I do it every time I go to the DZ. I dont just throw it in the car though. I stuff it into my gear bag. I couldn't recommend leaving it in a big open heap in the car. __ My mighty steed

I've had both medial and lateral epicondilitis, AKA tennis and golfers elbow. Both are tendonitis (neither of which were caused by golf or tennis ;) I've had them one at a time, and both at the same time, and in both arms. I'm very active with weights, martial arts, jumping, etc Its usually sword training or weights that triggers it. When i get a flare up of one of these its usually a good couple months before the pain is gone, but i am usually back at whatever I'm doing in a matter of a couple weeks with the help of a lot of ibuprofin and naproxen, and I try to avoid the specific sword moves that irritate it or back off the weight for a while when lifting Short answer, for mine its a couple weeks before I resume semi-normal activity level, and a couple months for the pain to subside completely. __ My mighty steed

I'm twice as productive as all the other people that can't get out. Why? because I'm happier. If companies spent less time trying to prevent people from being able to look at the Internet they would probably have a more productive work force __ My mighty steed

I have a linux desktop at work and a Linux server at home with squid proxy. I pipe my http and https requests from my desktop to proxy through localhost:9898 localhost:9898 gets piped through an SSH tunnel to a squid proxy on my server at home I can surf all day and it looks like regular SSH traffic (port 22) to the network dorks since I use SSH to connect to more than one hundred fifty servers that I maintain. I set this up in about 3 minutes after one of the Wintel geeks told me there was NO WAY anyone could get around the shiny new bluecoat proxy that everyone else if forced to use :) 5 years and they haven't figured it out yet. I was once "trapped" in a relationship with a severely depressed woman. I stayed FAR longer than I should have because I felt responsible for her. I was afraid that if I left her she would off herself In the end the pressure and stress consumed me and made ME sick too. You obviously care about this woman, but your marriage is going to destroy you. You need to leave before you too are consumed. __ My mighty steed

I've done it with my rig inside a gear bag and bungied securely to the sissy bar. No passenger seat or sissy bar on my new bike so its no longer an option. Main problem I had was that after a day of jumping I was pretty tired and a 90 minute ride home was not as nice as a nice comfy car ride

Does the fear ever go away?
ChrisL replied to Hunt_Joshua_G's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
319 jumps and i still have a healthy fear. Certainly not a "crapping in my pants, wish I had stayed on the ground" kinda fear. Just enough so that I dont forget what could happen to me. I think it''ll help keep me alert and alive -
Try losing your house I do not subscribe to the theory that if someone else lost something of greater monetary value than your loss, that you are not allowed to be bummed about it. __ My mighty steed

Its entirely possible that their small size and weight, 4 oz. in the case of the ContourHD, could give people a false sense of harmlessness. Certainly a lot more attention needs to be paid to securing them or designing a mount/enclosure that specifically focuses on potential skydiving issues. I dont think any of the current mounts out there (for the contour) were ever designed to deal with the rigors of skydiving. __ My mighty steed

Thats an affirmative. I've already designed an enclosure of plexiglass with curved corners to further reduce any possible snag points and protect the camera from impacts. I had actually planned to make this box for the first camera, but had not gotten around to it since it was still new. Another lesson learned. Dont put off shit like that. If you think you might need it, then do it right away or risk consequences to yourself, your property, or others __ My mighty steed

And this should be used as an example of someone who is not ready to be flying camera. The fact that you did not even know you lost the camera speaks to your awareness level. Hitting the door and breaking a camera off the top of your head should be a noticable event. It is not an insignificant bump or ding. As you get more jumps and experience you become more aware of exactly what you are doing and what happens. Sounds like you do not have the awareness level yet to be jumping with a camera. If you did not even notice this what else will you not notice...At this point a camera is too much for someone not aware enough. At least this is my opinion. I appreciate your input, as I appreciate the input from anyone with significantly more experience than I have, however I think that you are basing your opinion on an incorrect assumption. You assume that there had to be a fairly significant impact to break the camera off of my head and that if I didnt notice such an impact then my level of awareness must be quite low. Had this been the case, you would be quite correct. This was not the case at all. The impact was extremely minor. My head/helmet did not make any contact with the door at all. Just the edge of the camera itself, and the dovetails that are part of the camera body, (apparently a very weak part of the camera body cracked and the camera fell right off. The mount, and the dovetail rail from the camera were still there and looking at it afterward you can see how thin and weak they really are. I have actually been complimented on several occasions for the level of detail in my recollection of what happens on jumps I've been a part of. Generally speaking, indicating that someone should be held up as an example of what people shouldn't do will usually close their mind to your message, right or wrong. I've attempted to avoid that reaction while responding to your message because I understand your intent. __ My mighty steed

I told a cop to mind his own business. What happens next?
ChrisL replied to Airman1270's topic in The Bonfire
Since you mentioned it twice, obviously his race WAS relevant. To you. I fail to see how it had anything to do with the actual event, though, or the telling of it here in this forum. Sounds like he was being a dick, and you let it get to you. __ My mighty steed
