you don't have one" to apply to relying on yourself for emergency procedures, not the AAD. I do not consider it to be applicable to not understanding the device. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  2. That is the point. It shouldn't be apples and oranges. Why shouldn't contracting from the government have any more restrictions than contracting locally, or personally. . Simple - the government, with its coercive and quasi-monopoly power, should not be in the business of undercutting private enterprise. Authorizing government contractors to pay workers less than the normal laws of supply and demand warrant is a distortion of the free market just as much as setting a minimum wage is. Nuts - I said why have 'more' restrictions. Not the same restrictions. You want feds to pay more than everyone else. Why is that? because the Fed could easily undercut everyone, thus making them more in control. Take for example the Census bureau. As it stand, the Bureau is somewhat unique in that it competes with private sector for special surveys. However, since the Bureau, as part of the Federal government, is able to produce such surveys on a very cheap basis, it is not allowed to bid for contracts. It must be approached so that other survey companies are able to maintain their business. If the Bureau was allowed to bid, it would surely be the lowest bid and the result would be government control of that business. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  3. Not a bad post. However, I disagree with the "shit on all alternatives" Ease of use? perhaps so. But power, ability to customize, monopplization on memory, multitasking? I think not. For the average user, Windows is fantastic. They make a great product for Joe Sixpack to check email, do his taxes, and write a letter. But when I try to run 18 programs, compile code, work on the Internet, and whatever else, Windows sucks. You ever try to make an Access application? We did. The application size was 5.7 MB. After ONE USE, all of the bloat and excess that MS adds to the DB resulting in the file being 27 MB. I should not have to compact and repair my DB after one use. As I said, great for the average user, shit for those who need less CPU being hogged by MS or its programs. In anycase, I still have no problem with them doing this. I believe in the free market and until someone does it better and CHEAPER (I am looking at you Apple), they can keep on keeping on. Oh an not to mention that Xbox is building my friend, who was injured in Afghanistan, a new controller. Sony and Nintendo said no. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  4. So...just another day in Merry Olde, eh? I remeber getting a few days before going home when i was studying abroad in England. It was June. Nightime. I was walking home from the pub. I could see my breath. What had you been drinking? Onion juice? Well, there is that of course. A bit cold outside though too. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

  6. Irony is often lost on the feeble minded. Seriously though, it is more sad than anything anyway. The title of the thread was also meant to be ironic. Oh, the irony wasn't lost, it was pretty clear. It was also pretty lame. Actually, compared to the things which are often passed off as irony, the example is quite good. Or would you say that the Federal Government is currently doing very well with conservation? You may not LIKE the irony, but you cannot deny its existence. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

  8. Ooo, can I be in even with my silver? I have the blue black and white too. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  9. Jesus fucking christ. I mentioned a funny headline about Bush and it takes mere minutes to make a Clinton reference. Did I ever say Clinton was better than Bush? Did I make any sort of statement about any OTHER politician? No. Take the headline on its own merits. Our government is gigantic and Bush, a CONSERVATIVE, has done nothing to curb that. Is it other people's faults? Surely, but he certainly has not helpe at all. I found the headline ironic and amusing. Lighten up people. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  10. Sorry man. Contractors have almost ALWAYS been paid more than Ferderal employees. That is not just a Bush thing. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  11. There is an article in the Post Express (a free paper on the Metro in DC) about the effect of Katrina on gas. The headline actually made me laugh out loud (and feel a little sad at the same time): "Bush urges U.S. to Conserve" You really cannot make this stuff up people. 12. BACK TO THE OTHER THREAD! Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

