Health insurance and skydiving acidents?
ChrisL replied to DougH's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wouldn't take the chance :-) If I could get myself to the ER and didnt need an ambulance ride, I'd just lie about how I got injured :-) __ My mighty steed -
7 years to get to E-4? You DO need a good week __ My mighty steed

Gender identity may well be hard wired from birth, BUT we as a culture assign roles to those genders with regard to how one should play, what one should wear etc. Until a child is old enough to learn these culturally determined roles and intellectually understand that girls wear dresses and boys wear pants and girls play with barbie dolls and boys play with trucks etc You simply cant convince me that a 2 year old boy, hard wired with a female gender identity, is going to have a desire to wear a dress instead of pants That stuff is defined by our culture and requires a certain level of intellectual sophistication and understanding before conflicts can arise out of that child being forced into male gender roles. 6 years old? Maybe. 2 or 3? Gimme a break. That boy may well be wired to feel female, but he isnt going to notice any problems until he is old enough to understand our cultures normal gender roles. __ My mighty steed

I did a POPS record jump in NJ last week with Tom Morrison who is 81 years old and an awesome skydiver

Probably not, but at 6 years old I doubt its much of an issue at all to the kid. Seems like the parents might have some issues if they are layin that kind of crap on a 6 year old or drawing absurd conclusions from the fact that a 2 year old unsnapped his onesie. __ My mighty steed

Flaring/ Bruises/ sore arms
ChrisL replied to BelskyBlueEyes's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Its only sad if it bothers you but you do nothing to change it. If you are content to be as you are, and your strength is adequate for your needs, then its not sad at all. __ My mighty steed -
Swoop was a character in the movie Dropzone, not Cutaway. __ My mighty steed

It passed its purpose 15 or 20 years ago. Its now pure horse shit and has been for a very long time. __ My mighty steed

Flaring/ Bruises/ sore arms
ChrisL replied to BelskyBlueEyes's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm sure you look awesome. :-) Dont compare yourself to people "your own age" or any other people at all. Most people of any age in the USA are in absolutely horrible shape and those over 40 are even worse. Compare yourself to what you want and what your life requires of you. If you have a hard time flaring, then you aren't strong enough for the activity you have chosen. So get stronger. Sounds like you plan to. The good news is that a side effect is that you will get to keep lookin 27 longer than if you dont start hitting the gym. After 40 if you wanna keep lookin 27 you are gonna have to earn it -
Now I have renewed hope that they will come out with a sequel to Cutaway! In part 2 they go EVEN FASTER!!!! __ My mighty steed

Flaring/ Bruises/ sore arms
ChrisL replied to BelskyBlueEyes's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Get in the gym and do some strength training, girl. Focus on bi's, tri's, and lats to improve your flare. Those are the main muscles you will use for flaring. Also, on your my space page you have to remove the line where you say you are in great shape __ My mighty steed -
How many jumps before your SCR?
ChrisL replied to steveorino's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thats a secret. Sorry. __ My mighty steed -
1 stone is 14 pounds. I know you guys don't do metric but I thought you'd at least have learnt the whole imperial system Not to mention that a unit of mass that large is an absurd way to measure body mass. Like a guy thats perfect at 11 stone could be grossly overweight at 12 __ My mighty steed
-
Hey, Right now I weight 250 lbs. which I guess is just a hair under 18 stone by your reckoning. I'm in good shape and its mostly muscle from bodybuilding and I'm also fairly flexible from training regularly in martial arts. I AM a fast faller. Its a pain but I manage. Anyone that would suggest you reconsider skydiving because of fall rate is just plain silly The advice on weight as a factor in injuries should definitely be taken into account. If you are going to be an anvil, be in good shape because hitting the ground hard can break you if you aren't fit. Heavy isn't bad all by itself. __ My mighty steed

Contact the USPA and ask them to send you the missing issues. I have done that before when I miussed an issue for one reason or other and they have helped me out... __ My mighty steed -
People seem to define ugly in different ways. To me "ugly" would mean that her appearance is repulsive, revolting, or disgusting. Others may define it as anything less than classically beautiful or "normal" as it is defined for a given creature. Personality notwithstanding, I define her as funny looking, different, or unusual, but definitely not ugly. __ My mighty steed

that was the other kind my wife wanted. I DID get my way on that one in that I refused to have one under any circumstances. We already have a Jack Russell. Another loud, high strung dog and I'd have hung myself. She could have a chihuahua OR me, but not both.
-
She really does. I wanted a big dog. Obviously I lost that battle A Chinese Crested Hairless is probably the LAST dog on earth I'd have chosen for myself. Gotta say though that it only took her about an hour to wiggle her way into my heart. Her temperament is wonderful. she is lively and energetic, and also extremely cuddly and affectionate. And QUIET!

She is extremely lively and energetic, but not high strung and not a yapper at all. __ My mighty steed

Easy. Because you are not over her and are not happy for her. Duh __ My mighty steed
