Teens Who Pledge Abstinence More Likely to Have Unprotected Sex
tigra replied to carmenc's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, this probably should be in the SC. It makes sense to me- if a teenager doesn't *plan* to have sex, he or she will not be prepared to have sex. But that doesn't mean they won't get carried away, pressured, coerced or forced into it anyway. These are the same kids who will be embarrassed or afraid to buy condoms or talk to their doctor about birth control. -
I think you're being overly dramatic here. This is just another stupid lawsuit, not the "death of personal responsibility"! Victims of drunk drivers sue bars and party hosts on a regular basis, but according to the article, this is the first time the criminal is attempting the same thing. The wife, as his victim, would have a better chance of winning. Why not wait for the decision before you start mourning "personal responsibility"?

I wonder if mistletoe was involved in any way. That could answer Billy's question.

Santa Lost a Ho is classic, IMO!

Sky Huminsky?? If so, tell him congrats!

Risotto calls for a special kind of rice- you can substitute, but it won't be Risotto anymore, just another rice dish. On the plus side, there are some added benefits to using brown rice- it is less processed and has a lot more fiber but, no, you will never get the same texture as arborio rice or any other white rice. Instead of Risotto, why not accept the fact that the brown rice will have more "texture" and go with that- add some slivered almonds, chopped scallions and maybe some diced up dried fruit like cranberries or raisons?

We got lunch on Friday, but they usually provide lunch at the end of the month. No holiday party or anything. But I work in the mortgage industry and we've had massive layoffs this year. A) I am lucky to still have a job because I really need it and B) with all the layoffs over the past 2 years, it would have been in really poor taste to have a big holiday party. I would not complain about a $100.00 gift card. One place I worked gave out Target gift cards, but they were for different amounts. What you ended up with was random- could have been anywhere from $20.00 to $50.00. I thought that was wrong- just split the difference and make them all for $35.00 or something! I mean- Its Christmas, not a lottery!

I'm sorry for your loss. It is never easy- I've been there a few times over the past several years. Take some time to grieve for her and find the friends who will be sympathetic when you need to talk about it. Not everyone will understand she was more than "just a cat" to you.

Majel Roddenberry (aka the computer voice aka Lwaxana Troi) has died
tigra replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I loved her character on TNG ........... Sad day indeed ............. -
No WOMAN in her right mind would date him, but Drew Peterson doesn't date women- he dates teenage girls while he is still married to someone else. At least that's the way it was with wife #4 and from what I hear, this new one too. Apparently he's been seeing her for several years.
-
If I remember correctly, wife #4 (the missing presumed dead wife) got involved with him when she was just a teenager and he was still married. She also came from a broken/ messed up home environment, etc. (I also think she knew exactly what he did to wife #3 the whole time but was so screwed up herself that she married him anyway.) The news reports are saying he's been involved with this "new" woman for several years, so she was probably also a teenager when they first got involved. Hey, I don't get it myself but the fact that the last two "women" he's been involved with were vulnerable teenage girls with low self esteem says a lot.

He does clash with the gravel! Didn't they have a pink fish?
-
It was priceless- so priceless I think you should name your new fish Rainbo in his honor!
-
You should ask Rainbo how he feels about naming fish! He came to our place once, saw the fish tank and we proceeded to tell him the names of our fish. He had this stunned look on his face and said "You name your fish?" I think his son had a pirhanna (sp?) at the time and any other fish they brought home became food pretty fast!
-
Around here they call them Betas or Bettas. They keep them stacked on the shelves in in the pet stores in these tiny tupperware-like containers. They sell them for a couple of dollars and make more money on the accessories. They're pretty and they look kind of sad but I can't put them in my big aquarium with my goldfish so I won't take one home.
-
I think its a beta fish. They're supposed to be aggressive and you can't put them with other fish, definitely not another beta anyway.
-
The fish might as well get used to it, because if Sunny takes it home, it will probably have 2 cats staring at it for hours on end! At one time, I had an octagon shaped aquarium- maybe 5 gallons? My cat Gizmo would wrap his arms around it and press his face right up against the glass!

He wasn't as much fun after rehab!

Great job, Chris!

FBI hunt molester in PMB : skydiver from 2004 US National Team?
tigra replied to SuFantasma's topic in The Bonfire
Maybe Dog the Bounty Hunter got him and didn't want another international kidnapping charge! -
The flip side is that a teen isn't going to pass himself off as someone in his 20s to anyone over 25 or 30 even if he (or she) "thinks" he looks and acts "old" or "mature" for his age. And honestly, the older I get, the younger "young" people look to me. Doctors in the ER look like high school kids, etc ................ I'll smile and accept the compliment if someone acts surprised at my actual age or tells me I look much younger, but I don't put too much stock in it just the same. Here's a reality check though- they can calculate your "metabolic age" at my gym- THAT was depressing! I had that done about a year ago, but never had them do it a second time. Here I was thinking I was in OK shape, "young" for my age, etc. NOPE! According to those results, my metabolic age was about 7 years OLDER than I actually am, and with hard work - diet and exercise - I might be able to shave 5 years off my "actual age"!
-
Most people seem genuinely surprised, even shocked when I tell them how old I am and tell me I look much younger. How old I FEEL and how old I think I look varies from day to day.

Well you've got me thinking I should see my own doctor about a nagging cough/ chest congestion that's been going on for way more than 3 weeks. The thing is, most of the time I feel OK but also I have days when I feel weak and tired, and during/ after a workout, the coughing/ chest congestions is pretty bad. Guess I should suck it up and go because even though it isn't getting worse, it is also not getting any better.
