  1. Hi Harry, ......AND!,... the wet T-shirt contests (there were several) on the packing tables at the stumbles [SKIN TO WIN!!!!!!]!! Also watching 16mm skydiving movies (before air to air video) on those same packing tables !! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  2. Hi Tee, ....skydiver when...., You have a pull up cord on your belt loop even when you are not at the DZ! You go to a job interview dressed in cutoffs, skydive T-shirt, pullup cord on belt loop, cool shades, ball cap with skydiving badges hilighted, Tiva sandals or flip-flops with a stow band by the big toe and last but not least, you bring a six pak of beer!! You're really a skydiver when you've been living on the DZ in a tent and havn't set foot off the airport in over 6 months!!! (unless you landed out from a bad spot!!) SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  3. Dear little Timmy!< Pulling at 2k isn't going to upset any but the really gullible whuffs. What you really need to do is as you're tracking off, look down at someone laying down on the grass watching the dives and get right over the top of them....Got that? Then hum it on down till they can see your goggles and shoe laces, get scared, get up and run like hell. Got that? Then you pull!! When you get under canopy, yell down to them, "Hahahahah made ya' move, made ya' move!!!!" My friend Kerry Smith from Indiana told that story about some dude at his old home DZ!!! I still don't think you are going to get anyone to up the floor of the opening alts for the BSR's any time soon. So go out in the back 40 and play with Lassie. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

    Sky King . . .

Hi Nick, Sky King was so cool!! 'Ya remember before the Cessna 310 he had the old Cessna T-50 "Bobcat" with the Shakey Jake round engines on the front!! Jerk my memory really good but like for sure like yesterday and I hope the episopde is in the archives so here goes!! About 1951 or so I'm 5 going on 6 years old and Pumpy and his brother Garland lived next door and they had a TV set!! Black and white of course!! We watched Sky King along with all the other shows but on one episode of Sky King I remember.... meanwhile back at the ranch... the bad guys were in some cabin out in the desert and Sky and Penny (dig it, this ponytailed young chick has at least a Private License with a Multi engine rating!!!!) are overhead at night in the "Songbird" so Uncle Sky straps on a "Seat Pack" parachute climbs out of the left side door takes 3 steps on the wing walk way, dressed in cowboyboy boots, slacks, western shirt, bolo tie, no helmit or goggles,he left his western hat in the plane, and now he jumps off the wing, does a 5 to 10 second delay opens the chute and lands about a hundred yards from the hideout where the bad guys are!! Would love to see that episode again. Guess I have to wade thru all those episodes!!! BTW Pumpy and Garlands dad was a real pilot for an airline (Don't know which one but he flew out of New Orleans) and Pumpy always made sure he said his dad flew DC-4's and they had 4 engines!!! Cool beans like the one Jim Blumenthal had that we jumped at Ghoulidge back in the 80's!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi GUN, That doesn't sound good!! If he was a real Catholic Priest he would have said,"God bless you!" and if he was an Irish Catholic Priest from Boston he would probably have said,"My goodness and may God Bless you my son!!" So, this dude was probably an Islamic terrorist masquerading in Catholic Priests' clothing hell bent on mayhem!!" Just my thoughts on the subject..... BTW,"May God Bless you my son!! PS. Remember those old movies when Spencer Tracy and Bing Crosby would play the part of a Catholic Priest oh yes and Ingrid Bergman was the smiling Nun!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Eck, Note that I said that you can pull at any alt "ABOVE" the BSR min's!! Every canopy has its quirks about opening and the pilot has to take that into consideration for setting his/her uncorking alt. Go where ever your comfort zone takes "YOU!!!!!" Got that? Also the pull alts havn't chged but the canopies have well far out!!!! Not everybody jumps a hi-speed micro so that doesn't mean that everybody has to pull in outer space!! If I had a micro I'd pull higher too!! My bones don't bend like they used to when I was 19 so these daze I like a canopy with a few more sq ft for easier landings (and longer glides!!). For a ZP elipt, my Stiletto 190 does just fine!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Jim, Thanks!! Those were the daze!