  1. I'm also stalled as far as my weight is concerned and its been months. My trainer keeps trying to get me to track my food/ calories but I just can't make myself do it. He even sent me a great program to use. I'm doing really well with the workouts, but I LIKE to eat! And as much as I understand I NEED to lose a little more weight and pay more attention to what and how I am eating, I also feel like I'm in this for the long haul and tracking my food, fat and calories is NOT something I will do for the rest of my life. Exercise, moderation, portion control- that is something I can and should be doing long term. I just need to get better with the whole moderation and portion control thing!
  2. I love the ocean, any ocean. I didn't grow up near one, nor do I live near one now but if I'm near the coast I always make sure I make a trip to a beach and get my toes in the surf. I even did this at the Jersey shore on late October one year. It was a 2 hour drive from where I was staying and really cold but I didn't care! I love being at the beach or on the ocean in a boat and I love the sound and feel of the surf.
  3. I was in France about 20 years ago. At that time all of the McDonalds were called O'Kitch because apparently they failed whatever sanitary/ cleanliness tests were required to use the McDonalds name. (I can honestly say, Paris in the 80s is probably the filthiest city I had ever been in- seriously!) I seem to recall they did serve a "Royal w/ Cheese" but I figured since they couldn't call themselves McDonalds, they also could not serve Le Big Mac. We asked for everything "bien cuire" (sp??) or well done just to ward off any potential issues! The beer helped too- alcohol kills germs, right? And the very best cheeseburger I ever had in France was from a street vendor in a small town - Besancon. If I remember this right, it was a mini cheeseburger on a rye bun with grilled onions and mustard. Yum! Of course, if I went back and tried to find those same burgers, I'm sure they wouldn't taste half as good as I remember them but they would still be a hell of a lot better than the Royal with Cheese!
  4. Honestly, I had a HUGE problem with one insurance company not paying my bills in a timely manner when I broke my leg 10 years ago. I made all of my required co-payments, but if the bills aren't worded just so, some clerk will stamp it as "unapproved" and not pay it. I learned from that experience and the next time I stayed 100% on top of the insurance company and made sure everything got paid.
  5. I hear ya! My jumping has slowed down to almost nothing since I bought my house AND changed to a lower stress job 5 years ago. I'm working fewer hours and therefore making less, plus homeownership is just plain tough. In 2006, I made only 1 jump all year long. It was early spring, I could barely zip up my suit, went low on the skydive and had zero chance of recovery. I decided not only was I too "poor" to jump, I was too fat! I had no control over my fall rate and my weight gain plus lack of currency made wingloading a pretty serious issue. Since then I've done something about my weight, but my finances barely allow me to stay current- in fact, I haven't made a jump since last September, something I hope to change this weekend. The skies will still be there for you when you are ready for them again!
  6. Well, it could also be that those evil people at the gym installed muscle enhancing mirrors- you know, just so you could see progress and decide that a personal trainer is worth all the extra $$$$! But really, when I first started doing serious upper body workouts with him I could barely lift anything and felt really pathetic about it. Now I feel really encouraged and more determined to step up my workouts on the days when I'm NOT with him.
  7. I had something very similar happen to me a few years ago and I contacted the insurance company. They told me there was a statute (maybe 6 months?) and after that it was up to the provider to prove they had made an effort to collect the debt- either billed me or billed the insurance company. I called the provider back with that information plus the insurance company's info and never heard another word about it, and there was never the slightest ding on my credit, either. The bill should have been 100% covered through my insurance anyway and I wasn't about to pay a dime of it but I am glad I didn't really have to put up much of a fight. Sometimes these places are just "housecleaning" - sending out bills they know they no longer have a legal right to collect on and hoping someone will just pay them without questioning them.
  8. OK so I have to post this. I worked upper body tonight with my trainer. I was doing these lat pull downs, arms extended out on both sides, pulling down and I was standing in front of a mirror. I said to my trainer- "Damn, I like this machine. It makes me look like I have muscles!" He says "You DO have muscles!" I'm still not sure it wasn't just the machine but I have NEVER seen that kind of definition in my arms and shoulders before, EVER!
