  1. Thanks! ... It rolled twice and ended up on it's side. I couldn't believe I was in one piece, hanging by the seatbelt ... an instant later it occurred to me that I'd better get the hell outa there, since I had just filled the gas tank last night! I think I'm gonna lay low for the weekend ************************************
  2. Always wear yer seatbelts!! I hit a patch of ice ... *****************************
  3. Just don't forget to wash the car first! Edited to note that washing the car AFTERWARDS might be an even better idea **************************
  4. No. I've been doing this since *before UseNet*. I used to be a "SysOp" in "FidoNet" ... this sort of thing is not new, believe it or not. I learned a very long time ago that it's best to assume that anything posted, whether in a public message board, in a PM, or in an email can and will end up in the newspaper, or on the boss's desk the next day. Whenever posting anything at all, it's best to keep in mind that it WILL end up in the newspaper or otherwise be taken out of context, which could be pretty bad, depending on who you are and where you work. Not allowing oneself to get sucked into political or religious arguments, of course, is a good strategy to avoid becoming the target of unreasonable people who tend to get too easily annoyed. ******************************

  6. Whew! I dropped at least ten pounds just reading your plan. ***********************
  7. ¡Yo! I was planning to go, but once I saw yer vidi, I bought my airline ticket right away *********************************
  8. I'm sure mine is covered in my homeowners policy. I haven't asked specifically about my skydiving rigs, but a few years ago, when some asshole baggage handlers in Miami International pilfered our bags and stole my SCUBA rig, my insurance company (Auto Owners Insurance) paid ... no problem. **********************
  9. I've owned a Suzuki 100, a Yamaha 305, a Kawasaki 500 MachIII, a Kawasaki 750, and a GoldWing, in that order ... been riding for 36 years They were all fine motorcycles, and fortunately I've been lucky enough to have never owned a lemon. My MachIII was the most fun - used to leave Harley's behind in a cloud of blue smoke The GoldWing lasted forever, and was absolutely reliable, but all it could do was to take me comfortably, in a straight line, 90 mph, ALL DAY LONG I have derived great pleasure over the years denigrating Harley D's Now I own a 2002 Dyna LowRider AND a 2003 Softail Heritage Classic. I've already put 6000 mi on the LowRider and more than 10000 mi. on the Softail. Last June, I drove the Softail out to San Diego and back (from Champaign, IL). It was AWESOME! More comfortable than the Goldwing, totally reliable, burned no oil, sounded great, and handled beautifully. Got passed by lots of squids on cheap, but VERY fast japanese crotch-rockets. BFD! I can go faster, assholes - head down!! Anyway, I love my Harleys. They are well-built, solid, and reliable. The engines are smooth, and sound great! Most importantly though, they are WORKS OF ART Irony: This August, in Rantoul, I made the mistake of parking the Softail too close to Drop Zone Row, so it got hit by a sofa on the final night Rear fender got wrinkled up. It was very sad But that's a whole 'nother story ... ************************
  10. Yes ... it's true. Try one of these: Clicky Down here in Champaign, IL, the sun just came out for the first time in days! Unfortunately, it's about to set already I hate Illinois weather...and it's too far north too! This sucks. *********************
  11. I will be there. I've almost got a couple of other Pathetic Losers from ISC talked into flying down for a few days. I can't wait! My wife and my mother are also going, but they'll be taking tours and shopping while I jump It's possible that my mom, who's 77 may feel like doing a tandem ... hmmm ... maybe if she can get a Pink Mafia number ********************
  12. They don't really need money at this point. While I'm sure the Red Cross will put the money they get to good use, the scale of this is so huge. I was listening a little while ago to NPR, and a representative of one of the governments was explaining that they have plenty of money already pouring in from the whole world. Incredibly though, the biggest problem seems to be organization. The governments providing assistance need to divide up the work to be done and task it out in managable pieces. It's just mind-boggling ... the communications and logistics ... **************************
  13. The WFFC is only ten miles south of my home DZ! [#FF0000]**********************
  14. Yup...they're NOT EVIL *************************
  15. Here's another source of music which is free to download and try out, and reasonable licensing fees. Have any of you checked out Magnatune?? The music can be downloaded free and purchased/licensed online through an easy to use interface. There are many genres available and quite a few very high quality recordings. I'd be interested in knowing what you guys think. Magnatune *******************
  16. Gamma rays would be pretty much the same as X-rays. Neutrons might produce some interesting effects. -------------
  17. Ugh! My bf calls them "Doggy Snickers". I had no idea dogs love cat poop before I lived with Daisy and Tyson. Gross. Well, they look a lot like BROWNIES Anyway, that's nothing; my dogs like to eat the chicken shit --- that gives em bad breath an order of magnitude (at least!) worse than the kittie brownies do ... ----------------------------------
  18. Sorry, it kinda caught me by surprise There must be someone out there who's got it on their TiVo. --------------
  19. I agree ... it was cool since most of the wuffos watching wouldn't know the difference anyway. I was surprised though when my wuffo wife even noticed that there was something not quite right when he stuffed the voting box into his main compartment -----------------------------
  20. Yeah ... that was pretty cool ;-) Was it really him or a double?
  21. The default is 60 sec, but you can set it for 5, 10, or 15 minutes. See Custom Setting 25: Remote (page 154 of the D70 user guide).
  22. The weather in Illinois, where I live Having to have my reserve re-packed every four months. Shopping center parking lots with STOP signs every thirty feet. Squirrels. People who let their cats walk on the kitchen counters and cutting boards. Parking lots that prohibit motorcycle parking. Convenience stores that only carry Budweiser and Miller Lite