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  8. Hi Skit, 'Well I don't know where you pull at but on pg 2 read Zig Zag's post, it has the BSR's on pull alts. Also down a few from there read Jimmy's (airtwardo) post. I concur with him. Don't start bending the BSR's!! Nobody said you "MUST" pull at those alts! You can pull at any alt "ABOVE" those that you want!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  9. Hi fire, I'm much oblidged for the warnin' but I've been aware of the predickament fer jes' 63 yers' now!! How time flys! Once there was "Long hair" now there's "No Hair!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  10. Hi Ob (Lady with the sheepish grin!), HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Howabout the "overspray"???? Sounds like a set up for a "Guy" version of a Ladies' Brazillian Wax Job!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  11. Hi Jav, Wow!! Sorry to hear about Mac Mcgraw!! I was a student at Parachute Riggers "A" School at Lakehurst in the spring/summer of '67 and a member of the Navy Lakehurst Parachute Team (Club) Mac was with the club and Chuck Seymour too. Here's to Mac, Good times and good jumps remembered!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  12. Hi John, Yup, looks like some kinda' cord serving or tape. Back in the day some jumpers would do that to make the R/C more visible, easier to grip and or easy to ID if one of your jump buddies "borrowed" it!! I remember a lot of guys from Louisiana Skydivers from Baton Rouge did that circa early 60's. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  13. Hi jumps, I don't know about those DVD's or the mile high club thing but skydiving wise ..... Dig it, like you plan this bitchin' dive and it's going better than planned!! You'll have altitude left, nobody else is docking and nobody is low and everyone realizes that it's above 4 grand and the formation is "COMPLETE!!" so everyone starts yahooing at the top of their lungs as they break off and open!! Been there done that got the T-shirt!!! Once after a bitchin dive at old Elsinore we just got back to the packing area and everybody was cutting up and yahooing about the jump and some whuffo comes up wanting to start a conversation and asked me,"How long does it take to come down??" "Three or four days!!" I answer!! Get it?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  14. Hi hbar, 'Going back a few years at Otay in the early 70's, out the door of Mac's Beech, Keith k. was 225 (no gear) and Lorenzo was the same, (base-pin) so we we were off and running. I was usually flying #5 in the line up at 165 (no gear). With gear we probably topped your numbers, or close to it without. Either way, it was fun. Gear was in the 40 to 70 lb range, main, reseerve, harness, hardhat (Bell 500 or) Boots (Frenchies) suit (Pioneer 2Xzipper)!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  15. Hi FLY, 'Don't know about "SKYDIVE" everyone hovers around that one or a spinoff. The one that I thought said it all was Pat Swovelin's "SKY GOD" on his yellow porsche!! That was before most of these DZ.Commers were born!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  16. Hi Tony, BSBD.."and"..."GREEN STAR RIGS!!!!" the call to arms at Otay after that Navy dude went in with the "modified" rig!! Don't recall what exactly the mod was but between the "Design" and the "riging work" it didn't "work!!" Reminds me of some of the "Scary Stories" from the bad old daze of dudes "sewing D-rings to the 'outside' of the main lift webb on B-4 rigs" and when they pulled their reserve on a total or other high speed mal, the reserve ""RIPPED"""away at the stitiching!! Usually a couple of turns of 5-cord!! "Slaved" on reserve risers are generally not a good idea. Note how most rigs today have the reserve risers webbing continue to become the harness!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  17. Hi Chi!!, 'Got my private SEL 06SEP1979 in a Cessna 150. Back then a 150 went for $15.00 WET!! instructors were $10.00/hr!! NOT ANY MORE MAN!!! Congrats on your certs!! Keep the dirty side down!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  18. Hey Lip, redo the attach, unless that's the point? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  19. Hi heck, "Anybody can sue anybody else for anything!!" There are no rules, it's like "Getting Pied" at the DZ, there really are no rules "Anybody can pie anybody else for anything!!" Just remember though, "Paybacks can be a real bitch!!" In the old Amos and Andy radio show, one of Andy's girlfriends, "Madam Queen," sued him for "Breech of promise" using the Law firm of "Steel, Stone, Hardrock and Flint" while Andy's Lawyer was the famous "Algonquin P. Calhoun!!" BTW, Madam Queen lost!