Due to popular demand, I've written up some instructions with pictures of my "non-destructive" modification to the D70 remote. Clicky ¡Cieloz Azules!

"I'm here for the colonic; what about you??"

Yeah ... I hate tailgaters too. What I sometimes do in a situation like this, if I can do it safely, is to start counterstearing like crazy from one side of the lane to the other. Usually scares the crap out of the tailgater and they back off ... try it sometime, it can be fun

What's the most irritating Christmas song?
ChangoLanzao replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
Bah! Thanks for allowing me to cast a vote I checked them all. I find ALL xmas songs excessively annoying. As a matter of fact, Christmas is excessively annoying altogether. I can't wait 'till January ... plus it's too cold to jump here, so make that March -
Zoe is awful cute! Here's a pic of PeeWee, my Toy Manchester Terrier whom people constantly mistake for a "min-pin". Clicky

Have you gotten rid of your land phone line?
ChangoLanzao replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
Yes. I dumped my land lines almost three years ago and I have no regrets. My wife thought I was nuts, but she's also glad to be on cellular phone only. It's especially nice not having to deal with so many tele-marketers -
Here are five I like lately: * Life of my own - 3 doors down * Kryptonite - 3 doors down * Flying High Again - Ozzy Osbourne * Out of Control - Hoobastank * Milkyway - Buzz Poets

This is very nice ... thanks! Have you considered including a drive-time search in addition to a distance search??

I jump both a Sabre 135 (about 200 cam jumps) and a Crossfire-2 119 (about 50 cam jumps). My Sabre opens more quickly, but it's always been gentle on me, and it always opens on heading. I love the nice soft openings I get with my Crossfire, but it's a little wilder, and always thinks about twisting as it's inflating. All thinks considered, I don't have a real preference, both work nicely.

No need to modify the Nikon. I got an IR remote for my D70 and carefully peeled back the membrane switch on the remote and scotch-taped a pair of wires in. The other end of the wires have a 2-pin male micro connector. The corresponding female piece goes to the tongue switch that I made from a SPST Mini Momentary Pushbutton Switch. To use the setup, I just strap the IR remote, which is only 2" long to the lens (Velcro is our friend!)with the IR LED pointing back at the IR detector on the camera body and connect the wires. I've been using this rig for a couple of months without any problems. My only complaint is that the D70 doesn't let you use the IR remote in continuous mode, so I'm limited to about one shot every couple of seconds. Here's some stills I've taken with my D70: Clicky! and Clicky!!

Why is there a helicopter flying so low around Chicago?
ChangoLanzao replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Makes sense. Come to think of it, my BIL's last report probably was from pre-9/11 days and it probably was on a Sunday morning -
Why is there a helicopter flying so low around Chicago?
ChangoLanzao replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Yeah ... it's probably a movie ... my brother-in-law lives in Printers Row, accross the street from Dearborn Station ... he's seen low-flying choppers go past his second-story window several times before. I think they filmed part of an ER episode down there once too. -