  9. You implied that being a "homewrecker" didn't necessarily involve intent or a conscious act, as if its just a consequence of someone's looks and/ or personality. That's what I call BS on. And, also, it takes two to tango. Isn't the person that is actually cheating the real homewrecker?
  10. Are you saying attractive women are/ have the potentional to become "homewreckers" simply because of the way they look??? WTF??
  11. Wow- maybe its me but if I'm just having a conversation with someone I don't just assume that person is hitting on me or interested and therefore needs to be immediately advised of my "status".
  12. If the site is still active, try "mybrokenleg.com". Seems to be a not uncommon problem with people recovering from broken legs, esp. ankles. Not saying that is you, but some of the regulars there might have a little insight.
  13. OK, seriously, a really good place to start would be to not think of or treat other people like they are a completely foreign species that you are studying. Its kind of hard to bond with a lab rat, isn't it?
  14. The "exercise trend" is just kind of odd. I doubt I have much to do with it, but who knows? Maybe they see someone in my age group really making the effort and getting results and realize if I can do it, they can too. But, I'll have to see how long it lasts because most people don't have the patience to work at it and wait for results. The last "trend" involved eating/ drinking nothing but water with lemon, honey and chile powder for something like 10 days- I am NOT kidding! At least half a dozen women in the office tried it and most of them didn't last a day! I just shook my head when they were talking about it and wished them luck. Been there, done that, and lasted about as long too!
  15. OK so last week, because of the holiday, busy work schedule and out of town guests, I only manage two workouts and I ate way too much bad food. I'm scared to get on my scale to see the damage! DOH! But, I'll get back on track this week I SWEAR! But a funny thing is happening here at the office. All of the sudden, it seems like a lot of my co-workers are joining gyms and hiring personal trainers. I'm used to the fad diet trends that hit the office from time to time, but exercise? Go figure .............

I just want to know what CARNING is!
  17. Trust me, I KNOW people who would!
  18. Last year at summerfest i found someone plugged into my electrical box for my trailer. Pissed me off since i'm the one that pays the freakin monthly fee!! 1. Unplug 2. Cut cord 3. Problem solved I'm under the impression that a lot of other places are more casual and maybe just pulling up and plugging in (or pitching a tent) is a more common practice at other dzs. But its different at SDC. Its a large campground, pretty nice and we all have assigned slots for which we pay rent every month. Anyway, I personally would not just unplug or cut someone's cord without talking to them first just in case it was an innocent misunderstanding!
  19. We've had issues with tents and trailers over the years, not to mention cars blocking our "driveway"! Not really the best way to make "friends" at a new dz! It might sound kind of petty, but the rent there isn't cheap and most of us really try to keep our places looking nice.
  20. Etiquette????? At a DZ??? I can think of only one thing. Please do not park your trailer or pitch your tent on someone's "lawn" without their permission. We've got a huge campground, so there is no reason to crowd anyone!
  21. He's a very good trainer and I trust him which makes all the difference. I also went to him when I was motivated, and I try to make the most of every session. I'm definitely getting results and he's definitely re-defining my limits. If I could only get my eating habits under control, I'd be doing really well!
  22. OK, he "forgot" to weigh me, but I 'fessed up to the weekend junk food extravaganza including a Culver's Butter burger. I swear he punished me for it last night! He added more weight to the squat machine than I thought I could possibly lift and I still managed 12 reps- that was my 3rd set too! I'm sore today and I know it will be worse tomorrow! sigh........ great workout though!
  23. sigh........... I agree with you- I see it all the time. Its really all about greed and there is plenty to go around. It doesn't help that the loan originators typically get paid when the loan closes and there is little or no consequence to them if and when the borrowers default. I'll just add, not all ARMs are bad- the problem is the ones where the rate increases more frequently than the minimum required payment- and even with those, you can't blame the lenders. The borrowers sign the paperwork explaining EXACTLY how the loan works and every month they get a statement showing exactly what is happening to their interest rate and principal balance.
