From the Post Express: A Halifax, England, hospital has banned cooing at newborn babies because of fears their human rights were being breached, the Press Association reported. Calderdale Royal Hospital prohibited people from asking mothers about their babies or looking at them in the maternity wards -- because, it said, these actions disrespected the babies' dignity. The staff even created a doll that carries the message, "What makes you think I want to be looked at?" "These are little people with the same right as you or me...people sometimes touch or talk about the baby like they would if they were examining tins in a supermarket," said hospital manager Debbie Lawson. -------------------- At least we know that PC zealousness is not just an American trait! So, what, since we cannot even LOOK at babies, does that mean we cannot look at adults anymore? Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

No no, you misunderstand me. I BELIEVE in context of the writing because I do not find the Bible to an immutable set of laws and rules. So to understand the rationale for diferent items, I believe Context is quite important. My problem though is that often the excuse when some one points out a contradiction within the text is the easy one: "You are not looking at the context in which it was written." I say that I am. I say that the laws of Leviticus were appropriate for the people and times they were in. I say Genesis is a perfectly acceptable view of the creation of the world for a people with no concept of higher level physics. I feel it is a MUST to look at the historical context to understand why different rules were made and ideals held. It is when the idea of context is used by those who believe the Bible to be the absolute Word of God. If it is simply that, then what need is context? If it is the Word of God and applies to EVERYONE at ALL times, historic contextual meaning moves to 0. One who believes the Bible is the Word of God simply should not use context to try to explain why one portion applies and another does not. The Bible either applies to none or all of God's Children; their is no middleground from this view in my opinion. Luckily, I do not hold that view. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Wait for it.... wait for it... can't you hear it?!?! Its the sound of links being made!!! If the Bible itself is so complex that the absolute believers need to refer to others to understand it, something is wrong. It would seem to me that the only method to understand a book with no errors or contradictions would be to read it. No more would be needed. We certainly would not need apologists to tell use why what we can plainly see is wrong. We would see it for ourselves. Nor would we require to have historical context explained to us. For, in a perfect book of God's Law, historical context should have NO meaning. Law is Law, now or then. An timeless and immutable object (as the Bible is perported to be) stands outside the application of historical context. That is the very meaning of timeless. But since I DO think it is complex and not necessarily perfect, I CAN give a link (ha, that was fun). http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_bmar.htm Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Should we be angry with him? Otherwise, you are in the wrong forum. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. -
who's wasting their time here? um, could it be someone who spends an inordinate amount of time and energy hating all things christian? I ma not wasting MY time. I learn stuff everyday! Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

I gave sinker his turn, now yours: http://www.truluck.com/html/six_bible_passages.html#ICorinthians6:9 And sorry, you either accept ALL of Levitucus or you don't. They either are JUST Jewish law that is not applicaable today (because of that HISTORICAL context you love to shout about) or they are not. Jesus said he was not here to overturn the law, did he not? JESUS, not Paul or Thimothy, never said, "Hey, drop all that stuff about women being unclean from the rulebook, but you know them gays? Keep that one, cause I hate them" You don't get it both ways. Unless of course you decide the Bible is just a guide and not the Word of God...the latter of which you have already stated you believe. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Don't worry, I will do your dirty work. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Absolutely, and that is how I was taught: "Its nice to have, but don't rely on it ever." Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

I use a clasic Pro-Tec and quite a few others do too at my DZ. Some of my friends uses the snowboard helmet (including Jason Eames, I think he uses the snowboard version, - worldclass swooper) Both are fine. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

I would drive just fast enough to stay just a little bit ahead of him, but not get so far away that he gave up hope of catching me. And then see how far I could string him along. So, how many miles did you get him to run before he finally gave up? eh, he didn't run for very long. But I was in an unfamilar apartment complex where i did not know the exits and there were 4 of them. they probably had friends there to (I didn't, wrong turn). So I played it smart and drove away. I think if you really want to be assertive, it would best serve you in other situations. Such as when someone asks you to do something that you KNOW you do not have the time or desire to do. Be assertive and tell them no. Or is a saleman is really pushing to get you to buy something...be assertive and say no. Or if someone owes you money but has been dodging paying it back. Be assertive and ask directly. Or ask thme to give you at least some of it and then follow up later. Those are probably some less dangerous ways to assert yourself. I would back this up. And I was not even yelling at a car. I just stopped cause I thought they wanted to pass me. Instead, they drive by yelling and screaming. then I passed them again as one dude got out and started running after my car (I was in a residental lot driving slow) and spitting at me. These days, it is best to ignore it. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Why Travel? What's the Point?

