I figure I'm clean when I use my towel so I don't need to change that everyday- just ince a week or so! But putting dirty socks or undies on after a shower? No way! I'd go without if that was my only other option!

That was me last weekend, except it was more my shoulder than my back! (must have started with a muscle strain but the imflammation was pinching a nerve somewhere!) I broke down and went to my doctor and got drugs! Did the trick!

Wow- I remember donating blood in Paris many years ago and they gave me a beer and a sandwich when I was done instead of the usual juice and cookies! I'll bet in Ireland they give their donors Guiness! But seriously, everything in moderation!

It wasn't that long ago there was an article about someone killing the bride's cousin (or something) at a wedding because he insulted her. Then he chopped him up, cooked him and tried to serve him to the guests. And another one where they killed a guy and fed him to lions.

All I know is there are a few parts of the world where I would try very very hard not to piss someone off! I'm adding this one to the list!

Actually, I equated calling someone homophobic with calling someone arachnophobic and asked if you thought calling someone arachnophobic was a personal attack. In my opinion, it is not. Obviously, YOU don't like the "label"-maybe it struck a nerve?- but the term "homophobe" is not in the same category as idiot, a**hole, bigot or jerk. It is not derogatory by definition. Its a lot closer to "lawyer" which you said for some reason you got banned for using.

OK- its debatable whether the term homophobe is derogatory or a personal attack. (I'm leaning towards NOT, but that's not even the point!) The point is, I did not call anyone a homophobe. I simply stated that I had encountered homophobic skydivers and that was in direct response to someone else saying that the skydiving community as a whole was completely accepting of homosexuality. Geez- I really need to stay out of this place!

They've had an operation going in Ixtapa for the past few years. Check their site- I'm not sure what they are doing this winter. I heard a rumor of a "traveling DZ" instead of basing their operations out of Ixtapa, but I don't know for sure. I *think* another place opened further north on the coast, and they've had a few boogies in Puerto Escondido, but not a regular DZ. (further south on the Pacific coast)

Nope- two separate issues! There are plenty of Bubbas and non- Bubbas in BOTH parties and on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line! But for me, prior to moving to Kentucky, I hadn't really been exposed to it much. My best friend and her parents were good people, but had no problem using the "n word" at the dinner table! If I used that word in my house, my mom would have washed my mouth out with soap!

Try being a 10 or 11 year old "northerner" transplanted to Louisville, Kentucky during the Nixon McGovern presidential race and Nixon's impeachment! It felt like my parents (and us kids by osmosis) were the only democrats in the state! (not to mention the Bubba-ist remarks my friends and their parents made so casually all the time! Kind of tough when your parents have taught you certain words were wrong, but other parents used them regularly!)

Actually, there's all kinds of phobias, and people who suffer from them are ****phobic. A phobia is a fear, typically an irrational fear. If I called someone arachnophobic, would THAT be derogatory? Now if I had used the term "gay basher" or "*** hater" or something along those lines, and then said you or another individual was one, that would probably be considered a personal attack. I did not. I stated that I had encountered homophobic skydivers and was surprised because I expected skydivers in general to be more tolerant than other groups of people. That was a naive expectation on my part. (I can't believe I have to clarify that!) And I made that comment in response to another post. Regardless, according to the rules here, we can call a group of people something bad/negative or derogatory and that's OK. We just can't refer to each other in those terms. That's been pointed out to me and others before! (but I don't have the time or motivation to find the post and copy it here.) Hope that clears things up!
