OCMD skydive center ---June 3rd
ChrisL replied to Melissa126's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Had this same problem myself in the beginning. so I just said "Fuck em!" and went myself. Still friends with the old crowd, I think I have more fun than they do -
Possible? Hard to say for certain. Some of the ideas presented, while theoretically possible, are much harder and much more expensive to implement than just getting adequate training in skydiving for yourself. So clearly the burden of effort and expense involved have not been eliminated, you just want someone else to assume those burdens while you enjoy the fruits of their labors :) Good luck with that __ My mighty steed

This is the King air they had a few years ago. Dont know that its the same one, but it can give you an idea what they look like. __ My mighty steed

+1 I've pounded in several times in dreams, and then I get up and it doesn't seem off to me that I'm not dead. I've also felt embarrassed that anyone saw me do it __ My mighty steed

People that don't jump often.

Now dont be putting words in my mouth, brother. I didn't say or imply that I thought you were a skygod or anything else. I was merely throwing my own two cents in regarding how one defines passionate. I dont think that putting skydiving before all else is a demonstration of passion, although the person that does so must certainly be passionate about it. I'm very passionate about it as well, but I had to take 2 over years off from jumping because my young son got in trouble with the law and the only way I could pay for it was to sell my gear. Am I less passionate than you, or do I just have more pressing obligations that prevent my being able to indulge my passion to the exclusion of all else? I think it demonstrates a lack of balance or common sense when one is willing to sacrifice stability in all other areas of ones life in order to get more jumps. I also said that this is just my opinion. __ My mighty steed -

One could also say that he is every bit as passionate as the guy in the trailer eatem Ramen noodles. He just isn't as obsessed. Draw a distinction between passion and obsession. I think the guy spending every nickle on jumps and eating ramen noodles is obsessed and has a life that is WAY out of balance. But then thats just my opinion. __ My mighty steed -
King air has a much smaller door than an Otter, so you arent gonna be launching any real big chunks. __ My mighty steed

When will that start, Liz? Any idea what the ticket will run? __ My mighty steed

I can. I buy my jump tickets at the beginning of the day and keep em in there. I cant think of a use for an outside pocket. What are ya gonna do? Bring your wallet and keys with you? __ My mighty steed

Heres what I went with... __ My mighty steed

Cant take all the credit. Gotta give props to: Aerodyne for sending me the swatches :) Gary from Karnage Krew for hooking me up with with the gear. A minor shipping delay caused by a volcano of all things, but I should have it all this week or next! __ My mighty steed

Like little parachutes for your arms and legs? :) nice job - now someone is going to offer that in about 3 months and 4 people here will immediately swear that they are the greatest thing ever.......and then post elsewhere that they have a hard time taking grips.... and I wont make a cent because I just threw my brilliant idea it out there without a patent! __ My mighty steed

Like little parachutes for your arms and legs? :) I'm about 5' 10" and 225 lbs. Weight lifter. Its mostly muscle so in addition to being heavy, I'm a good bit smaller than guys that are in my weight class because of excess body fat. I'm an anvil. I use a Bevsuit Polycotton suit with regular cordura booties and a lining. Decent amount of fabric under the arms and loose arms and legs. I STILL fall pretty fast, and have to fly fairly de-arched most of the time but its manageable. Still, I always enjoy doing RW with other anvils and not have to worry so much about fall rate :) __ My mighty steed

If its the same one I had (twice) its called a Mumford procedure. I separated the AC (acromio-clavicular) joint in a fall. After a while the bones were impinging. Much grinding audible popping sounds when I raised my arm. Lots of pain. Bone spurs developed months down the road. The solution was called a Mumford procedure in which they cut off the end of my clavicle so that there could be no contact between the clavicle and acromion process. This solved the problem and caused me no long term issues. I do everything from martial arts to skydiving and heavy weight lifting without any problems. Currently I can bench press 350 lbs so this doesn't seem to affect your ability to manage large amounts of weight or build muscle. My ortho at the time recommended strength training saying that it would help to stabilize the joint. The only downside is that it aches a bit when the weather changes, but this is common and only an annoyance. edited to add - In point of fact, while doing mat work (Jujitsu) its harder for someone to force a submission because my right shoulder is more mobile than normal :) __ My mighty steed

Whats wrong with doing this? I cant count the number of times I've shared in a meeting about how much I hate drunks -
They only flag it if the Cert. of Airworthiness is revoked, suspended or surrendered. I can tell you first hand that the airframe cycled out. As far as the FAA in Ok City knows, the aircraft is still sitting in the grass in New Jersey. As I said, it was a shame. That airframe had many good years left in it. I had a lot of awesome jumps from that plane at Cross Keys. I was sad when it was taken out of service. __ My mighty steed

A better ending here would have been "He declined unfortunately, so I killed him." -
