I have some on the way from overseas; if they make it past customs, I'll let you know how they grow for me. Be careful with those babies if you get a crop. They are strong enough to blister sensitive skin. No shit

If that were the case, she likely would have had a reaction LONG before she managed to get 7 double espresso's down her throat

Probably a Jamaican Red Hot. Pretty hot at 150,000 scoville units. Not as hot as the habanero varieties I mentioned earlier __ My mighty steed

Agreed. Sometimes I will fuck up and down on the same day! __ My mighty steed

Who could possibly have imagined that 7 doubles (14 shots) of espresso might be a tad much?!? She hopes other people can learn from her experience I dont think one can learn to not be an idiot

I cultivate Red Savina Habaneros (550,000+ scoville units) and Caribbean Red Habaneros (400,000+ scoville units) for hot sauce. If you like hot, these habanero varieties are more than 2x hotter than scotch bonnets. Scotch Bonnets weighing in at a mere 200,000 scoville units If you want ridiculously hot, try a Bhut Jolokia. (over 1,000,000 scoville units) To put all these numbers into perspective, the very hottest jalapeno's are only around 4000 to 6000 scoville units __ My mighty steed

hang in there. Some jumps seem to present more of a mental obstacle than others, and it doesnt always seem to be in direct proportion to the amount of perceived "danger" involved. I had many jumps that gave me the willies. You are not unusual in this. Its not an indication that skydiving is not for you. Next time you are in your car at the dz struggling to get out, just close your eyes for a few minutes, breathe in and out slowly and smoothly, try to clear your mind and relax. Then get out of your car and go jump

If you weight 165 then your wing loading is around 1.1 You forgot to include the weight of your gear in your calculations __ My mighty steed

Harley's run very lean out of the factory. Not rich. __ My mighty steed

Not necessarily. You didnt really increase the air intake. You just put it back the way it was supposed to be by giving it a clean filter. It was already jetted for that airflow. Had you upgraded the intake in some way allowing for more airflow, you would need to re-jet. __ My mighty steed

Not. Skydivers are just like everyone else. Some are cool, some are jerks. __ My mighty steed

I dont have to decide. This issue has nothing to do with whatever monetary value I would place on my life. Repack fee's are not the issue either. I dont ever leave my rig unattended in a potentially damaging environment and I routinely check my gear as the manufacturer suggests including manipulating the 3 rings to prevent them taking a set, and checking the cables to make sure they move freely. The cable check I do every time I go to the DZ. Extending the repack cycle would not pose any appreciable additional risk to my life. __ My mighty steed
-
I don't see how extending it 2 months would prevent this type of thing. Its not going to make people think any harder before doing something like that. We currently have a 120 day cycle and the OP put his rig in the trunk. Is it just that you think a longer cycle might cause things like that to go unnoticed for a longer period of time before being caught by a rigger? I believe that unfairly penalizes everyone. I think people should be more careful with their gear and not depend 100% on riggers to catch potential problems. If the guy with the melted cables regularly inspected his own gear and made sure that all the cables could move freely (as we are supposed to do) then the length of the repack cycle wouldnt make any difference __ My mighty steed

Right now I'm 230 lbs. and I'm 5' 10" Thats 260 out the door with gear. Whats worse is that its mostly muscle as I do a lot of bodybuilding. This means I'm very small for my weight. Its not just how much you weigh. Your mass:volume ratio is important A heavy:small guy is gonna go a whole lot faster than a heavy:large guy at the same weight cuz the large guy has more drag. I go pretty fast but I have a suit with booties thats baggy and made of poly-cotton and it helps a lot. At this weight I can fall at RW speeds and turn points. Its one of natures cruel jokes that a fatter guy with less muscle will actually have an easier time of it, their weights being equal. For me, 230 lbs is about the MAX I can weigh and still successfully do RW without falling out of the formation when we go to turn points. __ My mighty steed

I'm assuming you mean in appearance, because it's probably not in ability to absorb impacts. Wendy W. I should have been more clear. I meant the "if it looks good..." as a smart-ass comment. Everyone knows that if it looks good, then skydivers want one. Pro-tec is still the best buy for $$ and protection. You can also make them look pretty good with the right paint job. Heres mine.. __ My mighty steed

I'm not. Posts that say things like "So-and-so is an idiot" or come across as outright insulting or condescending are largely useless even if they are true or have useful information in them. They immediately alienate the person they are directed at and basically reduce their value as a teaching tool to naught. Good information presented in an antagonistic way is noise or might as well be because the intended recipient will stop listening with an open mind as soon as they feel insulted or get angry and defensive. Its not necessary to be "nice" as you say. Be direct. Be blunt. Be factual. Thats all fine. Cross the line into demeaning and it no longer serves any purpose other than for the person presenting the information to vent. Thats noise. __ My mighty steed

That made me think of the videoclip of the dumb ass teenagers in the car that were trying to "door" kids riding bicycles and video it. Well, the dumb fuck tried, missed, then fell out right into the front fender of a car going the other way! Karma's a bitch... Man, I remember seeing that vid! The hit that kid took makes me cringe now just remembering it. I was real glad that he totally deserved it

I think it would be a reasonable expectation that you would get some serious responses and some noise. This IS a public forum after all. Take the serious responses and learn from them. Ignore the noise. Complaining about the noise only makes you appear: a. unrealistic and b. to be focusing on the wrong responses. You got some very good replies here from some very experienced skydivers. Seems to me thats what you were looking for, yes? __ My mighty steed