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  20. Hi Strat!!!!!, 'Just love it!!!!! That wasn't a "Low Pull Contest" that was standard operating proceedure!! Well almost!! B-4's, "Sleeves," No AAD's!! still got a MAR 1943 "Fashion Frocks" 24' Twill Chest reserve!! Too much fun!! ....And we're getting out at 3.5K .. cool, a 3-man from 3.5 outa the Cessna 180, hell, one low celing day at Otay back when, we had an impromptu 3-man scrambles from 3.5, Lots of fun!!!!!! PS, Did some diggin' the 3-man (impromptu) scrambles at Otay was not from 3.5 but 5.5K, (SAT) my jump log# 423 12NOV72 Otay 5500' Cessna172, me, Woody Woodhouse and Joe Leeth. As I recall Don Whildin talked it up as a bunch of us were there to jump but the scud was in. However< there were other 3-man from 3.5 attempts that I recall most involving a lot of yelling and screaming from those involved and the ASO!!!!! Get my drift?? One at Old Elsinore comes to mind when the SantaAna's blew in one day and everybody went to the Rumbleseat to drink em' down. Magpie flunked a Pope demo and had to hang a pitcher. Later back at the DZ when the winds went down everybody scrambled to get on any plane they coulld to get in the air!! I ended up in the Cessna 180 with Stanley and Magpie. We tried the 3 man but Magpie went sailing by me and Stan.....down to 450'!!! He got good and grounded!! Time sure flys when yer' havin' fun!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  21. Hi Chappie, That's a "Goodie!!" Pioneer had production sites all over, so did Irvin and others. Back in the bad old daze of the sport when B-4 rigs were the norm there was a bunch on the scene mfg. back when by "Fashion Frocks!!" Got a Mar 1943 Fashion Frocks 24' Twill reserve canopy in my archives!! PS, Could you tell if the pilotchute was "Kosher???" ouiveh!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  22. Hi Dived, Well jes' chek out some of the above posts by square, twardo and the others. It's up to you. Sure yo don't have to "bother" with the hassle but like square said about his father's flying logs, they are "Priceless!!" Personally, I log all my jumps and do notes and diagrams and put "C-D_ Video" as I have sevral VHS "Log" tapes from the DZ!! Got a shoe box here at the desk with 15 logs in it. 7 of the old blue PI logs and the rest are the Black wire bound precision freefall logs and #16 in my jump gear bag. Wanna' know who did what when?? Several fellow skydivers would bug me to borrow my books so they could "catch up", sure, as long as you keep buying BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS, What I really like is the people who have only been at the DZ for just a couple of years, "Don't Log" and all of a sudden they have 6000 JUMPS!!!!!!!!!! Sure dude, ya' didn't win the lottery, yo' daddy's NOT rich and you don't have a job!!! Somebody had to pay for those jumps and you ain't shootin video or instructin' so WTFTD!!! 23. Hi Andri!!, And we're off!! Whips and chains!! Did some diggin' in the archives and.. the year was 1987, Norman Kent publishes his "Skydiving Fantasy Calendar" the month was September and the photo shows a jumper in black with a lady jumper astride his rig, she has a black rig, black mesh nylons and garter belt, a black leather/open front mesh vest, a black horn rimmed mask, black mesh elbow length gloves and a "whip" Yup that was Wayne and Denise!!! Skydiving has always been "Hotter" at Perris!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  24. Hi tx, Or was it window payne, blotter, blue cheer (not the laundry soap!!) orange sunshine or some original Owsley????? Don't worry about the spelling, "remembering" is the issue!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  25. Hi Bane, Looking for a "Pro Dom" name?? How about "Mistress Lilith." Before there was Adam and Eve, there was Adam and Lilith, at least that's the way the story goes!! The big "G" little o-d made Man and Woman and put them in Paradise!! Lilith was Adam's mate but was very "Head strong and Domineering!" so Adam got up with"God" and expressed his displeasure so "God" made her "go away." It was a while later that old Adam got "lonely" and that's when "God" did the "Rib Thing!!" Lo and behold... "Eve!" Meanwhile back at the ranch, Lilith went on to do great things and hook up with "Lucifer" (we all know who he is) and became his Girlfriend(actually she became his Dom and he was her Subbie, probably why he has such an "attitude!!") So how about "Mistress Lilith?? PS all this info is steeped in some very smokey purple haze from back when...... SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
