In addition to the facts you already mentioned, if you are one that downshifts like I do, your brakes last a LOT longer. I dont brag to anyone about it cuz who the hell cares?

New students don't stick with it?

I don't see him apologizing for who he is. Looks more like he is able to take a look at himself and if he finds himself at fault is man enough to own up to it. Your remarks here are inflammatory and serve no useful purpose. Are you actually encouraging someone to be arrogant and disrespectful to people with more experience in order to avoid looking like a kiss-ass? Thats certainly what it looks like. __ My mighty steed -
That was my Dads favorite place on earth. I think when he died he passed on heaven and went to St. John instead.

My 2005 FatBoy has footboards that are quite comfy and sufficiently large that I can position my feet fairly far forward for highway comfort, but also slide them back far enough that I can easily raise myself up on them when going over a bump. These are stock on the Fatboy I think you can pretty much have them any way you like. Most guys I know have 2 sets of pegs exactly as you described. Any of the Harleys I've seen that have controls and pegs really far forward were specifically requested by the buyer to be set up that way. There are also different options available for different models. I expect its this way for every manufacturer, whether they are from the USA, Japan, Germany, or wherever. Bottom line is its just up to the rider how they get set up. __ My mighty steed

Well, it was only 4 actually, and it wasn't that they "had" to all do it, it was just simply that when each spoke to me they had no knowledge of others having done so already. Nobody did this at all. Everyone was polite and respectful, and detailed. As I said, they didn't all "have to". Thats just how it worked out. I did not feel as if anyone was treating me disrespectfully or unfairly. My point was that the whole staff makes safety their personal responsibility whether its their own, a students, of just a fun jumper that should know better like myself. Had they all been standing together and saw my landing I'd bet they would have had just one person speak to me, but they were all in different places and spoke to me at different times, and none of them "called me on the carpet" in front of other people __ My mighty steed

We dont really have seperate landing areas, but even so I can answer that in part by telling you about a real dumbass thing I did yesterday. On my first jump of the day the wind was out of the north and we all landed to the north. While on the ride up on my second jump the winds shifted 180 degrees and were coming out of the south. I COMPLETELY FAILED to notice that everyone was landing the opposite direction from the previous load until it was way too late. I set up my usual pattern and by the time I realized my mistake I had a choice of down winding against the pattern everyone else was flying, or trying to do a 180 and land with the wind. I was low. I dont do high performance landings. I was the last guy down so there was no chance of a collision in this case. It was a very fast but otherwise uneventful landing. The landing police was almost every instructor at the dropzone, and I was talked to by almost every one of them about what I did and why it was so dangerous, not only to me but to others. Fact is, I consider myself to be a fairly heads up jumper, but all it took was a change in wind conditions while I was riding up, and a bit of complacency on my part, and I instantly became a hazard and a schmuk At my drop zone they take safety seriously and everyone participates. I learned a valuable lesson and I'm glad the price wasn't very high. I was embarrassed and felt like an idiot. I got called on it by several different people. As a side note, none of them treated me like an idiot. They were all very direct, but also respectful. I love my dropzone. __ My mighty steed

Northeast New England Pegged me. I'm surprised too because I lost the accent when I was a kid. I pronounce the letter R like a regular person, not the way they do in new england like "ah" It still nailed me right on the money. __ My mighty steed

Wow.. that is profound. I'll remember that for any and all of my future postings. You should remember that if you want people to understand you. As misdirected as your sarcasm is, you obviously wanted me to feel the contempt that you have for me and stated it very clearly. We cant have meatheads like myself instructing you in public forums, now can we? If everyone stated their messages with that level of clarity, there would be no problems. __ My mighty steed

I have made jumps in the rain with nothing protecting my neck. Hurts like a bastard and I looked like a lobster. They still aren't "pointy" __ My mighty steed

It's easy for misunderstandings or miscommunications to happen online. It is very easy indeed. Thats why it's important to be very clear exactly what you mean, otherwise you invite such misunderstandings. __ My mighty steed

Its not the fact that they asked a question. The implication was that there was something wrong with the vet telling them to bring it in and have it checked out like all the vet was trying to do was gouge their money out of their pockets. The vet was 100% correct in telling them to bring the dog in. __ My mighty steed
