  1. I think we need an "Ask a Geek" forum, where we can freely admit our ignorance and beg for advice, kindness and mercy from our more computer savvy friends!
  2. Idk yet. Jury is still out on pins and plates. On one hand it did come out of your body which is gross. But on the other hand it's special hardware designed for bone which is pretty cool. Staples are definately not even cool to keep though. Maybe it's all people who didn't get cool hardware. I've got my hardware, and oddly enough, it doesn't look all that special. It looks like something you would pick out of a bin at Home Depot. I did make sure it was nice and clean before I took it home though, and yes, there is a gross story there.......
  3. You already admitted you wore the hospital bracelet for sympathy. That puts you in the "Attention Whore" category!
  4. Wearing a hospital bracelet after you've been released is a sign of an attention whore, IMO. Hey- look at me! I was in the hospital! Summerfest goes over two weekends every year and I normally only have a few days off. I register during the first weekend, go home and to work during the week, then come back for the 2nd weekend. When I have to wear the bracelet at work, I tell people I am on a day pass from the nut house!

You know, on the one hand its funny, but if that's a "real" third grader who wrote that as an assignment, its pretty sad.
  6. OK, first of all, I think you are way too young to have a completely f---ed life. Seriously. And 2nd- there is a lot of truth to that saying- "That which does not kill you makes you stronger." You'll get past this. You really will.
  7. Enjoy! I really miss working with my trainer. He helped keep me motivated and I looked forward to our sessions every week- even when I knew I'd be hurting later!
  8. I agree- carpet is NASTY! I've got hardwood floors throughout my house. Much better! And for anyone with allergies or asthma issues? Why on earth would you want something in your house to trap all those allergens so you can keep breathing them in?
  9. I hardly ever wear shoes in my own house and normally take them off at the door when I am visiting someone else. I never ask anyone to take theirs off, but my guests are usually aware of the mud and snow on their shoes and polite enough not to track it through my house! (and if it is cold, I am polite enough to offer slippers to help their feet warm!) I feel very lucky that my friends aren't as ignorant as yours!
  10. I'm projecting. A beach would be MY choice, especially if I only had a week. Someplace like Peru- I think I would want to take a couple of weeks and really do it well. A week on the beach with some snorkelling and maybe scuba would refresh me enough to face the rest of the winter.
  11. This winter has been so brutal already- I would LOVE a tropical beach vacation and I hear Ruatan is just beautiful-and still not over-run with tourists like some other beach destinations. Just touristy enough to have the amenities you want on vacation but still "rustic" enough to feel like you are having a bit of an adventure. Peru sounds intriquing too but with a -40 windchill this morning, I am biased towards the beach.
  12. If you're getting smaller and stronger, I wouldn't worry about the number on the scale for now. You are probably gaining muscle mass. The running will probably make a difference too.
  13. I used a Bosu at the gym when I was working with a trainer. Its a great piece of at home equipment, but only if you use it! Funny story- I saw it at the Costco- actually put a few things back to buy it instead. My SO looks at it and makes a comment like I'll use it as much as my yoga ball and I said, "This is way better, you can do all sorts of exercises with it." He shut up because I wasn't asking him to pay for it or anything. So, we're in line and there's a couple behind us. The woman sees it in my cart, and she said "Where did you get that?" So I told her where it was in the store and HER SO says- "Yeah, you'll use it as much as that YOGA ball!" So I said to HIM "This is way cooler"! She agreed with me!
  14. My work- the hours, etc., are really interfering with my workouts. Grrrrr- I went over a year with regular 3-4 times per week at the gym and it was so hard to get to that point- where I wanted to go, enjoyed it and it was a part of my daily routine. I haven't been in 3 weeks, and the 3-4 became 1-2 before that. But, I'll get back on track! I did manage not to gain any extra holiday/ winter wieght so far, which is good. And I bought myself a Bosu balance trainer for home workouts. I just haven't really used it yet!
  15. The article is a little weird, but I would wonder why a friend would think it was something I needed to see.
  16. Sphere Because it had an amazing cast, wasn't marketed as a "B" movie but had the lamest plot- an odd mix of sci fi, action and psycho drama- plus an ending that was insulting to anyone who actually sat through the whole film. Like the film industry's joke on the rest of us. I rented it and wanted my $3.00 back plus pain and suffering money! Oh, and I actually liked Ishtar when I saw it in the theatre. Laughed all the way through it, if I remember correctly.
  17. I thought he was awesome in Wrath of Khan.
  18. You're only a mooch if you over-stay your welcome and become the houseguest from hell. They offered and you will probably be better off in the long run if you give yourself a chance to get the "lay of the land" so to speak before you make any semi- permanent decisions. (Security deposits, that kind of thing..........) Its a big move- why not give yourself the time to do it right?
  19. Thanks! I'll try it when I get home.
  20. Do you have a place to stay for a while after you move? It would be a lot easier to find both a job and an apartment once you are there if you have friends or family who will take you in for a few weeks (or more) while you look. Otherwise, I'd suggest planning a "recon trip" a month or so before the big move. Take the time then to look for both a job and a place to live. And if going back to school is your ultimate goal, I'd suggest looking for a job and an apartment close to campus.
  21. OK, I'll bite. I'll admit to being a bit of a moron when it comes to my home computer. I just have to learn as I go. How do you set up Windows to not accept "cookies"?

    24. Bauer

I hear ya! I loved the first few season, even the lame ones but the last season was so bad on so many levels that I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. One thing I can say is that so far, I am finding things very predictable. Tony's not bad, he's under cover. Yet another secret government plot, and now that Old Cloe is relatively normal, there's a "new Cloe" at the FBI- does a good job but says inappropriate things, oh and uptight self righteous FBI agent going all "Bauer" on the guy in the hospital bed to get her answers.
  23. I've been banned from the bonfire for calling out a moderator on her homophobic bullshit. OK- 2 things. There are a**holes and intolerant people everywhere and skydiving is no different. I've heard some gay "jokes" told by guys who are trying to prove their own masculinity or something, but I have personally never heard comments about wanting all gay people dead around any bonfire. Although, I have to say some of the most offensive anti-gay comments I have seen or heard have been right here in this forum made by self proclaimed "Christians". Go figure................. And regarding your bonfire thread- you started a thread with a definite negative slant against women, comparing all of us to money grabbing hos. You used an article on how the housing market is affecting divorce settlements to attempt to support that, but nothing in the article supported what you were trying to say. You were just ranting against women in general. I believe the moderator simply suggested that if you find women so distasteful and bad, that maybe men would be a better option for you. And apparently, they are.
