Hi 165, Blue skyz 2 ya'!! Look out for the pie!! Ask Tony where the "Hymn..Hymn.."came from?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi sherm, After seeing where you live and having lived within a stones throw of your current residence I would have to say NO. That is you don't "Have" to own a gun but if I were you a "Sherman Tank!!!" or the like would be my lightest option!! Definitely some good reliable side arms and long guns too!! Ruger has a really nice piece called a "Mini 14" I think in several different cal's. They are also running an "election special" from election day till inaugration day for the 20 round "Full cap" magazine for $29.95 or there abouts some 10 bucks off list price!! if bought through the company store!! Gettem' while they last!! Since "Acorn Head" made it to the top slot, Gun sales are thru the roof.!! Should have bought stock in S&W, Ruger, Remington, Springfield Armory, Mossberg, New England Arms, MADE IN THE USA by American Craftsman!! BTW is the "Stocade" still in business in GG (or is it HB?), how about "Cliffs' Guns in SNA?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi Jack!!, As long as there is sky and a way to get "up" there people will "Skydive!" What you see is "change" (and I don't the cliche'd word our president-elect has hijacked!) and lots of it!! Every day somebody gets "a better idea" ...Round canopys got "modified" then came the Paracomander, then the "ram-air" . We've come a long way from those grainy B&W photos of the "First Baton Pass!!" in LIFE magazine back when! (I don't know if it really was "The First" but it sure got people interested!!) Don't worry, Scare-us-valley, D-land and all other DZ's have one thing in common when ever you step out of an aircraft above them, you're still "Directly above the center of the earth!!" C-U at the DZ, wherever it will be!! BTW some trivia about the LIFE baton pass photos, some people saw those, got interested and put an add in the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate newspaper,"Anyone interested in starting a Skydiving Club meet at the National Guard Armory (they had a big hall) on Tuesday night!!" A bunch of people with NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE but had a desire to "Skydive" "Showed up!" and "Louisiana Skidivers came into existance. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi chuck, ....you see a guy at the DZ with a camera and ask him to take your photo when you're landing. He says,"Sure, what color is your canopy??" You answer,"Orange and White!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out -
Hi ak, Far out man!! Hope it works out what with CA's hellacious gun (or should I say ANTI-GUN!!) laws!! I live just about as far East (east of I-95 in NC) of you as one can get except for Maine. My shooting range is off my back deck. 'Just set up a bunch of empty cans, plastic bottles and paper targets out past the shed and plink away!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

SAT, 08NOV08 "The Fayetteville Observer" front page "Teacher says video clip doctored" Teacher Diatha D Harris appears in a video posted on YouTube 'A Fayetteville teacher is defending comments she made to fifth-graders who expressed support for John McCain in class last spring. ...... Saw the clip on FOX last night and the piece in the "Fay Ob" this morning for a shot at the clip go to www.youtube.com and for Superintendent Bill Harrison's statement go to www.ccs.k12.nc.us . If somebody doctored that clip then they are pretty good!! Anyway, the shrapnel is flying and it ain't cuz Barry won!! Check it out at www.fayobserver.com I thought the classroom was to be a place of political neutrality???? We report, you decide. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi jp, Someone called a friend of mine for info on a "$5.00 bet" he made with a co-worker. He bet that Skydivers don't have to "breathe" in freefall because the O2 is being forced in through their skin from the airspeed!! When he told my friend the deal, Pat began laughing like a crazy man!!!!' The guy then said to Pat ,"Well, I guess I lost the bet!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Making 1st Tandem Jump this weekend ... Any Suggestions
skybill replied to seadream91's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Hi 91, What took ya' so long?? Hi jp, Back in late '64 I had about thirty or so jumps and my girlfriends' mom asked me about jumping. Where do you jump? What kind of plane,..etc? How high do you jump from?? At that time I had maybe 2 or 3 30SD's from 7500' (Generally the top floor for our Cessna 172). Next question,"How long do you fall from that high??" "About 30 or so seconds," I reply. "Oh My, how can you hold your breath that long????" said she. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi rad, Good question. There are several issues to take into consideration. Give him a little while to let the "Fluff" wear off and see how well he is "liked/hated" across the country?? Barry talks "change" and all that good political shit but JFK he's not. "However," like JFK, if he steps on too many toes, lookout!! "Where were you in NOV63 when JFK got hit??" I was comming out of Prof. Mayfield's BA 141 Class at SLC when a guy I knew came up to me all elated and announced that,"Kennedy has been shot!!" I went into shock!! I walked over to the Student Union and it was on TV!! The thing that got me was that people organized "Kennedy Assination Parties!!" that night!! I didn't go to any but the booz flowed in Hammond where I lived and New Orleans and Baton Rouge too! I don't know where else but I'm sure there are many testamonies!! These people didn't kill him but they may as well have!! If people get that same kind of hatred twords Barry, he doesn't have a chance. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

43rd Birthday of the First Big-Way 10/17/65
skybill replied to patworks's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Hi Pat, 17OCT65 I was jumping with Southland Skydivers out of a Cessna 170 at Hammond Airport, La. two man attempts and an occasional "complete" was the norm. California was "Light years" ahead of us and everyone else. The storys of "Big Stars" out West made their way to us and the Quest is history. "MY" SCR was still a ways off but that's another story. 'Tell ya' about it sometimes at the Rumbleseat... SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out -
Hi Charlie T, Skydiving did not change my life, it has been my life!! I made my first jump when I was 18 years old. I'm now 63 and just "retired" from my last job as a QC Inspector for "Sunpath Contracting." Just think, I coulda' been an Insurance agent or what ever but "NOOOO!!" not me! "That smell, that fresh nylon smell... I love the smell of nylon in the morning....it smells like SKYDIVE!!!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi NW, Chucky is a "male" cat!! He's just a year and a half old and weighs in around 15+ LBS!! He's a solid grey and when he was a little tyke his coat had a deep "Blue" shade so Peggy said we should name him after our good friend "Chuck Blue!!" The name stuck, there you have it!! Hi Speed, They're all going as themselves, 5 cats!! Angel Food McSpade and Lucky are solid Black so a costume is no problem for them. Chuckey Blue is solid Grey and Jethro and Pumkin are orange tabby so there you have it. Yeah try dressing any of them up?? It would be easier to give a chainsaw a haircut!! Would you mention that you are a skydiver?
skybill replied to Superman32's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi 32, I don't "have" to mention it, but if the subject comes up I'll talk about it all you want!! To the whuffo world, Skydiving can be interesting but to a lot of "whuffos" your being a Skydiver intimidates them! I never had much of a problem like that as all the major jobs I've had have been in Aerospace Parachute rigging. Just about everyone I worked with was an active or retired skydiver!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out -
Hi AD, Yer' right about their selection. At least they have a "selection!!" I've also noticed that over time they only have on their shelves what sells both in size as well as brand from guns to granola!! If it's a "Hot" item that makes money it's there. If not, it's gone. Hi AD, Here at W-M in Clinton, NC: Winchester, Remington, Mossberg, Charles Daily, Savage, Ruger, Federal and more....crappy guns and ammo?? Same brand stuff that was on the shelf at Billy Able's, "Land of Sports" where I grew up in Hammond, LA in the 50's!! Back then I wasn't old enough to buy booz but $0.50 (2 Quarters) on the counter got me a 50 rnd box of Remington or Winchester .22 Shorts. Federal .22 Shorts were $0.49/box of 50.