Assuming you live in a place with other people and animals, trees, flowers, things to do, some type of scenery, etc, why would you go on vacation at all? Why would you leave a home that has all that stuff already? And minorities. We have them where I jump. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. -
A gay priest who does not practice is committing no sin. The sin is the act. If they decide on this, THEY and YOU are wrong according to the Bible. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Do a google search. In fact, i will do it for you: http://news.google.com/news?q=church%20to%20ban%20gay%20priests&sourceid=mozilla-search&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=N&tab=wn It is not a rule yet, but that many articles indicates something is brewing. And besides man, that is what this WHOLE thread was about. It was NEVER aboutsexually ACTIVE gay priests. Such a thing is a contradiction in terms (the sexually active and priest part, not the gay part) Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Not gonna flame you. That is exactly why we don't have woman cops, firefighters, or CEO's. They are far too emotional to take on such volitile and stressful... oh wait. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

From the first page: The Roman Catholic Church is preparing to bar homosexuals from becoming priests even if they are celibate in what could prove to be a defining act of Benedict XVI's papacy. They are barring INACTIVE gay priests. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Definitely Bengal Cat. Those things are awesome...I am not even a cat fan. They are probably the only cat I would own. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

ok bill you lost me in the second paragraph... what priest are we talking about? I got it. You keep saying ACTIVE homosexual. If a man is a priest then he is not ACTIVE is he? He is celibate. Would you want an ACTIVE heterosexual priest? No, the key is INACTIVITY in sex. But then you say that you don't want an active homsexual teaching about morality. Funny, the Father at my church used to tell us all about how married people should be...even though he was not married and never was. As your group Courage said, it is not BEING homosexual in mind that is the problem...it is ACTING upon it. we're on the same page here... Yes, but the church is not. The reults are back. It has been determined that in the 2004 elections, a total of 17 people cast their votes based in independent, critical thought. They all had to write in their candidates name, however. this is what I'm saying - and, by the way, the vote was still split 9 to 8. Do you want to join a consortium of skydivers working to start a DZ on Cuervo Island? We may have to change that. I looked at Cuervo Island and it is pretty small. Although, we maybe import dirt to build it bigger. Maybe we jump from seaplanes. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

In general, yes. But on these boards? Yeah. How many times have you read this: "Bush sucks my balls and is creating huge debt!" 'Oh yeah, well that is no thanks to Clinton. Try seaching on xxx and yyy about him" Variations on a theme. All the left does is Bash everything Bush does and all the right does is divert that to Clinton. Yes, the democrats seems to start more threads bashing Bush, but that is what the minority party does...they feel more threatened (unless you are the Christian right and then you feel threatened being a majority). Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

I agree. And the DNC counts on minorities believing the DNC has their interests at heart, contrary to all evidence to the history. It does indicate that the DNC is much more talented at brainwashing since their members tend to argue much more one-sidedly. At least on these boards. I dunno man, I think the Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats here. Pretty much the same tactics applied to different sides. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. To be more precise: Neither party's core constituency will allow a candidate who will put spending in line with revenues to survive the primaries. yes, they want to continue to "buy" votes and; no, cut spending only, as theories on how to raise revenue differ and are contradictory (revenue is generated by raising, no, lowering taxes). I want to see spending reduced across the board long before any consideration to try and raise taxes (one theory) is put out there. Does Cuervo island have a DZ? Who knows? We will either be too drunk to care or we can build one. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
