  1. You can "whatever" all you like, Andy :) You are obfuscating. I can do that too. Hot air is not "a gas". Its a mixture of several gasses. Mostly nitrogen, some oxygen, and trace amounts of argon, carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases, as well as some water vapor. Regardless, a "Hot Air Balloon" is a very specific type of aircraft, and its NOT the type being used for the high altitude attempts. __ My mighty steed
  2. Hot air balloons are filled with hot air. the balloons used for the high altitude jumps typically use helium. Hot air balloons cant reach even a fraction of the altitude. __ My mighty steed
  3. Its a cool video. At one point a female voice says "jump from a hot air balloon at the edge of space" Dunno if it matters for the purposes of the video, but the balloons they use for those altitude records aren't hot air balloons. They are gas filled. __ My mighty steed
  4. Its a cool video, but dont believe everything you read along with it, The text implies that this guy dived all the way to the bottom, struck a pose, and then climbed out. The bottom is 663 ft. There is no way anyone made it to the bottom with just weights and nothing else. Look up the records. __ My mighty steed
  5. Good call. Strengthening the entire shoulder, chest, and upper back including the small supporting muscles, rotator cuff etc can help a lot. Once its been dislocated once its easier for it to happen again due to stretched ligaments. There is a surgical option to correct this if your lifestyle warrants it. __ My mighty steed

    Helmets

Skysystems Benny Its cheap, decent head protection, and looks pretty good. I just bought one myself. Names kinda dumb, but I took the decal off :) __ My mighty steed
  7. I dont think its hard actually. (I mean decision-wise) The "right" thing to do is to tell your infected friend that they have to do the right thing and let their partner know the truth. Then tell them that if they do not do so, then you will do it for them. They forfeit the right to that privacy when they knowingly put another person at risk without giving that person the right to make an informed choice. __ My mighty steed
  8. Hate to say it brother, but its probably you. You may think you want something else, but these may well be the types that you unconsciously are drawn to :) My brother is exactly the same. His entire 46 years of life has been one unending stream of skinny chicks that are bat shit crazy, and in between he swears he will never date this type again. Theres as many different kinds of women in the USA as there are stars in the sky. You just get the rubenesque or skinny/nuts types. Its your destiny
  9. Replace Alyssa with Evangeline Lilly. The rest are GTG __ My mighty steed
  10. Aerodyne Pilot. 9 cell. Nice, soft, on heading openings. Not a radical canopy. Good for newbs and experienced jumpers alike. __ My mighty steed
  11. Got my first used rig at around 29 jumps after I got my A __ My mighty steed
  12. Black is glossy, stealth is flat. I bought the stealth. Nice helmet. Give you better protection than most carbon fiber helmets and you cant beat the price. Good looking helmet too (IMO) Not sure why they are better for new jumpers. Does your skull get tougher when you have over a thousand jumps? I see no reason this would not be a good helmet for anyone regardless of experience. __ My mighty steed
  13. ...thereby reducing my own relative skydiviness even farther
  14. If your avatar is any indication, you are already all set for helmets
  15. No matter how skydivey you are, there's always gonna be someone skydivier to remind you of how not skydivey you are __ My mighty steed
  16. You could always demo them both before buying one. Your results may differ from mine. Remember, this is just my opinion. Others may not share this view. Truth to tell, I really enjoyed the Sabre2, but as I started jumping in larger groups I found the off heading openings made me more nervous... __ My mighty steed
  17. I've owned 2 of each and prefer the Pilot. Both the Sabre2 and the Pilot fly great. Both of the Sabre2's I owned ( a 210 and a 190) gave me off heading openings at least 25 - 30% of the time and a couple real hard slammers from each, but had an awesome flare. Both Pilots (a 210 and a 188) opened on heading 99% of the time, fly great, and while the flare isn't quite as powerful, as long as you flare all the way you get great landings. I just bought my 3rd Pilot (ZPX this time) and am eagerly waiting to get it into the air. Next weekend Gods willing! __ My mighty steed
  18. You've entirely missed my point. I think its great that you like Gary and want to support him. As I already said, I have total confidence in Gary. The problem is that making public, direct personal attacks "on the interwebz" against another person because you dont like what they said about him can reflect just as poorly on that business as the guy that decided to air his personal grievance in a public forum. You dont help that businessman by publicly insulting people that dont like him even if those people were reacting in what you deemed an inappropriate way. Gary has always had an impeccable reputation. He publicly acknowledged that he had a rough period of transition and that some delays resulted from them. He apologized to those affected and thanked them for their patience and understanding, and assured all that he is getting things back on track. His words, his actions, and his reputation speak for themselves. Overly passionate fans that attack anyone that doesnt feel the same way is not helpful to him and only generates negative attention around the whole issue __ My mighty steed
  19. You seem determined to make yourself look like an ass, so I will no longer stand in your way __ My mighty steed
  20. I dealt with Gary for significantly more than 3 grand and I'm 100% satisfied that Gary will make good on every piece. Thats hardly the point. Your message was a personal attack. It helps nobody. __ My mighty steed
  21. Comments like this are why threads get locked and/or deleted. Not helpful regardless of which side of the issue you are on. __ My mighty steed
  22. Now I want a rack of lamb. Thanks a lot, skymama __ My mighty steed
  23. I guess I didn't make the intent of my statement clear. I was not supporting nor was I contradicting any data regarding the cypres activation speeds. At the time I posted, another person had posted a contradictory bit of information and since you had not yet responded to that I merely referred you to his post in case you had missed it. It appears at this point that everyone is now in agreement with your chart. I have read no documentation so I'm still not taking any position on the matter. __ My mighty steed