  14. It's good that you don't want to run into anybody. Kallend is right, though. She was going fast, but not the most efficient, flat, fast track. When one tracks well, you actually will generate lift, like an airplane wing, and fall slower than regular belly flyers. This is a huge advantage to have in the air. It takes some practice. Most people just never push on the air hard enough or flatten their bodies enough to achieve it. Gigi is pretty light, so my guess is that if she was in a full on track with no swoop, she would be miles higher than Pete. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  15. WHAAAAAAA?!??! You get the hell outta here with that shite! The media making a story into a bigger idea than it really is? That is ridiculous. ' All you hafta do to see it at the local level even is watch those "Special reports' stations often do. Fear sells. And until the country stops buying into mass hysteria at the drop of a hat, it will keep on going. bleh. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  16. Ha. I never heard him called mjk. I wonder how you deal with that? I mean, plenty of APC and Tool lyrics are not what I would call "Christian Friendly" But that is another topic I guess. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  17. I know what the difference is. I just see the application of one to be contrary to what should be done. Ya know what, this is a fundamental difference of opinions and it is not worth the time anymore. Gots me some work to do anyway. But what is mjk? Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  18. yes, I read the link. And I still stand behind what said. If you are going to say the Bible is true. And the Bible is the Word, then the rules you make about religion and religious personal should be ABSOLUTE. It is either God's will or it isn't. There is no wishy-washy about. Its an overstep of authority. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  19. One who makes excessive profits on goods in short supply. I guess price gouging and profiteering could go hand in hand. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  20. Yes, I know there is interpreted scriptural support. That does not change the fact that they did not implement support of that scripture till well after establishment of the church. So beforehand, what, the Church was wrong? They got the message incorrectly? Heaven forbid! *** i didn't say _interpreted_ scriptural support... that is your term. there is evidence that there were celibate priests in the church from the beginning, both in scripture and in the first few centuries. the history of celibacy is not as black and white as you portray. To me, if you decide to discriminate against someone based upon category rather than individual merits, it is wrong. But that is my opnion. I could care less that the Church has its reasons for not allowing women to be priest, etc. They are still discriminating simply because of a broad category. But even though I don't like it, I am not going to say they cannot. I am simply not going to belong. And that is MY right. And I never said interpreted scripture was your term. Did I have say that? No. Nor did I say it was black and white. I never said that ALL priests were married at some time. It does not matter if there were. The fact that the Church decided to make a rule which is NOT doctrine and based solely on the Bible to me belies using the Bible as the Word of God. If it is the Word, that should be the Law when dealing with how to act in Christianity. You should not be saying, "well, there is this passage here which supports our view so let's make a rule but it will not be absolute". To me, that is overstepping the boundary of the Bible Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  21. Wow....that is..... very random and a little ambiguous. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  22. Yes, I know there is interpreted scriptural support. That does not change the fact that they did not implement support of that scripture till well after establishment of the church. So beforehand, what, the Church was wrong? They got the message incorrectly? Heaven forbid! And yes, I know it is a discipline, instead of doctrine. Anyway, we are getting totally of the topic. Here are the defintions of discriminate ( discrimination uses discriminate in one of its definitions so lets go with the base word) v. intr. 1. a. To make a clear distinction; distinguish: b. To make sensible decisions; 2. To make distinctions on the basis of class or category without regard to individual merit; show preference or prejudice: v. tr. 1. To perceive the distinguishing features of; recognize as distinct: 2. To distinguish by noting differences; differentiate: 3. To make or constitute a distinction in or between: I don't think it matters what you choose. Save for the second definition(1b), they are all very similar. And while, from the point of view of the church, that one may apply, from the universal perspective, the 3rd applies quite clearly. You said billvon pulled a discrimination card. All I am saying is that he was correct. The church discriminates; they have the right to. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  23. Really? So then, the decision to make priest be celibate? That is not willy nilly? That decision was made by a POPE many years after Christ. Regardless, the Church can descriminate anyway it pleases. And it IS discrimination. discrimination -- Treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit; partiality or prejudice But as I said, that is their prerogative based on their beliefs. again, you betray a fundamental misconception of catholic teaching. there are reasons for celebacy and I invite you to read about them. it is rather interesting. and btw, nature discriminates... is that a problem? I mean really, I can't have kids but my wife can. Should I sue someone? Please read what I have been writing. The Church can discriminate all they want; that is what I have been saying. However, when billvon pointed that out you claimed someone was pulling the "discrimination card". But now you say it is okay. Which is it? I was raised Catholic. I know some of the reasons. Does not change the fact that the decision YEARS after Christianity began. Funny how it took more than 300 hundred years to decide that priest should not get married. And all because they finally decided to interpret certain passages a certain way. I have no doubt there are REASONS for celibacy. There are reasons for everything. But that does not mean I think the reasons are correct. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  24. Really? So then, the decision to make priest be celibate? That may not be willy nilly but it certainly goes beyond the call of duty (the Bible). Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  25. Pfft.... completely different shade of blue! Yeah, looks more like MY colors except my dominant is silver, not black...silver, blue, black, white. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
